I am not a colour!

I am not a colour!
I am a person,
I am not a class,

I am not a race,
I am a human,
Therefore,
I am not a colour.

We are with you,
In thoughts and prayer,
Broken hearts,
Our love we share,

A wicked world,
It shouldn't be,
We hold your hand,
For liberty,

Liberty from,
Your tears and sorrow,
We hold your hand,
Today and tomorrow,

We try to comfort you,
We are always near,
Take our love,
Know now in your fear,

We are with you,
Strong and pure,
Forever loved,
Forevermore.

The lost key
Tina ford Jul 2016
Please don't leave me,
Even though I forget,
The day I gave birth to you,
The day that we met,

Please don't blame me,
Even though I cannot mind,
The days and weeks happenings,
They get mixed up all the time,

Please don't shout at me,
When I can't remember why,
I emptied all the cupboards,
I don't want to make you cry,

Please don't lose faith in me,
I'm here, just through the door,
That I've lost the key to,
I can't find it anymore,

Please don't be sad for me,
As my memories are all here,
They're just hiding away for a little while,
Some sneak out with a tear,

Some roll down my cheeks,
I wipe them to one side,
And although I never speak of them,
They are all here, inside,

So please don't ever leave me,
Your my only thing that's real,
I know I cannot show it, but,
I do feel what you feel,

I still have that beating heart,
That brought you life and soul,
The same blood runs through our vein's,
To love you was my only goal,

So please don't ever leave me,
In a place that's not my home,
Keep me, with things, my life,
So that I'm never alone.

Drum
Tina ford Jul 2016
In the distance I hear them,
Under the silence I see them,
The drums of beating hearts,
Past, present and future,
They thunder over the memories of our ancestors,
They roar through the veins of our young,
They are the drums of truth,
Beating timelessly and in rhythm,
With the stars,
Your universe,
Your very being,
Be the drum,
Be the loudest drum,
Because I can hear your beat already.

Tiny fires
Tina ford Jul 2016
Don't believe those who pull you down,
They're trying to dull your flame,
Don't believe those who put you to high,
Promising fortune and fame,

Believe in the you, your soul and mind,
You are in control of your fire,
You can keep it within and cause no sin,
You can let it out when you desire,

You can use it for your advantage,
For your passions and dreams that you yearn,
Stoke that fire within your soul,
Educate yourself and learn,

For you are the bearer of your lifes torch,
Shine and let it be seen,
Glow from your heart and fingertips,
Because now it is your turn,

You are your future, be happy,
For you are the youth of today,
Let me see your fire, go for your desire,
And burn every obstacle away,

Because I believe in you children,
I can coz I see your beam,
Join together and fight for the right of a life,
Bring to reality your dream.

Sleep the 96
Tina ford Apr 2016
Sleep the 96,
May your slumber be free,
From lies pain, hidden truth,
And disparity,

Sleep the 96,
On the shoulders of your home,
For 27 years we walked with you,
You never walked alone,

Sleep the 96,
May your hearts like ours be light,
For justice came, the time is now,
We never gave up your fight,

Sleep the 96,
Liver birds sing your song,
With pride, truth and justice,
What we believed all along,

Sleep the 96,
May your slumber be deep and true,
Until we meet again my friends,
Justice was won for you.

For all who lost their lives and for all who walked through the storm.
Hold your heads up high ***

Working class snatcher
Tina ford Apr 2016
Maggie Thatcher working class snatcher,
Don’t look twice coz she’ll come at ya,
She’ll grind your bones to make her bread,
She will take your pride and on it tread,

She takes your voice, so speak no more,
She will try to ruin man forevermore,
Racism, her middle name,
For people who won’t play her game,

Iron lady! I’m not sure,
She thrived on stealing from the poor,
Even on her day of fall,
She takes ten million from us all,

Privatising our very lives,
Sorrowful tears filled many eyes,
But as years passed and went,
We grew strong against the government,

And with her on her burial day,
The secrets of the 96 lay,
For the kids and poor she did not cater,
We will not weep for this dictator.

Tis only me.
Tina ford Mar 2016
I wear my heart on my sleeve,
I'm easy to deceive,
But I always believe,
In my dreams,

I am clever and bright,
I never fight,
I'm not always right,
About life,

I see far ahead,
Pictures in my head,
Me laying on my bed,
I have made,

I am optimistic,
Quite simplistic,
Somewhat idealistic,
On my path,

My heart is a drummer,
My soul a long summer,
My brain is a ******,
For  good choices,

My blood runs quicker,
Than the finest of liquor,
Than one million nicker,
But really,

I'm nothing so special,
Like white platinum metal,
But I'll happily settle,
To be me.

He is the magic.
Tina ford Feb 2016
He looks at me with fireworks in his eyes,
He says,
I am incredible,
He says,
I am like magic,
I just laugh it of,
But secretly I like how he makes me feel,
Secretly I like his compliment,
He speaks to me with rays of sunshine,
He says,
I am amazing,
He says,
I am like magic,
I just shyly look away,
But secretly I want to look at him,
Secretly, I look at him,
He touches my face with warmth of a fire,
He says,
I am magnetic,
He says,
I am like magic,
But then,
He looks at me with fireworks in his eyes,
And I think,
It is he,
Who is incredible,
It is he,
Who is amazing,
It is he,
Who is magnetic, and,
It is he,
Who is the magic.

It's not a race.
Tina ford Feb 2016
It's not a competition,
This life that we all lead,
It makes no difference what goals we have,
Or how many kids we breed,

Material things don't matter,
Neither do homes or car,
Nights out, friends or social stance,
What others see from afar,

It's not how much you do each day,
How great you are for worth,
Underneath we are all naked and new,
Just as our day of birth,

I don't think that you get it,
I don't think that you know,
It's kindness that brings happiness,
No matter where you go,

So stop and think a minute,
Relax and take a breath,
Coz underneath we're naked,
And not discriminated by death,

It's not a competition,
This life that we all face,
It's not how fast you walk or run,
This life is not a race,

Innocence eater
Tina ford Jan 2016
I will name you and shame you, in public, at will,
I will point out your face in the crowd,
I will tell all the secrets that I've kept inside,
I will scream them all out so loud,

Your a heartbreaker, a dream taker, a low life coward,
You snatched away my youth,
People will know what a sicko you are,
After they hear the truth,

Your a dog, a rat a vile waste of space,
I hope your mind brings you pain,
Your an innocence eater, liar and deceiver,
In hell you'll rot, again and again,

But wait!!!! Hold on, just stop still there,
Take a good long look it's me,
I've survived, revived, stayed alive,
Because I'm stronger than you'll ever be,

So when you see me, don't get a thrill,
Don't think you have ruined me,
Coz I'm telling the secrets to the judge in the court,
And they're gonna throw away the key.

The joy of choice
Tina ford Dec 2015
I believe in a world where you can be whatever you want to be,
Live free,
Don't fit in,
That's the joy of choice,
I believe in a world of acceptance,
Accept what is,
Embrace difference,
That's the joy of choice,
I believe in a world of humankind,
Be a happy human,
Be a kind human,
That's the joy of choice,
I believe in a world of choices to make,
Accept a choice or don't,
That is the joy of a choice,
What you choose is yours and yours alone,
Take it, make it and enjoy every bit of it,
That's the joy of you and your soul.

I know it is no good,
I feel it burn and churn and turn,
My vein's in pain,

There's poison in my heart,
I knew from the start,
I feel it beat, it's deceit and greet,
My soul, it's goal,

There's poison in my mind,
My being it will find,
I feel it grind and bind and unwind,
My kindness and will,

There's poison in my blood.

Time
Tina ford Dec 2015
Time don't matter to me,
I've been all I ever could be,
I've finished the end of the book,
It's my life, take a look,

Because time is but a space in our universe,
That has to be filled in so right,
And time well spent is a blessing,
That's given with our birthright,

So try to use it wisely and true,
Coz after all it's the best you can do,
Live your life well, be good, be kind,
Then time won't be lost, it'll all be fine,

Because time is but a space in our universe,
That has to be filled in so right,
And time well spent is a blessing,
That's given with our birthright.

Some poets!
Tina ford Dec 2015
Some poets are *****,
In fancy hats,
Spouting this and that's,
About next doors cats,

Some poets are higher,
Than an aeroplane flyer,
Shouting this is dire,
Down a microphone wire,

Some poets are seen,
As the old has been,
Swearing blue is green,
We know what they mean,

Some poets are ****,
And act like a twit,
Speaking filth and grit,
Boring??? A bit!,

But others are cool,
Done nothing at school,
They don't play the fool,
Their poetry is fuel,

It lights up a world,
For this working class girl,
They make life unfurl,
In an alphabet swirl,

They open the door,
To a life so secure,
Saying we can do more,
Giving dreams to the poor,

Some poets I admire,
For their burning desire,
Their words are on fire,
Of that I'll never tire.

Her mother I'll be.
Tina ford Dec 2015
I won't put her in a place where she'll be forgotten,
Where the floors are ***** and the bedclothes are rotten,
Where others will taunt her and strip her of pride,
And watch her slowly wither, when her soul has died,

I will keep her and love her, as she loved me,
I will cook clean and sew, her mother I'll be,
And for that I'll be thankful and keep in my sight,
As I pay back the love, that she gave so right,

I will cherish each moment, as if it were new,
I will learn things each day, as students do,
Coz I've not done this before for my mother you see,
I will feed her and clean her like she did for me,

I will learn her new songs and make her laugh,
I will tell her the stories from each photograph,
I will speak of a woman who is the queen of my life,
I will speak of a mother and a wonderful wife,

And she will listen as though she knows,
And nod her head as her memory grows,
And look at me through eyes that knew me then,
And hold me and make me feel home again,

And at night when I tuck her in bed,
I will lay a kiss on her beautiful forehead,
And whisper I love you, forget me not ever,
Because my love for her no one can sever,

And in the morning she won't be alone,
I won't be a voice on the end of the phone,
I will do what it takes to make her feel free,
And thank her daily for the life she gave me.

Why do you make me feel so sad,
So sad, because I cannot help my fellow men,
Fellow men suffer in silence,
In silence I cry, alone and afraid,
Afraid because I am incapable,
Incapable of bringing peace,
Peace is all I ask,
Ask and i shall receive you say,
You say you are there,
There for me, but I cannot see you,
See you or feel you,
You leave me, in my darkest hour,
Hour after hour, alone,
Alone, all alone at Christmas,

But WHO wanted war,

Not I or my clan,

Surely there's a way,
To bring peace today,

And the rich? They fly,

Slumber in silence
Tina ford Nov 2015
For tonight we slumber in silence,
Before the thud of the bombs fill our ears,
Sweetly drift to a dreamland place,
Let us hide away from our fears,

For tonight we rejoice in our freedom,
Before it's taken away by force,
Kindly thoughts of happy fun days,
Let them keep us on our course,

For tonight could be the ending,
Before our lives have even begun,
Peacefully sleep in a safe calm state,
Let the bullet stay in the gun,

For tonight could be our judgement,
Before the sunsets upon our land,
Before the one that we call our god,
Who will take us by our hand,

For tonight remember your loved ones,
Because tomorrow may never appear,
So love, be loved in your comforts,
Together we all face this fear.

Everybody wants a piece of peace,
From the kids in the school to the people in the street,
But it's not that easy in a world of want,
When need is overlooked and the children can't,

Everybody wants a piece of peace,
From the keepers of countries to the forces on the beat,
But it's not that easy with a selfish government,
When all the moneys gone and overspent,

Everybody wants a piece of peace,
From the city's and towns we all meet,
Together we can make it happen now today,
And make a better world for our kids to play.

Because of love,
And human kind,
No one can bend,
This strong heart line,

As one we love,
As our gods cry,
This world of many,
Shall break the tie,

And follow words,
Not on a page,
But scripted in a life,
Free from rage,

It will come,
It has been said,
When good and evil,
Fight till dead,

And from the pits,
A light will glow,
For goodness wins,

With evil gone,
The light of love,
Will shine on us,

I hear the children crying in my sleep,
I hear their parents dying as they weep,
I hear the waves blinding their glance,
I hear them praying for just one chance,

A chance for a life with peace of mind,
To live without fear from us, mankind,
A chance to run in fields of green,
A chance to forget the horror they'd seen,

They dream for a future of tranquillity,
They dream of a living like you and me,
They try to escape to a fairytale land,
But lose all their dreams under death's hand,

And some of you say, they're only immigrants,
Why should we give them a chance,
They only want money, to beg and steal,
It's heartless and cruel the way you feel,

These people are humans, like me and you,
Same dreams same wants, yes it's true,
They love and care and hope like me,
They feel, they cry, they long to be free,

My heart is aching for all humankind,
Words of comfort I cannot find,
I'm ashamed and disgraced by how you react,
Your not worthy of a soul and that's a fact.
Prayers for all those poor people. God bless them x

But nothing would come out,
I was frozen,

She looked at me, and said,
Who are you??
I felt my soul crumble into a million pieces,
And I stumbled,

Knowing,
She didn't recognize me,

She looked scared of me,
She truly did not know me,
How could this be,
I am her T,
And she....
She is my queen,
And her memory,
Is frozen.

The sound of my summer
Tina ford Jul 2015
The distant laughter broken by the waves of the Mersey is rushing through my ears,
The barbeque smells of burning lunches fill my eyes with salty tears,
Children's laughter carries along the promenade straight,
Puppy dogs playing at the old rusted gate,
This is the sound of my summer,
Teens on skateboards scratch down the path and weave,
Mobile phones beeping as the sun begins to breathe,
Cyclists whizzing by in a world of their own,
Kites flying high with excitement like they've never been flown,
This is the sound if my summer,
Gulls screeching loudly but somehow in tune,
Girls watching boys, their wavy hair they plume,
The breeze carries music from north to north west,
Sometimes getting lost under conversations and jest,
This is the sound of my summer,
Waves trickle gently onto the flats of mud,
A place where my ancestors once had stood,
No footprints linger on the darkened rich bank,
Just the waves trickling gently around the ship that once sank,
This is the sound of my summer,
As the evening drawers near a silence will fall,
The promenade will empty and the shadows stand tall,
The Mersey will settle to a soft and gentle flow,
The birds bring the night as the sun prepares to go,
This is the sound of my summer.

We grew up in it's shadows,
And so did our ancestors,
The pride of Garston town,
But they're taking away our crown,
They're breaking our history down,

A crown that grew so old,
Holding secrets never told,
Lives that came and went,
Memories gone and spent,

They're taking away our crown,
Garston will weep for the memories,
They're taking away our crown,
Our symbol of Garston town.

Typed lists of wishes
Is all I do it seems,

Nothing ever changes,
Even with the words I write,
They're just my lifes ideas,
This keeps them in my sight,

We have to keep on holding,
The dreams inside our head,
They keep us having faith in life,
Until that is, we're dead,

Then all our dreams and wishes,
Come alive and take our mind,
To pure and everlasting light,
It's what one day we'll find.

A memory talk,
In that lane,
That's not the same, to you,
Anymore,

Let us remember mum,
Remember it all,
That the lane,
Is the same,
Forevermore,

Can you remember me mum,
It's me, your T,
Please remember me,
I'm the same,
I am that lane,

That lane we walked,
That lane where we talked,
That lane filled with love,
Do you remember,
Do you remember,

Let's take a walk mum,
A long, long walk,
And visit your memories,
We will talk,
Along that lane.

A case of dementia
Tina ford Jul 2015
My suitcase is packed,
Memories within,
Won't fit any more,
As it's full to the brim,

Down at the bottom,
My memories from old,
Just beneath my jumpers,
That stop me being cold,

Just above them,
My adolescent years,
Leaving school and working,
Facing adult fears,

Marriage and family,
Lay on top of all that,
Five beautiful children,
Three dogs and one cat,

Then it's an empty layer,
But not to be treated less,
This is when the kids left home,
When they fled my loving nest,

In between are memories bad,
I tuck them to one side,
Or cover them up with happy times,
I still remember when I cried,

Then comes more difficult ones,
I struggle to remember them all,
But some I do intermittently,
I try so hard to recall,

So please forgive my memory,
It's not how it used to be,
But I'm still that same old person,
Who loves you for eternity,

I still have all the memories,
Packed tight inside my case,
Sometimes I just can't find them,
But you can find them on my face,

My wrinkles tell my story,
My eyes hold all my dreams,
My old and frail body now,
Is not all it was it seems,

But I'm here, I'm still here,
Just look at me, with my case,
You will see my life and memories,
In layer's etched on my face,

My suitcase is packed,
Memories within,
Won't fit any more,
As it's full to the brim.

If i was god
Tina ford Jul 2015
If I was god, I'd calm the storms,
I'd hush the seas and tide,
If I was god, I'd stop the wars,
Make humans stand by side,

If I was god, I'd banish all money,
Everything would be free,
If I was god, no one would hurt,
No human pain would be,

If I was god, I'd feed the world,
With fruits and vegetables galore,
If I was god, no illness be,
Like people suffered before,

If I was god, I'd make it right,
Paradise would be right now,
If I was god, no nightmares be,
Coz peaceful dreams I'd allow,

But wait a minute, god I am,
As each of us as well,
So stop this silly living now,
We've turned our earth to hell,

He's inside everyone of us,
You feel his beating heart,
That he gave to us so selflessly,
But other humans rip apart,

Breathe in your faith, whatever it be,
And exhale the love and pride,
We'll bless humankind together,
From here to universal wide.

Click Chick
Tina ford Jul 2015
I'm not a click chick,
I walk with a stick,
Sometimes I smell of baby sick,
So I can't be a click chick,
I walk with a limp,
Feel like a gimp,
Sometimes I look like a shrimp,
So I cant be a click chick,
I have a bed head,
Look half dead, sometimes I look underfed,
So I can't be a click chick,
Coz they're the perfect ones,
In their designer gowns,
At the school gates,
Nibbling after eight's,
At three fifteen,
They're the clicky mums,
Toned up bums,
Makes ups done,
For the school run,
Perfect hair,
It's just not fare,
I don't have the time to spare,
I'm not a click chick,
They think I'm thick,
They don't smell of baby sick,
They think they're cool,
At the school,
But I'm no fool,
I'm a good mum,
Wobbly ***, make up,
Not done,
But I'm a happy one,
My kids have fun,
Run in the sun,
End up ***** when the day is done,
We are all mums,
Not to be outdone,
At the school run,
So quit your stare,
At my messy hair,
My wrinkled jeans,
It's ok they're clean,
You think your better,
I beg to differ, you just look fitter,
So I don't wanna be a click chick,
I think I'll stick with the baby sick,
I'm a happy gimp with a limp,
I don't mind looking like a shrimp,
At the school gate,
Coz I'm never late,
So you can take your clicky group,
And stick it up your hula hoop.

Ghost
Tina ford Jun 2015
The hairs on my neck,
Tingle, and I shiver,
My spine locks straight,
And I try not to quiver,

My breath now visible,
It's colder in the room,
But I still fix my wedding veil,
For you to lift, my groom,

I know you are near me,
I can feel your presence, true,
I feel your hands upon my face,
It's time to be with you,

I lay upon our untouched bed,
And gather up my gown,
I feel you near our resting place,
I imagine you laying down,

I wish it all was different,
And our future would be clear,
Our perfect life together,
Will be somewhere else not here,

I take these pills, a deadly mix,
I turn to face, your side,
I whisper in cold shivering breath,
I'm ready to be your bride,

And just to break tradition,
It's not death until we part,
It is this death of life without you,
In my death, a brand new start,

As I start to drift to sleep,
Your here, I hear our tune,
You kiss me gently on lips so pale,
And we leave for our honeymoon.

The dot on the i
Tina ford Jun 2015
I'm just a little dot,
In the poetry world,
A dot on the letter I,
But I can make a difference,
I feel I can make a difference,
I don't know how,
But I can,
Maybe it will be a word,
A verse, a poem,
Or story,
It could be one word,
Or it could just be,
The dot on the I.

No good-bye's
Tina ford Jun 2015
Your not here,
Any more,
I watched,
As you walked through the door,

It closed,
I cried,
I hurt,
I knew you had died,

I called,
Your name,
I knew,
My life wouldn't be the same,

I wished,
For you,
To return,
Something you couldn't do,

I dreamt,
You where here,
We talked for hours,
You said, do not fear,

You said,
Love is forever,
You said,
We'll be together,

One day,
Not here,
Not there,
But we would be somewhere,

I'll wait,
I'm sure,
You will,
Come to knock on my door,

Until then,
I cry,
I didn't,
Have time to say goodbye.

Mersey fairies
Tina ford Jun 2015
When the sun sets on the Mersey bank,
And the clouds have gone to sleep,
When the promenade falls quiet and still,
The Mersey fairies peep,

When the tide has left for fairer shores,
And the boats are at their berth,
When the moon shimmers on the silvery bed,
They appear from the ancient earth,

Like fireflies beneath the dock,
They search through fields of mud,
Finding objects to take back home,
Like bottle tops and wood,

They flutter on the river breeze,
They're carried to the wreck,
They stay and play here for a while,
Throwing pebbles from the deck,

Whisping in and out of trees,
And flying up the street,
They stop outside a cottage door,
And wipe their muddy feet,

They creep in through the broken frame,
Into the cottage mill,
The smell of burning coal is strong,
They settle on the sill,

They warm their fragile bodies,
And shake about their wings,
Their comforts interrupted,
By an angelic voice that sings,

Upstairs there is a little girl,
Who combs her locks so long,
They watch with eyes of gold and green,
As she continues with her song,

The sprites see their reflection,
In the looking glass afoot,
They see their muddy faces,
Their clothing full of soot,

They scarper pretty quickly,
And cause a noisy thud,
They whisp and fly there way back home,
There home beneath the mud.

This is war
Tina ford Jun 2015
Birds tweet and sing as they hop from branches,
High in the evergreen above the concrete,
Children laugh and squabble on the cobblestones,
The factory bustle lightens and work time nears,
The sound of the siren in the distance,
Somehow brings a sense of comfort to me,
It's 8:45 and the sun is beating down,
Suddenly the noise stops and my heart beats faster,
The ssshhhhh sound of silence fills the air,
It hurts my ears and I hear my blood rushing,
The human traffic has halted, the children are quiet,
No one speaks a word, we just listen,
We listen as we walk to our place of safety,
Our home for the day, maybe longer,
We grabbed what bits we could and,
Settled in our new surroundings,
Then we hear it, that dreaded hum,
It's far away but it's coming here,
I breathe faster, my heart pumps faster,
Fear grips my soul my wholeness,
I panic, I sweat, I'm scared, I am dying,
The hum gets louder and deeper,
Some old lady starts to sing,
An old rebellious song,
It's tainted with fear on her breath,
I pulsate, my whole body pulsates,
The church bells toll,
The hum now becomes a buzz,
It's loud and scary and louder,
It's nearer, they are nearer,
The planes, the bombs, the destruction,
The old lady sings louder, people join her,
Others cry and rock back and forth,
Others comfort each other,
I sit alone, death my only friend now,
They are here,
They are here,
I hear the bombs screech as they fall,
It feels like forever,
Then bang, explosions around us,
Dust falls, walls shake, screams fill the world,
This is war.
