Chase Fire
in a candlelit forest
I sketch the faces
of ancient trees...
my new notebook
already haunted

Chase Fire
dandelion fuzz
floating through
my fingers
I touch someone else's
dream

I washed my bed sheets before you came over
in hopes that if they were clean,
your scent would linger once you left.

And now that you've gone?

They smell like sunlight on a spring day.

They smell like love in the morning.

So I burrow myself next to your heart and count the time that's passed.
Wonderful...
They smell like
*you.
kinda sappy and not very good...
happy anniversary, luv.

Between ******* I hold a coin
a token of unspoken desires
it doesn't matter if it's a penny turned teal
because right now the cold of the metal
is all that I can feel
You're supposed to toss it in
Throw your hopes into the water
Shut your eyes and make a wish
Trust the earth's everlasting hunger
Hold your breath, give the wind a kiss
I allow gravity to take its course
watching the sparkle through the dark depths
seeing my dreams being swallowed
submerged in lies and forgotten lives
and everyone who followed
*I really like the title/theme of this poem, but I'm having a hard time executing it. (hence this is the second version)

I want to be the wind as it whispers
its deepest secrets to the trees
or the waves as they gently
kiss the shore goodnight
maybe the stars as they dance
and shine with the moon

but the wind moves too fast
for the trees to hear its words
and the waves only have a few seconds
before being dragged back out to sea
and the stars they are much
too far apart to dance together
and although they shine so bright from earth
they died along time ago

I wish I could burn all the memories of you from my skull
and tear away the skin you touched
but my bones aren't trees
for your forest fire
