Outside of the window
thrives a large ornamental
pomegranate, its delicate
fragrant flowers

bloom in bright orange,
tiny carnation like buttons
on a lush green coat
in full springtime attire

completely blocking
my view of the gorgeous
spring sunrise glowing
just beyond the glass

But I don’t mind because
the most beautiful vision
my eyes could ever see
is lying right next to me…

and I would have it
*no other way

Here seeking shelter from nature’s born fury
Standing alone on the ground as it swells
Rising this river to flood bounded glory
Bringing the gloom of its rain induced spells

Drenched in a moment of desperate hours
Closing my eyes in the face of the pour
Clinging to heights, falling prey to the showers
Digging in deep as I can’t take much more

Fearing my life as the walls start to crumble
Mortar and stone fade away forth the storm
Thundering skies speak in voices a’ rumble
Sinister sounds beneath clouds that now form

When in the distance my eyes find a gleaming
Flowing white gown of embroidered attire
Casting the waters in fingertip dreaming
Beaming of sun on a windswept desire

Rose petal sails full abloom on this river
Taming the waves of a heart nearly broke
Sending my smile on an un-ending quiver
Hearing the echoes of love as they’re spoke

There in her eyes is a safety now waiting
Arms open wide as I reach for her hand
Straight to my stead westward flows navigating
My footing escapes as I no longer stand

Falling in deep I find darkness surrounding
Gasping for breath as the end it does call
Gazing the depths with my pulse loudly pounding
Longing her touch now to capture my fall

Drifting in silence of wishes found needing
So very close was my dream almost true
When in a flash now the waters receding
Breaking the surface, enchanting the view

And as I breathe in the air’s sweetened flavour
Merely her touch sends my mind in a spin
Caught in the whirl of a goddess to savour
Now I do feel my heart beat once again

Lifting, she pulls me from seas overflowing
Holding me close neath the heavens above
Gently a kiss brings her light to me glowing
*Endlessly now I shall drown in her love
Good night Beautiful

Why can’t I see past the buildings,
skylines obstructing my view,
collecting on the curb
with doorways and steps
inviting to someone else I suppose

Still I push past,
hugging the shoulder
of a rush hour highway
Staring into windows
as they pass, staring back

Exits signs point at me
but I can’t listen
Their warnings make no difference
in cloverleaf grumblings
and exhaust fume skywriting

One foot in front of the other,
worn converse high tops
gray, the greens are lost
with the sunset that breathes down my neck
reaching for one more moon rise

No rest, still creeping alongside
sleeping 18 wheelers purring
on their asphalt mattresses,
straddling yellow lines
leading to the bathrooms…not a chance

27 miles the sign reads
in reflective lettering calling out to me
It seems like nothing,
compared to what is behind me now…
My life or what it was

But that is no longer my concern,
my future is now 22 miles away
Where your arms are waiting,
holding my future…open, warm
and I begin running faster

Another 10 to go, down main streets
with coffee shops and beauty parlours,
one traffic light and a train station
a kid on a bike delivering newspapers offers me a ride
No need, it’s just around this corner…

On the lawn is a flamingo,
plastic and pink behind a white picket fence
with a gate that creaks and a porch light comes on…
illuminating my dream…as I see you,
it has finally come true

A playful sun
  peeks over
   a slumbering
  horizon,
     tickling the
   dawn with
      daffodil giggles
  and flirtatious
   touches,
    awaking the
      new day
         with a smile

Just as I do
  when opening
    my eyes
     to see this
     same cheerful
   sunrise glowing
      through
   our window,
      illuminating
        my beautiful
          new day
            *that is you

A springtime Sunday evening
Twilight filters in
The setting sun has made its run
Then disappears again

Crickets sing their melody
Scattered by the breeze
Their song does flow, soft and slow
Through branches in the trees

A scent so pure and fragrant
Sweetly comes your way
Staring high, the moon lit sky
Your mind begins to stray

The grass is so inviting
Soft against your feet
You wear no shoes, this you choose
In this night time retreat

Stars like gemstones twinkle
Patterns up above
True designs so you may find
This one that you do love

Your dreams are freely flowing
When on this evening new
A smiling face, you long to trace
Whispers I love you

You wonder how this happens
For he is not so near
How from above, he sends his love
To calm your every fear

The answer finds your smile
And of this you are sure
The words he writes, you every night
*Proves you he does adore
Good night beautiful

Lonely days,
clouds of wishful thoughts,
cut grass desires linger,
fallen petal emptiness
scattered on damp sidewalks,
bleeding into the cracks
forming of fingers reaching

With pen in hand
I stare off into distant verses,
favored phrases,
seeking words to express
the missing I feel,
vacancies with no room
in a space of nothing,
four walls, open doors
no exits

when she is away
and I wait, wilting
a feather without a wing
for the end of these
lonely days...

dreaming of tomorrow
I miss you

Rain still falls
upon my shoulders,
green leaves slow dance
with crystal droplets
to the enchanting melody of
saturated skies singing,
spider webs wear liquid diamonds,
shimmering chandeliers swaying
like silent wind chimes on the breeze
and puddles act as mirrors
where I see my smile
as I head down a muddy path,
leaving lonely footprints behind,
walking towards the sunny day
*that is you
