Sometimes I don’t say it
as eloquently as I should

Words run from me
disappearing over mountain tops

In the last phrases of my day
when moon light seeps in

Through opaque glass
and curtains of lace promises

I clutch tightly my pillow
wishing it were you

Hoping that tonight’s dream
will give me a hint

Like some painted message
on marshmallow clouds

Drawing lingering lines
in star to star whispers

Chasing firefly flickerings
with a mayonnaise jar

Trying to capture your heart
in a twilight whimsy

Within the verses of a poem
written on a breeze

Floating across
midnight skies of woven stanzas

Eloquently or not…
*of my love for you
Good night beautiful

Remember when the movie
was all that would scare you?
Another sad day....

Caught in a web that a spider is spinning
Counting his legs as I notice him grinning
Perhaps a dream that is just now beginning
I must be falling in love

Singing a song while the music is playing
Don’t know the words, I make up what I’m saying
Not really dancing but just sort of swaying
I must be falling in love

Running a race down a path that is bending
Seeking to finish, I know it is pending
Sweating so much it could be never ending
I must be falling in love

Chasing mosquitoes now constantly biting
Waving my arms like a windmill that’s fighting
Or like a group at a UFO sighting
I must be falling in love

Filling my cart with bananas while shopping
Cleaning the peels off the floor as I’m mopping
Sliding through red lights there’s no sense in stopping
I must be falling in love

Hitting a drum in a cadence that’s pounding
Played in a very nice rhythm, astounding
Just like a heartbeat in spring it is sounding
I must be falling in love

Writing a poem with words that I’m feeling
Every desire your beauty revealing
Asking your hand as I’m carefully kneeling
I must be falling in love

Now as I stare in your perfect eyes glowing
Feeling affection they’re constantly showing
Finding each day of my life I am knowing
With you I've fallen in love

On a misty morning
as the sun peeks over
a distant horizon
tinting hazy skies
in faded cantaloupe
and butter cream swirls,
a tree line silhouette
stands guard, ready for
the start of another
beautiful summer day,
as I sit on the patio,
sipping a fresh cup of coffee
waiting for you to wake
*so that I may start mine
Good morning beautiful

Soft sunrise whispers
on apricots glow

Tangerine breezes
outside gently flow

Waking to beauty
my eyes they do see

Finding the one that
I love next to me

Dew drop concertos,
a meadowlarks sings

Pastel desires
on butterfly wings

Gazing at you as
you lie there asleep

These are the moments my
heart loves to keep

Daffodil dreams and
a sunflower wish

Warm blanket hugs with
a good morning kiss

Rose petal fragrances
cool on the wind

This is how every
*day should begin
Good morning beautiful

The skies threatened
but only a single rain drop
fell, landing atop a large mountain

It felt worthless, the darkest skies,
a gloomy forecast,
for it was him…discarded,
tossed away from his home,
spit out by the mother cloud

He trickled down the side
through crevice and cracks,
“What difference does it make,
I’m nothing anyway” he sighed

Around twists and turns,
neath prickly shrubs, dodging thorns,
faster and faster he ran
sure now he was going to die
but who cares….

Unable to control his speed,
fear began to collect
the closer to the ground he got

This was it, the end,
he could see the earth
approaching rapidly,
“goodbye” he thought
“No one will miss me anyway,
I am a failure, good riddance”

But when he reached the bottom,
he splashed into a puddle
that was happy to see him,
for this lone drop of rain
would extend its life,
if only for a few moments more…
Someone will always want and need you....
