Her body lay crooked and peaceful on the pavement. She didn't close her eyes until she hit the ground and it was over in a way it had never been before.
The wind felt so soft against her skin yet harsh in her ears, blocking out all other sound. Falling, she was graceful in a way she had never been before.
She thought of her dog, and how she'd be alone and hopefully someone would feed her. She'd forgotten to do the dishes.

She thought of the time she met that guy from Chicago. Ben was his name. They had *** in his car in a dark alley, next to a dumpster.
He never took her shirt off and that was the only one-night stand she would ever have. Maybe she should have written more than "Goodbye" on that napkin.
She thought of her mother's grave and her father's will. Her whole life didn't flash before her eyes like she'd heard it would.

She ended up falling backwards like someone would catch her. She couldn't decide whether to leap or just keep walking.
As she stood on the edge, she noticed the city was beautiful in a way it never had been before.
The wind was cold and threatening
and she realized she was afraid of heights. She took off her shoes and it only took one step to get where she needed to be.

As she walked across the top of the building, she didn't cry and she was calm in a way she never had been before. She got off on the twentieth floor and climbed the two flights of stairs to
the roof. When she got on the elevator, six people joined her and no one
asked questions and she was alone in a way she never had been
before. She walked the eight blocks to the building she
knew and tried to appreciate all the small
things but the air smelled like
hot dogs and no one
on the street was
smiling.

She locked her apartment door and dropped the keys on the floor. They made that sound only that keys and loose change can make. Before she left she looked in the mirror by the door
and noticed her reflection was so confident in a way it never had been before.
She almost wished she could cry but that seemed silly so she closed all
the blinds instead. She looked at the clock and it was half past six
and it was time to go in a way it never had been before.

i try to carve myself
into something
that people admire
and some, desire

i choose my words
so carefully
and do my best
to appear as pretty

yet wonder on
i must persist
and all along
i wont be missed

There was an Old Man on a hill,
Who seldom, if ever, stood still;
He ran up and down,
In his Grandmother's gown,
Which adorned that Old Man on a hill.
Skipping pebbles and watching the ripple
Reach out until it fades , or its fingers grasp
At the sand on the edge of the bank.
A sad gesture I think,
It seems Just like me,
Always leaping and reaching
And feeling it fall between your fingers
Drop like shaking knees
Like sand on the bank
Takes some patient observations
To find reason to thank
Salty tears pool like the ones that linger
On my porcelain cheek,
Feeling mild and momentarily
Enveloped in the telling tropical storm
The whirling wind whistling through the hole in my chest
Reminding me I’m torn
The pain of each beat just like the next
Breaking wake against sand
A rip tide against my
Washed out pride
Warm water against my skin
If you would touch my tears
I think you’d understand
The sorts of feelings
I’m wading in.
Little idiosyncrasies that define you
More than the edge created by the light
Refracting off your dark skin
The give of your full lips against
My porcelain surface set
To tingle at your sultry glances,
The kind you give before pouncing
The stance you take and that
Tiny noise you make when
My rhythms right
Or I've managed to catch your attention
And lure you in'
A million different things
Wrapped around me perfectly wonderful
Absolutely astounding
Like racing heartbeats and your arms around me.
The kinds of memories I’m glad are ours
With all the you things that make me
Glad that I’m yours.

it seems
i've always loved
tragic things
and hated
happy endings
The distance between us is certainly
the most unintentionally malevolent thing in the universe.

No comfort can be found
within the cold arms of those monolithic miles.

The cruelest curse god bestowed upon us when we dared to sin
was the ability to miss a touch you've never felt-
and long for a voice you've never heard-
to fall in love with people you'll never meet-
and places you'll never go-
to obsess over things that'll never happen.

The only love we know is unrequited,
and solitude is our closest companion.

This is the carnage of our reality.
We have worn our voices raw screaming each other’s names towards the heavens.
We sing this dreadful dirge in memoriam                                                                                                                        Of all of the dreams that will never come true.
