As my feet pounded the asphalt
Hard and my heart pounded in my throat
I saw the finish line and marked it
My destination.

My heart elevated and the last dozen
Steps were easier than all, but then comes the
Pain, keep walking, keep walking
Keep walking.

And as you feel your lungs
Collapsing in on you and your muscles
Screaming, there is no end in sight
No reason

To keep moving on, to
Keep fighting, that is when you will
Break, when you will fall apart
And wish for oblivion.

I wish I arrived at humility out of love,
minutes often I arrive at its doors
through the pain of humiliation.

My self righteous anger brought me
to this moment of the beauty of humility
as I cradle my bruised hand after punching a wall.

I am a human being that makes mistakes,
and the beauty of a spiritual life happens
through progress not perfection.

I am growing little by little,
and slowly breaking the cycle of violence
passed from my father, passed to him by his father...

I cannot spiritually grow alone and without help.
The beauty of humility is that I am not alone, and
I am neither the worst or the best.  I am human.

Evil words and vicious looks
only villains and brutal crooks
The human is one odd being
always blaming and disagreeing

Once it feels
once it hears
It falls asleep
in ****** tears

The dream is lucid, almost real
it holds him hostage and makes him kneel
He battles fiercely day and night
thrashing, screaming with so much fright

Hoping, asking
all the way
That the life of his
has no last day

Be strong You cursed child of God
there is no life under your facade
You need to free your soul of lease
stop the devil, find your peace

Until you ask for more battles
You won’t see the stars above
You won’t hear the sacred song
Nor could you tell right from wrong

The darkness doesn’t rule the day
The light will always find its way
So make your life of some worth
Be just human on this earth

There is a pain—so utter—
It swallows substance up—
Then covers the Abyss with Trance—
So Memory can step
Around—across—upon it—
As one within a Swoon—
Goes safely—where an open eye—
Would drop Him—Bone by Bone.
