Elizabeth Squires
Upon high throne the Iona queen doth sit
From lofty seat she lauds over us all
The servile answer to her every call
She wields a most authoritative hit
None shall try to take her top position
For she is regent of the regal realm
Verily preordained twas her supreme helm
We subjects recognize this condition
Our eyes are trained on her everything
Wavering our attentions must not be
She wears the crown of importance so well
Hail her reign may it continue to ring
The peoples of her land filled with glee
Her majesty hath a rule which is so swell
Rhyme scheme... abba, cddc, efgefg.

emblazoned
in letters large
none could miss the huge advertizement
the insignia
had much self aggrandizement

the cap did well accord
with the egotistical *****
who wore it
big on being full of himself
such importance

it is no stretch of the imagination
his beret did fit him comfortably
upon his overly inflated crown
it sat perfectly
A prompt from a fellow poet inspired this write...

hey there pretty lady
I'm beguiled by your smile
do you think that maybe
you could stay awhile

I've a million things
I want to say to you
I've a whole lifetime
to spend loving you

I've been waiting for you
forever so long
now that I've found you
my heart is full of song

my gift of love
for you I declare
its fond endowment
we'll always share

hey there pretty lady
I'm beguiled by your smile
do you think that maybe
you could stay awhile

breathe love
into my veins
cold and forgotten
these caverns of bane
breath love into my veins
stir them to life
with your tepid
refrains

withered
all the oxygen
hath expired
come revive
them again
to existence

breathe love
resurrect
redeem
my veins
in the body of your
loving strains

Verse 1

on the stock market floor lay losses galore
and in time they'd be redeemed
a price collapse saw the upward trend end
it would be a long haul pulling it out of the pall
ooh, ooh and in time they'd be redeemed
busted at the seams were all the investment schemes
putting paid to fortune's prosperity
the dream run had less future's equity
New York's exchange took a hammering

Chorus

ooh, troubled was the trading
ooh, troubled was the trading

Verse 2

as we watched the steep downward slide
the money men didn't feel like smiling
a wrecking bear had hit finances in the kitty
shocking became the fiscal outlook

Chorus

ooh, troubled was the trading
ooh, troubled was the trading

Verse 3

and the homeless dwellers in the slums
look in bins for something to eat
and they've no dosh to buy a passage out
and this is their unfair place in society
once the cream could be skimmed
yet nothing is left but life's grieving
on and on the losing streak goes
there's always a cycle of poverty
and troubled was the trading
resigned to fate's course of lows
the market floor held in distress
gloom beset the bright lights in dull tones
your redeeming breath can be inhaled
an injection of capital will aid
ghetto dwellers all in want
wealth is but for the few
monied folk posses the long bond
forgotten all the people in need
values riding on a share price
who is listening to the tune
it tells of crash and of boom
this we all know too well

Outro

and in time they'd be redeemed

( by Elizabeth Squires and SilverSilkenTongue in Collaboration)

In an idle ilk the poet
Did **** precious time
Non pursuant twas he
Of that haunting rhyme

The Tap tap tap of his Thumbs
In pulse to the Anxiety that Comes
Resistant and Hesitant this Choice of Word
Like crows on a wire flitting to and fro
Simply to be Assured who is top Bird

He mulled in thought
On his composition
Yet not acting on it
Due to a stalling disposition

Caught in a Web, of Websters Dictionary
Assonance and Consanace Fundimentaly
He Chews each Syllable to Spit out
The Misconstrued Vowels that he Shouts!

wedding bells peal o'er the dales to-day
they peal in a most exuberant way
their pealing tells of endless happiness
which shall last with much gleefulness

matrimony a blessing of enduring love
a troth gifted by the Lord up above
choirs of birds shall sing of devotion
as the wedded couple bind in adoration

wedding bells peal o'er the dales to-day
they peal in a most exuberant way
their pealing tells of endless happiness
which shall last with much gleefulness

the sacred vows of love ever entwining
holding through the years of shining
love's sweet bloom flourishing so bright
in a divine accord of special delight

wedding bells peal o'er the dales to-day
they peal in a most exuberant way
their pealing tells of endless happiness
which shall last with much gleefulness

a life time of endearments they'll share
beginning on the nuptial day so fair
a kiss of blissfulness sealing the oneness
between the couple in true togetherness

wedding bells peal o'er the dales to-day
they peal in a most exuberant way
their pealing tells of endless happiness
which shall last with much gleefulness
