Buried inside
Wrenching pain
of Untold truths
and Secrets maintained

Alone in crowds
Invisible to eyes
Can't they hear
My Silent Cries

Tired and weary
Heartache swells
The world ignores
My muted yells

Tears descend
Spirit sighs
Won't anyone hear
My Silent Cries*

What Dreams Are For

You do not need to run from life
Or hide the real you
Help the world understand
Change their point of view

Always run towards the truth
Follow your hearts desire
Be bold and brave, dont back down
Keep fueling your passions fire

Become that special something new
Make a mark for all to see
Show them there's a fire inside
That sets your passions free

Why just run when you can fly
Spread your wings and soar
Reach for that highest star above
Thats what dreams are for

Cursor. Stare vacantly back at me.  A pair of rough hands scrape against cheeks.  My own.
A faint yet familiar soreness in the back of the throat.
Christmas lights procure rings of color on the walls and make still for an instant
mounting apprehension.

Count the days.

Recount.

Plan each day, hour by hour. Compelled to use them to their fullest potential.
Productivity.
Type without fear. Without concern for that looming pair of eyes to examine this.

A verbalization of [my own dark thoughts] “It’s not good enough.” “ It’s garbage."

Jagged hands. Jagged hands to delicate hairs on the back of the neck.  Above ear and pushed from forehead.  Soreness in throat keeps me [grounded].
Soreness in heart sends me to dream.
Soft groan escapes a pair of lips as a pair of eyes find a likeness captured in pixels.
Close it shut put it down look away deep breath in.

Distract.

Distract with learning.
The inextinguishable desire to know, to see, to understand [this]
existence.

Will one day I allow for eyes not my own to bear witness to this love poem?
This love poem to life, both in a particular and universal sense.

With timid hands and trembling insides I surrender

*my words.

Milestone

Today I hit a milestone
Another year it now have passed
Looking forward to my future
Taking time to love and laugh

I remember as a child
I could not wait to grow
Not knowing all that I would see
What I would need to know

As a teen I never listened
To what others had to say
Believing that no matter what
My life would be okay

It seems like only yesterday
When I turned twenty one
That day they first presented me
My shield and my gun

I remember how I felt
The day my child was born
The special love inside my heart
For a soul that I adore

A marriage to someone I loved
That I vowed to always hold
Not knowing of the future pain
And how it would unfold

A life  with many ups and down
Some say rich as well as poor
Family, friends and those I've loved
Always welcomed at my door

Today I reached a milestone
Another year it now has passed
Looking forward to my future
Taking time to love and laugh

I want to give thanks to all the great poets that have allowed me to read your works over this last year. I have been on Hello Poetry for one year as of February 20th. It is with amazement that each day I read amazing poems from so many amazing poets.. Each poem I read throughout the year I consider a present. Thank you all.

Be The Shining Light

You can sit and wonder where life has gone
And watch each year go past
Or have the life that others want
And take some time to laugh

Each morning as you start your day
You must open up your mind
See the world a different way
And leave the past behind

You can choose the side that others see
And help them follow you
Lead them to a better place
And show them something new

It matters not who you are
Or where you are in life
Guide the way for all to see
Be the shining light

What You Get Instead

Sometimes what you ask for
Is not exactly what you get
And the thing that you need the most
Is what you get instead

You may think that you're not lucky
Nothing ever goes your way
But if you see a different side
Your life begins to change

When you see a different side
Have a different point of view
Thats when it seems to all work out
And life is good to you

There comes a time in your life
When you reach a certain  age
And all the things that you want
They all begin to change

Sometimes what you ask for
Is not exactly what you get
And the thing that you need the most
Is what you get instead

Acting Out Of Habit

Acting out of habit
I go about my day
Pretending that the love I feel
Will somehow go away

There is a feeling in my heart
That I hide deep within
A secret love that I feel
Whenever they walk in

I tell myself they're taken
I can never be with them
Knowing that with just a chance
I would let a love begin

I cannot change who I am
Or the way I feel inside
Hopeing they will somehow see
And want me in their life

Acting out of habit
I go about my day
Pretending that the love I feel
Will somehow go away

Acting out of Habit

To Finally Do Whats Right

Someone from so long ago
Has come into my life
Giving me a second chance
To finally do whats right

Not knowing how to start again
We stumble through the night
Tell each other stories
Of how we've  lived our lives

We sit and talk for hours
Reminisce about the past
Share our thoughts and feelings
And take some time to laugh

We have that something special
That we feel deep inside
The comfort of two long lost souls
Walking side by side

Someone from so long ago
Has come into my life
Giving me that second chance
To finally do whats right

I think I'll  do whats right

Each And Every Day

I try to see the man inside
When others turn away
They all pretend that he's not there
Each and every day

I bring coffee in the mornings
To help warm his inner soul
We talk about the life he lives
How his day it will unfold

I give advice on where to go
When the weather gets to cold
Knowing that the words I say
He hears but will not hold

I check on him each morning
And make sure that he's alright
Hoping that he heard my words
Found shelter through the night

He tells me that the bottle
Is what keeps him warm inside
I know that he will not let go
Of the comfort it provides

I try to see the man inside
When others turn away
They all pretend that he's not there
Each and every day

The Smile In My Eyes

I used to have a smile
In my eyes when you walked in
Believing  that the love we shared
Would somehow never end
There was a feeling of excitement
Each time you looked my way
Something touched my inner soul
It grew stronger every day
Then all at once the smile was gone
And my eyes they filled with tears
Inside of me a sadness
That will never disappear
I used to have a smile
In my eyes when you walked in
Believing that the love we shared
Would somehow never end.

I used to have a smile

I could kiss you and like it

          Pressing slowly

Thrilled

     by the softness
               of your flesh

Compelled

     To ****
          Upon your upper lip

     And bite
         Gently upon the lower

Surfing the tidal waves
          of your tongue

                    Synchronizing auras

I'd breathe you in

       Absorb your energy

And exhale life

I could kiss you
                  And like it

Indeed Love it
                  And make you Mine.*

The Power Of A Whisper

A whisper makes you listen
It can stop you in your tracks
Can gives words different meaning
Create memories that will last

Whispers cause new feelings
They can change a point of view
Will help to stop the anger
When someone's mad at you

A whisper gives true comfort
Allows a calming peace within
If you listen very closely
You'll hear a whisper in the wind

A whisper sometimes can be heard
From way across a room
To feel the power of a whisper
Just whisper I Love You

Whisper
