Falling star shimmers
Reflect in your moon dust eyes
*Wishes made of love

I live in the sun
She lives in the snow
My days are hot
Hers ten below

She dresses in layers
I’m shorts and a T
She builds a snowman
I play at the sea

She’s starting a fire
My A/C is on
She’s under a blanket
I’m out on the lawn

But she is so hot
And I am a fool
Living down here
And not where it’s cool

I’m packing my bags
Now ready to go
Leaving the sun
I’m off to the snow

And yes it is cold
There might be a storm
But held in her arms
I know I’ll be warm

And live ever after
Until I am old
No, not in the sun
With her in the cold
Brrrrrrr...but it's worth it.

The dream lives on
within my heart
And even though
we are apart

Every where
I look I see
You always are
a part of me

You're there
in every thing I do
I'm desperately
in love with you

And as another
day does start
The dream lives on
within my heart
You are my dream, always are, always will be

An echo floats on clouded skies
of charcoal misted silver streams
Above an arbor full abloom
in Jasmine breaths and rose hip dreams

Below the green of nature’s born
a bed of petaled slippers lie
On stones to paint a garden path
in whispered fragrance for the eye

Butterflies now dance the breeze
fluttered steps through marigold
Lilac filtered harmonies
bound of every story told

With lavender and lily smiles
along a fence of woven vine
Come walk with me where flowers play
*within this garden to be mine
Good morning

When was the last time
you climbed up a ladder,
looked at the sunset
through periscope eyes

Drank from the cabinet
marked liquor don’t enter,
watched an old movie
with tear drops and sighs

Danced in the garden
with daffodils watching,
sat down to dinner
and found something sweet

Floated on marshmallow
clouds on a Monday,
painted the lines
on the wrong one way street

Sang in a meadow
with butterflies playing,
swam in the dessert
neck deep in the sand

Picked up a quarter
and called it a dollar
even though ladybugs
slept in your hand

Read a new poem
and found something like this,
rolled both your eyes
and then wore a smile

Look at the bright side,
all that it cost you
was just spending time
with me for a while
Ok, maybe it wasn't worth it

I thought I found my forever,
just a few words walking the path
I have traveled by myself,
watching trees grow and weeds fill
as squirrels frolicked from branch to branch

Then more words and a feeling
created in my chest unexplained,
when a sunrise became you
in past minutes moving forward
from a tent in a park, still there

Sleep became an enemy of my happiness
when daylight moments were ours
Learning to wander in a new direction
following not streams with golden carp
but a heartbeat thumping in the smiles

You became a part of me, entwined
as a vine on a garden fence
Love bloomed, we bloomed together,*
autumn collected our thoughts
in the colorful leaf piles we played in

Winter brought its harsh frown,
still we warmed ourselves by the fires we tendered,
flames raging within our feelings,
touching from a distant dream,
reaching beyond delivered doubts

But it lingered, chilled wishes freezing,
snowdrift guilt lay waste on the side of the road
Slush filled our boots
and the season counted yet another victim
in its icy grip

I thought I found my forever,
now words have ended in shorter sentences
Silence cries on the arctic winds
and my forever has become
*a forever sadness, without a coming spring

I suggested leaning but they chose to jump. Never once looking to see what waited for them at the bottom. Still I called in a voice of heroic fashion, though slightly chapped from the lack of judgment shown. I stood listening for an echo or anything resembling a voice from the depths, but heard only waves, crashing against the rocks lining this coast of last chances. Gulls swooped and sang midnight songs while the moon snickered in its own lunar way. I found the darkness to be threatening as I peered over the edge, seeking but a plaid shirt, a pair of jeans or a chrome button dangling from an exposed root to no avail.  It had happened and poetry was the thief. Stolen in our prime, wading in shallow waters, watching ripples of time count minutes as our thoughts began to swim. It was no use, it beckoned and only one remained to answer the never ending call. So I dove head first into the phrases and verses that would spell my doom, sentenced for life, writing graphic details of those things my heart had held and my eyes had witnessed, knowing this was it, the end of my life as I knew it, lost forever in the abyss, the drowning point of creativity, poetic imprisonment and me without a swimsuit.

Spring is not that far ahead,
yet the  sidewalks are empty
as a cold rain falls and I wander
alone, hands in my pockets,
my head hung low

Staring at the puddles,
as my reflection stares back,
between the constant ripples
and I don't recognize
the sorrowed face that I see

Winter touches everything,
dripping from awnings
of the places we used to share,
now closed and boarded up,
empty like my heart

But still I keep walking
nowhere to be,
no one who wants me,
nothing to look forward to
as hope is now frozen

Spring is not that far ahead
though I will not find it
for winter is me and my world
will forever be cold without
the warmth of your love

Spider webs glisten
with droplets of dew,
geraniums facing the sun

Still all my thoughts
are directed at you,
you are my beautiful one

A meadowlark singing
her wonderful song,
welcoming everything new

As on this day
in this wonderful dawn
*I say good morning to you
Good morning beautiful

Dark clouded skies rest heavily
atop a slow motion morning
The faintest of breezes finds me
gazing upon this grey flannel dawn

The ash and chalk dust horizon
pulls my vision across a weary field,
as even the trees still slumber,
glistening dew dripping from each new leaf

Yet inside my heart is warmed
by the sunshine that glows brightly
because of your illuminating love,
cascading upon me in blue sky affection

And I say good morning beautiful
in soft whispers floating far beyond
the ominous heavens hoping to bring
*as wondrous a day to you as you do for me
Good morning Beautiful

*A face and a hand in a grand illustration,
still in the corner I hide
Formed of this feel and its lengthened frustration,
longing to come but inside

Thoughts that I bear, like a weight ever growing,
changing my whole point of view
Staring the crowd it is who I am knowing,
given the old and the new

Moving a bit, to evade their detection,
what would the words seem to say
Scared and amiss and in fear of rejection,
cast but the hours away

A shrug of my shoulders, the look on my face,
all as an act and a dream
For I have fallen this road to retrace,
loneliness now starts the theme

When in the distance I hear as I’m falling,
voices I tend to believe
Giving me guidance, so long I’ve been calling,
waiting this time to receive

Take what you want, it can't wait any longer,
nothing to lose but regret
Tell her your feelings and watch it grow stronger,
jump in, get both your feet wet

I heeded their message and ended the crying,
reached for her out of the blue
Showed her a love that was endless, undying,
proving to always be true

Now with her hand on these future endeavors,
placing our pen at the start
Words on the page we are writing together,
verses of love from the heart

Messages may just be words
In phrases that we share
But every time I write it is
To show how much I care

It may seem such a little thing
So many people write
But when I send these words to you
It brings me such delight

I know there are a lot of words
Sent to your world each day
Your followers are every where
With other things to say

But please know I appreciate
The time you spend with me
Sending emails back and forth
That I can’t wait to see

I don’t need anybody else
It’s you that makes me smile
When I receive those messages
In your amazing style

At times I’ll write a poem
Then I’ll post it on this site
In hopes that you will read it
Thinking of me on that night

I guess this is another one
These verses that I pen
They’re written so that you will see
And understand again

That you are all I’ll ever need
My love for you is true
That’s why I just can’t stop myself
From writing these to you

I always
    wondered
  could my
     dreams actually
         come true,
     then I met you
           and got
                my answer...

           *yes they can

Only
You and me
We were special
Made for each other
There was something about us
Neither had felt love like this before
I said something that hurt you badly
Allowing your heart to change
Then you hated me
Now there is no
You and me
Only

You

and

me

*You are the glow as I crawl through the darkness,
lighting my way so these eyes they can see
A soft woolen blanket when winter is reaching,
wrapping the warmth of your arms around me

You are the shelter when storms fill the heavens,
keeping me dry as the raindrops now fall
A calming voice that I hear in the distance,
when every sorrow about me does call

You are the strength as my knees slowly weaken,
lifting me up when I’ve nothing to give
The precious life as I feel I am dying,
giving me hope when I don’t want to live

You are my world, every day I am facing,
showing me love is a beautiful view
All that I wish is whenever you need me,
I will be all of these same things for you

Old light house beacons
aglow in the mist
Shadows on beaches
and moments we kissed
A sandcastle promise
on tides coming true
In every sunset
my thoughts are of you
Dreams of tomorrow
I lean on today
Caught in the waves
in the ocean a' sway
Feeling your love
upon the breezes that flow
In everything
that I want you to know
You are my all,
every breath that I breathe
The light of my life
wishes that I believe
I will be true
to your heart evermore
You are my world,
*you're the one I adore

Pleasing thoughts of endless rhyme
from deep within do grow
I put to pen and paper dreams
these verses set to flow

To pour along your tender heart
trickle through a while
In hopes that they will bring you joy
and form your face a smile

You’ve asked before, where can it be
that I can find these ways
To write these verses every night
my love put on display

The only answer I can find
so deep within my heart
Is I will write my love for you
these moments we're apart

With only but the shortest time
to tell you how I feel
I use the words I send to you
my feelings to reveal

And pray that you do feel the same
to need me by your side
Open arms now wanting me
with love so ever wide

My mind is like a painted field
in colors vibrant true
When of these words I send your way
that whisper I love you

And if the day should come to pass
when thoughts are running dry
I’ll think about this love I've found
to see before my eyes

Your beauty in a gilded frame
where ever I may be
And write these words I love to say
*that you belong with me
"Belong" is being used as a term of endearment, not ownerhip.

You found me lost and alone
You found me questioning what would be
You found me losing all hope

You showed me compassion
You showed me a new path to walk
You showed me love

You gave me a purpose
You gave me you
*You gave me…me

Sweetest temptation
One I adore
Angel from heaven
I love you more

Skin soft as satin
Eyes like a gem
Lips sweet like candy
Kiss me again

A heart that is caring
A soul that will fill
Laughter for sharing
Warmth from the chill

Beautiful mornings
Magical nights
Springtime in winter
Every delight

Shooting stars shimmer
When you’re with me
Waves sing harmonic
Out on the sea

Leaves change their colors
Snow on the ground
Loving each other
No ones around

Now until ever
Far past the end
My love keeps growing
To you I send

Fantasies fashion
From up above
Forever my darling
You I will love
Good morning Beautiful

I have awoke to misty morns,
clouded days of rain filled skies

But always I do see the sun,
*when first I gaze into your eyes
Thank you for reading
Chris Nov 2015

*Yours is the love
that does live in my heart
It is the glue
when my world falls apart

Provides the sun
as the clouds come to call
Lifts me right up
if I stumble and fall

Lightens my load
when it's too much to bear
When I am lonely
it tells me you're there

If I am crying
it dries all my tears
When I am frightened
it chases my fears

Gives me the strength
when I'm fragile and weak
Shows me the way
if the path I do seek

Brings out my smile
every time I am blue
I hope my love
does the same thing for you

A lone mist drifts in feathered shadows
where footprints are soft neath a robin egg sky
Hushed sentiments flow on cool morning breezes
as dreams bask in the light of dawn’s shining,
heaven sent beams caressing our skin

The warmth of a new day embraces us,
sitting quietly on the veranda, two cups shared
with tender glances and sweet kisses as I drink
in your beauty among blooming hibiscus and
hummingbird whispers seeking the nectar of our love

Morning glories yawn in watercolor brush strokes,
painting the landscape in Monet swept patterns
while effervescent dragonflies hover nearby
I take your hand and tell you I love you and
watch as your smile becomes my morning...

*your love becomes my life

A twilight summer afternoon
Along a sleepy shore
The sunset paints the evening sky
In colours we adore

A breeze so cool flows through your hair
The beach soft on our skin
We wait the tide so soon to come
As nighttime does begin

Nestled in your arms so close
Feel your warmth against the chill
Pewter skies are calling and
The air now resting still

The first star to appear this eve
Flickers ever slight
I have my wish my darling
*First star is yours tonight
A collaboration with my amazing girlfriend.
