The band plays loudly
Well dressed rhinos and cougars
Pose and line up for action
I catch your eye and exit
You follow me and escape
Walking into walls
Thinking they are open doors
Better to knock first
Haiku
i despise you so
for treating others as
a commodity
Senryu
coxcomb, popinjay
strutting down the avenue
a pigeon, puffed up
Haiku
I heard you say, "Nice!"
As you took a swig of beer
Watching pretty girls
Dressed in bright dresses, stroll by
Funny that you looked so grim
tanka
autumn rain
dark brooding clouds
where is she
Senryu
I stood there, upon
An aggregate of needles
Harbor behind me
Tired fluorescent sign in front
Then got on my bike and rode
bright coloured jewels
racing through bulrushes on
cellophane rainbows
Haiku
When i was a boy
i sailed through a world of dreams
and now i am old
but i still feel that wonder
and the magic of it all
floating in a  miracle
little ship of dreams
Choka
As beautiful as
Otsuyu, lantern in hand
Wending through the fog
Wading through tide pools
Tiny ***** slip under rocks
Purple stars abound
The surface full of sparkles
A child's wonderland unbound
Tanka
deep within the shade
among the leaves and branches
cool comfortable
too lazy to face the heat
lying back and gazing out
the gamelan of rigging
softly tinkling from the docks
filling me with peacefulness
as yachts and sailboats slip past
the entrance to the inlet
and i calmly drift down the
stream of conciousness
Choka
Missing you, I am
Flotsam in the pounding surf
In, out, up and down
Taken by the undertow
Drowned in the deep emotion
Tanka
delicate pink sky
behind snow covered crags
crescent moon rising
Haiku
night comes drifting in
spilling over the mountains
filling the valleys
Haiku
early evening
small shops with windows aglow
brake lights flash across
Haiku
brewing strong coffee
raspberry jam on the floor
the smell of burnt toast
Haiku
this lonely Planet
cast out among the stars
my cradle my home
Senryu
flash, news bulletin!
you know that primal Eden?
we never left it!
and soon, if we do not change,
it will become a carcass!
yes, we need means of commerce,
a clean environment too.
there is one other factor
as important as those two
and that is social justice.
add these three parts together
and you are on the way to
true sustainability
and healing Eden.
Choka
it is important
to have all our emotions
and freely visit with them
to know them, to respect them
and to tell them only truth
Tanka
Finally rain comes
Rivers swell and falls cascade
Clouds cloak the mountains
And in the churning rapids
Salmon shimmer, leap and dance
Another Tanka
young man in wheelchair
lets the air out his tires
then begs for money
Senryu
Rising and shrieking
Above high cliffs and wild seas
Clouds of seagulls soar
Through the roaring wind they wheel
Far below, I watch, green-eyed
Tanka
your moles are signposts
and your freckles are pathways
leading me to bliss
Senryu
I turn and I turn
Life's sweet colours spinning past
Faster and slower
Around and around I go
Full of all and full of awe
(or Dance of the Itinerant Time Traveler)(or Small Vehicle to Nirvana)
Old, bent cherry tree
Blossoming above dark pond
Petals float brightly
haiku
is eternity
ever growing boundlessness
expanding unseen
and what of its inversion
is that exponential too
is it all twisted and warped
tied throughout with cosmic strings
full of many dimensions
or is it unknowable
a schrodinger's cat
Choka
Pedantic zealots
Striving to **** or save me
The devil loves you
Yes, Evil still lurks
In this old and sweet world
Wearing Armani
heartlessness and hate
that bitter mixture spews from
cold empty vessels
Haiku
Tread beneath the sphinx
There, beyond it's hardened gaze
A riverboat waits
Slip among the papyrus
And sail south to Amun-Ra
Ecstatic blind faitH
Vile severe dogmA
Ignorant mistrusT
Loveless & coarsE
Acrostic
Too big to fail, eh?
In your ivory towers
Bankers, marketeers
Doubtless you care not to see
Your scourge on humanity
Tanka
if your God asks you
to ****** and to destroy
he is not a god
instead, he is but a man
twisted, thirsting for power
at others expense
Choks
sometimes your problems
are so familiar
that you can't see them
Senryu
Remember that we
Are all Bozos on this bus
Laugh, that's the ticket!
your love was so deep
that it flowed under my walls
undercutting them
and causing them to collapse
it's no wonder that i love
fascinating you
i love moussaka
greek salad and rich red wine
shared with my lover
Senryu
i know you love me
for i can feel your heart beats
from behind your wall
Senryu
dark green pine trees
dew drops strung on spiderwebs
pale yellow sunrise
Haiku
above coral lips
venetian blue sadness
your luminous eyes
Senryu
snow sparkling, drifting
down through the darkened wood
a grouse drums, unseen
Haiku
mucking out my mind
looking for buried treasure
and making repairs
Senryu
turning round, she smiled
with awkward flamingo grace
piercing my heart through
Senryu
i am but a flame
a dim wavering light
in this dark cosmos
Senryu
when i look at life
in all its complexity
i see a river
making its sinuous way
from the high snowcapped mountains
to the currents, waves and tides
of the eternal ocean
and there to evaporate
rising up in silver clouds
above the towering peaks
to rain and snow upon them
and flow down again
Choka
when you are in love
throw down your walls completely
and follow your heart
Senryu
pretty little bird
flitting around the garden
please don't fly away
there is no other sunshine
on this grey and lonely day
your swiftness and bright colours
they light up my broken heart
that's all that i really need
please stay a little longer
so i can watch, smile and
begin to forget
Choka
you lied to me
so very many times
i forgive you
for i can see inside you
and the pain that burns there
horrible wounds incurred
as an innocent child
please understand these truths
i am afraid for you
i am not judging you
i will not desert you
i will always be here
and i love the real you
but i have my rights too
and at this painful time
i need respect and truth
and solitude
Choka
all along the fence
small pink roses were blooming
dry oak leaves and twigs
covered the cracked gray asphalt
of the twisted country road
where it turned sharply and passed
the tall narrow old farm house
now covered in blackberries
its broken windows staring
from beneath the thorny veil
front door open and gaping
and the stairs now fallen down
i slowed as i was passing
and thought of all the stories
happy, sad and beautiful
that had been lived within it
this creaking old derelect
now just home to the dry wind
and forgotten dreams
Choka
