I keep wondering over here
Whatever happened to Van Gogh's ear
The one he cropped in a fit of love
And was that before or after a few beers

Did he send it out in the post
With a return address
Did she at one time say Van lend me your ear
Did he exclaim I can do that

Was it red and gooey inside
Like a Valentines day surprise
When she opened it up and saw it was an ear
Could she belive her eyes

I myself am not a romantic
But I'm pretty sure this is not how it's done
At least not on this side of the planet
No matter how madly in love

Now that the ear of Van Gogh looks like escargot
Feel free to chew on that fact
Which brings me back to haunt my original thought
I wonder where the ears now at

Pain for you never again this side of life
All is now calm and easy and so sail on
True to this life's eternal golden rules
Rich in truth and kind you'll for ever be
If sturdy as can be, these rules you breathe
Cherishing morsel and largess in measure alike
Knowing that times move towards a zenith
I thought to try this idea that Kikidinho is so good at. How does this grab you Kiki mate? I hope that some Patrick out there finds this relevant.

A bird whistles at my window
pretty song
A train whistles after midnight
rude awakening
A dog whistles to attract birds
then eats them
A man whistles alongside the tracks
a railroad tune
Sung years ago
Perhaps in Hackensack
Perhaps

When it comes down to it all
I'd rather be a dog
Laying in the shade all day
With nothing going on

When I want fun I'll bark and run
Chase a ball to kingdom come
Lick anyone that comes along
Mess on the floor and then play dumb

Thought about this more than some
I'd rather be a dog
My favorite pastime all day long
Gnawing on a bone

If I get bored I'll scratch myself
Being fed by someone else
With table scraps I'll gladly help
With no sane reason I'll madly yelp

If I should ever get the call
I'd rather be a dog
Short or skinny, fat or tall
I'd rather be a dog

I'd  bark if I need to go out
Sniff here and there then there about
Dig up every last inch of ground
Go heebie jeebies at the slightest sound

I've thought about this long and tall
I'd rather be a dog
Never would I be a cat
As if that's a choice at all
