Secret Of The Soul

Im opening up a window
In the center of my soul
So all the world can finally see
This secret that I hold

This secret that I share with you
Is precious to my heart
Hidden for so very long
That I dont know where to start

My secret tells a story
Of two soul's lost in time
And of a love that has been found
Between your heart and mine

A secret life of loving you
Hiding feeling deep inside
While knowing what I wanted most
Was to have you by my side

As tender mercy turns the page
I  know now  it is time
I will spend my future in your arms
And start a brand new life

So im openimg up a window
In the center of my soul
So all the world can finally see
This secret that I hold

This poem was written with the help and encouragement of Mike Hauser. He tried to break me out of my sappy love poems but apparently I am just a helpless romantic and fell back into my sure and true style..lol. Little changes Mike little changes and I break out in about one in ten poems. Also Bob Browning contributed a few changes in lines to make this more smooth. This is  what I call asking for help and receiving it when you have a block and need a push. Great thanks to Mike and Bob for this help.

Have You Ever Lost A Smile

Have you ever lost a smile
One you wished that you had back
A smile you lost freely
When a smile was all you had

Did you see the smile on their face
As they walked out of the room
Were you happy that you lost it
Because it changed their point of view

Have you ever lost a smile
That you gave to someone else
Did they take the smile and keep it
Or did they pass the smile around

A smile lost just may be found
If you look around the room
Someone else may have a smile
One that they dont mind you use

You can loose a smile every day
And still have one to loose
If you loose a smile to someone else
And a smile comes back to you

Smile

Test Of Time

There is a feeling of excitement
As we start a brand new love
Not knowing what the other feels
And not wanting to mess up

So I try to show my best side
In a hope that they will see
The person that I really am
Not just the outer me

It takes some time to understand
What a person's really like
To see if what they are inside
Is more then meets the eye

That excitement of that someone new
Over time will fade away
It is only then that we will know
If the love was meant to stay

So I will not rush to fall in love
Or to call that person mine
For only then will true love grow
And stand the test of of time

Today

Today I do this just for me
I start to care for what I need
Listen to what I feel inside
And allow myself a better life

Today I decide to change my mind
Leave old habits far behind
Realize what was plain to see
That we were never meant to be

Today I let go the past
Find new love and make it last
Allow my soul to be renewed
And give my heart to someone new

Today move forward and never back
I embrace the future and leave the past
The memory of you I now let go
Today I wanted you to know
Today

My New Found Fashion Trend

You know I never really understood
How they wear their pants that way
Pull them down to their knees
And walk around all day

But they say it is the fashion
It's a new trend I should try
That underwear is very cool
And catches peoples eyes

So I decided I should try it
I pulled my pants down way too far
Then to show the world how hip I was
I walked through Central Park

All the children were excited
I saw them point my way
They even told their teacher
But she made them look the other way

Well then two cop's they came running
I assumed to see my style
I thought my trend was catching on
But the cop's they didn't smile

Those cops they'd start a new trend
One I didnt like as much
They put my hands behind my back
And slapped on silver cuffs

Now this jail cell seems so small
With this big man next to me
He says he'll be my best friend
And that he likes just what he sees

So glad to see the courtroom
Filled with people from the streets
But they say rethink your fashion trend
If you're wearing a G-String

Now the judge he was not happy
But he did not give me time
He said wear a G-String where you want
No one can take that right

You see the Judge he wore a G-String
Underneath his long black robe
He did not find me guilty
So a free man I could go

So I walked outside of the courtroom
As a free man once again
And became so very famous
For my new found Fashion Trend

Downsizing

Downsizing, thats what they say
All my friends say ill be okay
That I'll find a job right away
If only they could see the pain

Downsizing, thats what they say
They lock the doors at close today
Now what am I supposed to do
Am I to old to start out new

Downsizing, thats what they say
No more work means no more pay
Twenty years at this job
They say the work now must stop

Downsizing, thats what they say
All for shareholders that must be please
Do they know the pain they've caused
So many families now feel lost

Downsizing, thats  what they say
We lost so many jobs today
Not just me but many friends
Today we know it all must end

Downsizing, thats what they say
Moved our jobs overseas
Chasing just the bottom line
All to make them one more dime

Downsizing

Waiting In Line For Nothing

Waiting in line for nothing
Thats how I feel each day
Wanting to move forward
Waisting my life away

Giving all I have to give
New hope with each new day
Not listening to that voice inside
Telling me to walk away

Waiting in line for nothing
For a change that will not come
Trying to give you all I can
Refusing to give up

Wishing you would love me
Calling out your name
Hoping that you hear me
And cryin every day

Waiting in line for nothing
In the morning I'll be gone
I cant wait for you to love me
For the waiting line's to long

Waiting in line for nothing

The Story Of Shoestring Jeb

This is the story of Shoestring Jeb
Everyone said he had a hard head
Jeb was a fighter, one of the best around
Till one day it was that Jeb hit the ground

Jeb had never lost a fight
He was known as being as fast as light
Jeb was a hero in my part of town
Known as the greatest fighter around

For sure now, it was surprise to see
Who Jeb lost to and buckeled his knees
No one would ever think it could be
That Jeb would fall to little Sally Marie

Sally Marie was a bitty little thing
But she used her size to bring down Shoestring
No flurry of punches to knock out his teeth
She blew him kisses and said he was sweet

Jeb was beaten by a punch never seen
No more fighting at the request of Sally Marie
Jeb lost that last fight but some say that he won
Sally Marie took him out with a punch of true love

Carl Joseph Roberts.

I see a sequel in the future. The continueing life of Shoestring Jeb...lol
A break from my usual heart felt, past, teach a lesson, make you cry, laugh and think poems. This one is just a made up fun one to try something different.

Shoestring Jeb
(Continued Part 2)

Shoestrimg Jeb was a very calm man
Always willing to lend you a hand
Jeb would never try to offend
And if he did he would ask to forgive

Now Sally Marie was Jeb's true love
And he gave to her all he had
He promised her he would never fight
Kept his word till they took her life

Sally Marie was home one day
Three men broke in and had their way
Jeb came home and saw his wife
She was stabbed ten times, he watched her die

The bar was dark, Jeb saw three men
Drinking and laughing over what they did
They saw Jeb but they didnt run
A big mistake, Jeb had his guns

Jeb's guns were his arms, never lost a fight
He beat those men, one at a time
Tied a showstring around three mens necks
Pulled it tight till each one was dead

Jeb never felt bad, not for what he did
He used his shoestrings to **** three men
The law looked twice but wouldnt convict
But Jeb never wore shoestrings again

Now if you see a man with no shoestrings in
Remember this story of Shoestring Jeb
Sally Marie was the love of his life
Three men took her,........ Three men died

Just opinions and we all have them
It is not my intention to offend
My poems they come from my soul
Formed by passion and sometimes bold
Though you may not like what I say
I have a right to feel this way
These poems I write are mine alone
If you don't like then just move on
No need to message and threaten me
I will not change to meet your needs
I have been a cop way to long
Do not think your words can harm
If you dont like what I say
Just message me and it's okay
Choose your words and we can debate
I will delete words of hate
Just opinions and we all have them
It is not my intention to offend
My poems come from my soul
Formed by passion and sometimes bold

Carl Joesph Roberts
Written in response to several who have messaged me concerning my last poem, Profiling. I realize it is a tough subject with incidents that have occurred recently but this is just one view, my view. I love a debate and I will discuss my views with anyone. I however will not listen to, post or allow to stay, words of hate.  Those who know me , know that I would never tolerated prejudice and I will erase words of hate immediately. Again if you have a problem them simply say so in words that do not promote hate or violence. Thanks for reading my poems and if you read them you.will see that prejudice thoughts are the furthest thing from my mind.  Thanks again for reading... Joe

Profiling
( A Cops View)

Profiling, it can save a life
Now Im not saying its always right
But we see something thats out of place
And we're supposed to look the other way

Dont judge a person by there looks
What they drive or who there with
No matter what the time of day
We cannot question what they say

Your mind tells you there's something wrong
That this person does not belong
Still im not allowed to question them
About where they're going or where they've been

But commit a crime or someone dies
Then the whole community they question why
For the Officers should have known
That guy, that car, they don't belong

We cant profile all by itself
The law requires we have something else
It is a tool that we can choose
But not the only tool to use

Profiling, it can save a life
Now I'm not saying it's always right
No one tool should be abused
But if it saves a life,..... ill profile you

Carl Joseph Roberts
Apparently I have ticked some people off with this poem. Let me say this again, Profiling alone without just cause and additional actions is wrong. Profilimg because of color of skin is always wrong. Profiling is not however just a color thing. Profiling can be used with other tools to determine if you should take an additional step.  Never used alone and never because of color of skin of weather the person has money or not.

How To Write A Perfect Poem*

So you want to write a poem
You hope all the world will want to view
One that brings up feelings
That can change a life or two

Should you try to make if funny
And make the reader laugh
Or maybe a love story
That can bring a feeling back

Should you try to bring them into it
And make them feel the pain
Show a different side of you
Or a new path they should take

Do you let them see the hurt inside
Or the joy of something new
Make them ask a question
Or answer one for you

Just know that many poets of the past
Have been read by very few
And each poem can be perfect
If it touches only you*

This poem was deleted from my list, not sure why so i am re posting it.

My Waiting Time Is Done

I was waiting for you to find me
And I waited much to long
Ready to share my love again
But knowing you are gone

Waiting to have that feeling
Of a love that is so true
Knowing love is out there
I was waiting just for you

Waiting to hear your voice again
Trying to understand
Wanting to see your smile
Needing to hold your hand

I know now that you never cared
And I waited way to long
With a broken heart I say these words
My waiting time is done

Carl Joseph Roberts
This is the answer to one of my earliest poems called The Waiting Time.
