the suds were plentiful
the froth warm and soothing
the fragrance
precious
but my soul would not wash
now i'm in a lather
the chance is gone for good
we must do what we must do
always in keeping with time's pace
my slow march
is too ponderous
heavy upon the heart
and hopeless
david mungoshi May 2016
my heart wept silent tears
that gushed out of sad sighs
to lean upon withered wishes
and the sounds of dead words
out of the frozen lips of seers
in this silence and aching gap
at life seeping through i gape
and long to march to the beat
of the words of  dreamers -
dream of finer times to come
they urge in a raspy chorus
among these few am i counted
though it were better not to be

In
the peace
we seek
True love
shall be revealed.

there she was
like the cat that ate the canary
she stretched out a lazy limb
and stifled a luxurious yawn
a fine picture of bliss she was
covered in lavender bubbles
in her hot Jacuzzi bath
like the moon she would glow
this enchanting late evening
and love-smitten admirers
in tow would gape and drool
enthralled by she of the Jacuzzi
she in rainbow bubbles and rich
perfumes: she a latter-day cupid
thus see her face tilted upwards
aglow with dreams and wishes
la belle dame sans merci
hath thee in thrall...
keats said
and a world opened up for her
who would dare deny her her dues?
she was a walking muse
a mythical queen
a fragrant poem
in lavender bubbles

Progression
Life thrives
Regression
Humans wilt
Death
Our invention
Eternity
Our hope
For rain, diamonds
And sparkling champagne
In desperation to make our mark

We are but two roses in the same vase
sharing the same water
same light,
but our leaves never again touching.
You've grown colder
we've grown apart
separated yet together dying.

Tell me, why do we, roses, die so easily?

Our scents fading,
but our thorns getting sharper
in a world where all the flowers bloom
we are the ones to be wilting.

Tell me, why does the moonlight darken our colours?

I know
I will love you with all my thorns
and with my fading shades
until the last petal will fall
until the sun upon me
will stop shining.

*Tell me, why is there blood on your thorns
and why is my heart leaking?
Together we stand
divided we fall.

like a shy stranger marooned
on the shores of some strange place on earth
i tip-toe into my ailing heart
that vast land built of emotions
i hear the sick wind pining for freedom
and i hear the cry of a broken branch
weeping thick red tears where the cut bled
will be a while before i see other strangers
crying for lost opportunities and yearning
for the simple things of life
