from here to there in a blink
the bridge of time can be crossed

eighty-five was the number
they told us that was all we could do
when you run out you are in trouble
you cannot say we did not warn you

before this night is over
I will have returned to my post
turning back the clock
retrieving spoken words
that have fallen on deaf ears
