I would
love you to be the one that I see
when I wake up
I would like you to be the cream in my cup of coffee
won't you say that you would too
love it to be so true.

Can't you stay through the night and hold me close and real tight
like they do in old movies
you could be Ginger to my Fred Astaire
with you I'm always floating on air
Oh won't you be the one that I see
won't you wake up with me
tomorrow.

And she says,
why always talk of romance
why don't you sing and dance, like Kelly
and If I stayed through the night
would I look the same sight
tomorrow.

So we went through the motion
dodging the question
that burned on my lips
and when I kissed her goodnight
I made light of the moments we'd spent
but getting home
I burned alone
so I called her up on the phone
and said,
I'd love you to be the one that I see
tomorrow.
A size two black ballet shoe on the fast lane of the motorway
a remnant of an accident
was it only yesterday she danced her way along the shores on holiday?
or was that in another life
some other time
when she was only eight or nine?

The years drag on
and gone but for the memory of her still dancing
happy
free,
And me stuck in the misery behind the wheel
of a cheap and shoddy
second hand deal.

How do I feel?
Ask me when I learn to feel again
Ask me when the pain I feel again and again has left
how does one bereft
feel?
When all the morning does is sets the seal on yet another day
and all that I can do is pay for my mistake
in one more piece of never ending
heartbreak.
We.
Men like me don't grow on trees
we're made in secret factories
and shipped off to the reject stores
or shops that deal in damaged goods.
Men like me don't grow in woods.

You won't see many of me around
and if not for the if but what's
and spots that dance between my eyes
I'd think that what I said was lies
but I know it's not.
But what if buts became but if's and poor old stiffs like me could forget they came from the factory and fit in with some form of socialised society
(not secret) for I've had enough of them
men like me don't grow on trees.

Please yourself that's what you do
get a man that's just like you
and just like you he'll let you down
but sacrifice that pride
and look inside the men that do not grow on trees
if you please.
What if today is the day
what if this is what we've been waiting for
are you ready for it to hit you
and if it doesn't bite you
might you
be
sad
glad that you were left out in the outside
on the slow slide
what if today is the day?
Only one way to find out.
One more Summer.

Then shorn of all reason..
..born..but for a season
and gone.
Dust.
Just an image in the flicker of time.
A line in a book we took as our own.
The memory of a home..
..only loaned for a while.
The smile on a face..
..in case we forget.
Yet, we'd do it again
We would go through the pain of it all..
..for that season
That reason
For life.
I stare in you eyes
See a story you want to share
Why do you hide
Many sides I do not know
It's okay to let it show
Only when you chose to grow
The yes do not lie
It's natural to cry
Window to the soul
Love offers a sparkling glow
Blink or wink tell me what you think
Eyes grab interest eyes see the way guide you through the day

— The End —
