You can love a woman
Who ain't even your wife
And you can cut the fool
Without using a knife
But you can't sing the blues
Unless you live the life

You can sail the world
On a scenic cruise
But you can't sing the blues
Unless you had 'em right
No you can't sing the blues
Unless you've been uptight

You can have a headache
And never show the pain'
Or open your umbrella
And never feel the rain
You can't sing about the blues
That you never had
No you can't sing about the blues
Unless you've had it bad

You claim to be Christian
But where’s your Christian charity
You talk, the people listen
But what is it they see
You claim to be Christian
So why aren’t you helping me
Something is clearly missing
From your gospel ministry

You claim to be a Christian
But your behavior is absurd
Proof should be manifested
In more than just your words

You claim to be Christian
But you don’t live up to the creed
You’re against a safety net
For those who are in need
You claim to be Christian
But you’re so slow to forgive
In the final analysis
You’ll be judged on how you lived

You claim to be a Christian
But your behavior is absurd
Proof should be manifested
In more than just your words

You want moral supremacy
But that can never be
Faith lacking in good works
Isn’t faith at all ya see

You claim to be Christian
But you never keep your word
A more accurate description
Might be hypocrite (ya heard)
You claim to be Christian
And while that well may be
Nothing about your actions
Reflects Jesus don’t cha see

You want moral supremacy
But that can never be
Faith lacking in good works
Isn’t faith at all ya see

You claim to be Christian
But where’s your Christian charity
You talk the people listen
But what is it they see
You claim to be Christian
So why aren’t you helping me
Something is clearly missing
From your gospel ministry

You **** right
I’m owed a debt
That you haven’t
Repaid yet
And as you might
By now suspect
That I intend
To collect

You **** right
I’ll take your cash
But cash cannot
Remove the lash
Nor can it
Remove your mask
Or the air of superiority
In which you bask

You **** right
I’ve been aggrieved
In so many ways
You can’t conceive
And I’m owed more
Than an apology
Or deferential treatment
At  a college see

You **** right
I’m still mad
More than my ancestors
Were treated bad
I’ve been scorned
And been 'buked
Had my back broken
And my shoulders stooped

When it was us
You didn’t give a ****
Your only concern
Was how to save a buck
Now it you
That floods came to
And there no limit
To what you want us to do

When we were begging
Hat in hand
We couldn’t make you
Understand
Now you’re asking us to do
What you refused
Although you knew
All that we were going through

But what goes around
Comes back around
You never know
Where it's bound
As you’ve discovered
And we can see
You’re in need of our charity
But where's your reciprocity

You’re not conservative
Through and through
Though you’d like us to believe
That's true
You want us to do for you
What you yourself wouldn’t do
So it’s not a matter of what with you
It’s strictly a matter of who

You Didn't Give A **** was inspired by first time Senator Ted Cruz who turned a cold shoulder to those in need during the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy.  Now he's seeking our largesse now that Texas has been hit bad by floods.  Isn't it ironic?

I  don’t know where to start
Sometimes the going gets rough
If she hasn’t broken your heart
It means you don’t love her enough
And if you can’t be critical when you see
That she’s going astray
I hate to say it, but if you’re asking me?
You didn’t love her anyway

She was the envy of everyone
Once upon a time,
She led the way by her example
As the perfect paradigm
That the whole world looked to
When they wanted a sign
She showed them what to do
And rarely crossed the line

Now all the things she stood for
Seems to have disappeared
We hardly recognize her now
She’s become what we feared
A shadow of her former self
And that makes us scared
I don’t know what her future holds
But we should be prepared

We all should be a mirror
Held up for her to see
Her beauty has all but faded
It’s becoming history
To do nothing but stand idly by
Would be a true travesty
Because those who really loved her
Wouldn’t just let her be

You don’t love this country if
You want it to be exclusive
You don’t love this country if
Your mantra’s non-inclusive
You don’t love this country if
Your verbiage is abusive
You don’t love this country if
Your motives are conclusive

You don’t love this country if
You think it’s only Christian
You don’t love this country if
You are on a crusade mission
You don’t love this country if
You don’t have some contrition
You don’t love this country if
Hatred is your sole ambition

You don’t love this country if
You hate your fellow man
You don’t love this country if
You don’t want it to expand
You don’t love this country if
You let guns get out of hand
You don’t love this country if
You want all others banned

You don’t love this country if
You think it’s for the rich
You don’t love this country if
You take us in a ditch
You don’t love this country if
You undo every stitch
You don’t love this country if
You fall for a sales pitch

You don’t own that woman
She’s not your property
You don’t wanna hear it
But that’s not stopping me
It’s just a bit of wisdom
That I’m dropping, see
You don’t own that woman
She’s not your property

You don’t own her body
It’s merely on loan to you
Although this revelation
Is a hard pill for you to chew
I’m here sharing some things
That I don’t think you knew
You don’t own her body
It’s merely on loan to you

You didn’t chose her
It was she who chose you
Before your seductive words
Started getting through
You made an impression
Whether or not you knew
You didn’t chose her
It was she who chose you

You should show your gratitude
In all you say and do
If you want it to last forever
And have your dreams come true
You’ve gotta work on it
Like something you must see through
You should show your gratitude
In all you say and do

You don’t really believe,
What the President cannot conceive?
That the Russians meddled indeed
In our election but he paid no heed
We know that the President lied
When he said that Putin denied
Interfering or at least having tried
To show how he was on Trump’s side

And up to this very day
He refuses to believe the CIA
Or let the intelligence get in the way
Of the skullduggery, he has at play
He’s been called a Russian asset
And unquestionably he’s in Putin’s debt
Which is something we must never forget
If we do it will be to our regret

What we should realize
That a man who tells 10,000 lies
And doesni’t believe in our spies
Is someone we have  to chastise
And if that means to impeach
We shouldn’t call it overreach
It has to be done just to teach
What can happen to those who breech

Like Ripley’s Believe It Or Not
Trump’s the Wax figure we got
A man who has no forethought
About the havoc he’s wrpught
So let’s bring his reign to an end
See I can’t wait to begin
And if you feel the same way my friend
Join me in helping him descend

Kanye you have a
Right to your voice
But If you think 400 years
Of slavery was a choice
You’ve hurt me brother
And made my eyes moist
The same way you’ve made
Our enemies rejoice

Watch the words that come
Out of your mouth
You’re praising the devil
Coz your mind has gone south
And I’d like to know
What’s that all about
I like your music
But I’m prepared for a drought

Love who you want to
Even Donald Trump
Then watch your records
Wind up in a dump
All that you’re proving
Is you’re just a chump
A tool to be used
On his next campaign stump

Why go on TV
And cut the fool
I guess that it’s not
A hard and fast rule
That everyone can swim
Who jumps in that pool
If your mother were still alive
She’d take you to school

You know he’s full of stuff
When the evidence ain’t enough
And he’s acting like a cream puff
By not calling Putin’s bluff
If I labeled him a scaredy-cat
Or better yet Putin’s new doormat
Would that raise the thermostat,
And flush out that Norway rat?

When the evidence is irrefutable
To the point that it’s not disputable
His response is always mutable
And comes out as most unsuitable
Then his mouthpiece attempts to frame
An alibi, but we’re hip to her game
She can’t absolve him of the blame
Though she tries to just the same

So you better believe and trust
That she looks ridiculous
When she’s being duplicitous
By trying to fool the rest of us
It’s a sin to stand there and lie
But she gives it a college try
Like the mistress of deny
As if the Ten Commandment don’t apply

They interfered with our election
With a clear cut interjection
Of cybernet deflection
Without protest or objection
Two days before his inauguration
He was told of the Russian’s participation
Much to his own consternation
Yet he still voices reservations

You lying ***,
You so and so,
You didn’t know,
That she would go?
As if the general
Didn’t tell you though,
You’re claiming ignorance
And putting on a show

You lying ***,
You so and so
Keep it up
And your nose will grow
Just like the puppet
Pinocchio
You’re trying to reach
A new plateau

You lying ***,
You so and so,
You paint a picture
But you’re no Van Gogh
You’re gonna fall
Like a domino
See you belong
In a minstrel show

You lying ***,
You so and so,
You hired her
Don’t cha think
We know?
That you’re duplicitous
As world leaders know, yo
Like Canada's Justin Trudeau

You made me feel
That I was unwanted
Then you moved on
Like you were undaunted
I wanna know
How come you weren’t haunted
By the thought of me
Running through the gauntlet

You made me feel
As if you didn’t care
About our relationship
Like you weren’t aware
Something was wrong
That was causing despair
And I’m being honest
With what I have to share

You made me feel
Alone and rejected
In the sense that I
Was feeling neglected
In ways, you probably
Never suspected
You made me become
Totally disaffected

You made me feel
That I didn’t deserve
The love that I wanted
That you held in reserve
Like a commodity
You had to conserve
Until that empty feeling
Touched a raw nerve

You might take note
Congressman John Lewis fought
For our right to vote
But nevertheless
That right is
Being suppressed
In hamlets and towns
Of Blacks and Browns

As a matter of fact
He got his skull cracked
Crossing the Edmund Pettus, Jr. Bridge
Just for that privilege
Which we take for granted today
And some want to take away
But if we’re not vigilant
We’ll ask where the right to vote went?

John Lewis didn’t live in a bubble
He believed in promoting good trouble
And everywhere that he went
He professed that sentiment
And spent many sleepless nights
Thinking about our civil rights
In case you’re wondering what all the fuss is
He also integrated lunch counters and busses

So now in his final hour
We bid that he rest in power
And gets the slumber
That he so well deserves
The slumber of one
Who dutifully serves
All of humanity
With selfless humility

The voices in your head suggest
That you’d be better off dead (no less)
But put those voices to rest
Because that might not be what’s best
So before you choose to depart
Think about it and take heart
‘Cuz don’t ya see, here’s the thing
You never know what tomorrow will bring

Please don’t listen to that voice
That’s telling you, (you have no choice)
But to jump off (of that roof)
It seems right, right now (but where’s the proof)
So before you choose to depart
Think about it and take heart
Cuz don’t ya see, here’s the thing
You never know what tomorrow will bring

You just want the pain to stop
But that’s a rather (severe drop)
And what if you should change your mind
On the way down (only to find)
That unfortunately it’s much too late
For you to now equivocate
Cuz don’t ya see, here’s the thing
You never know what tomorrow will bring

The voices in your head suggest
That you’d be better off dead (no less)
But put those voices to rest
Because that might not be what’s best
So before you choose to depart
Think about it and take heart

Your call was recorded
And it can be retrieved
The level of technology
Is not to be believed
Forget about your privacy
Cos it does not exist
The names of every one of us
Is somewhere on a list

Your call was recorded
Someone’s listenin in
Now you can choose to ignore this fact
And hope that it will end

You live in America
And you think that you’re free
While that may once have been the case
That’s ancient history
Those days are long gone
They have disappeared
Now each of us are suspect
Until we become cleared

Your call was recorded
Someone’s listenin in
Now you can choose to ignore this fact
And hope that it will end

Your call was recorded
But it wasn’t tapped
It’s somewhere on a satellite
Where they have it trapped
And it can be retrieved
Anytime they choose
You call this a revelation
But I call it old news

Your call was recorded
Someone’s listenin in
Now you can choose to ignore this fact
And hope that it will end

Your call was recorded
It also has been logged
You can file your complaint
On any liberal blog
The calls have been dissected
And also analyzed
It’s high time you stop sleepin
And open up your eyes

Your call was recorded
Someone’s listenin in
Now you can choose to ignore this fact
And hope that it will end

Your call was recorded
But it wasn’t tapped
It’s somewhere on a satellite
Where they have it trapped
And it can be retrieved
Anytime they choose
You call this a revelation
But I call it old news

Your call was recorded
Someone’s listenin in
Now you can choose to ignore this fact
And hope that it will end

You’re just a messenger?
So is the devil
And now we see
You’ve stooped to his level
Instances of which I speak
Are more than several
Connected as it were
Just like a bevel

You’re just a messenger?
What’s the message
Old time racism
At it’s last vestige
Now you’re asking for
Protesters to be arrested
For causing the ciaos
In which you’ve invested

You’re just a messenger?
Or so you say
Causing more mischief
Almost everyday
And you won’t let morality
Get in your way
Cuz you always must
Have the last say

You’re just a messenger?
One would assume
That you’re committed to
Causing our doom
You’re  a bomb thrower
Waiting for the boom
For the good it will do you
Inside of your tomb

Your changing looks
Only shows
What you and I
And everyone knows
You hate the real you
And it clearly shows
I hope you’re happy
Although I suppose

You’re not happy
And how could you be
You manufactured
Everything we see
Five shades lighter
Than you used to be
With blonde hair too
It’s no mystery

We don’t recognize you
Anymore
You’re not the same person
You were before
And all the changes
Are hard to ignore
Though you can’t change
Your very core

You’re not happy
And how could you be
You manufactured
Everything we see
Five shades lighter
Than you used to be
With blonde hair too
It’s no mystery

Remember beauty’s
Only skin deep
Ugly inside
Is to the bone
Who you are
You can’t escape
By trying to live
In a Twilight Zone

You’re not happy
And how could you be
You manufactured
Everything we see
Five shades lighter
Than you used to be
With blonde hair too
It’s no mystery

Stay the hell
Off of Instagram
You’re passé now
No one gives a ****
The girl we knew
Has turned to spam
And when’s the last time
That you dropped a jam

You’re not happy
And how could you be
You manufactured
Everything we see
Five shades lighter
Than you used to be
With blonde hair too
It’s no mystery

You’re no Thomas Edison
Kanye take your medicine
That will make you reticent
And hopefully you’ll jettison
Sayin’ slavery was a choice
You’re no modern day Dubois
Why’d you give that notion voice?
You’re just making lots of noise

Black folks got their feelings hurt
Because you made ‘em feel like dirt
Too bad you were not inert
Instead of being so **** curt
Stop saying the first thing in your head
Give some thought to it instead
Then review the things you said
Before you have us seeing red

Why do you pontificate?
Better if you chose to wait
Then to come out and state
Things we’re sure to debate
You’re not adept at history
And that’s no great big mystery
So why do you do this, you see
When the results are blistery

If your thoughts are in a rush
What comes out your mouth is mush
You’d do better just to hush
Than to make black people blush
Though I accept your apology
But you offended more than me
Which may be hard for you to see
Yet contrition is the key

You’re who
I lie with at night
People may talk
But that’s all right
They don’t know us
Or have any insight
As to who we are
Not the least bit contrite

Let them call us
Out of our name
You’re who I lie with
And I’m not ashamed
They can point fingers
And call us those names
But we’re gonna love
Each other the same

You’re who
I lie with at night
I lived in darkness
You were the light
Say what you want
To make us uptight
Or try to provoke us
We’re not gonna bite

Let them call us
Out of our name
You’re who I lie with
And I’m not ashamed
They can point fingers
And call us those names
But we’re gonna love
Each other the same

They’re entitled
To have an opinion
But that doesn’t give ‘em
Some kind of dominion

So let them call us
Out of our name
You’re who I lie with
And I’m not ashamed
They can point fingers
And call us those names
But we’re gonna love
Each other the same

You’re who
I lie with at night

Your  job is to defend him I guess
Though you don’t brief the press
You prefer to be a Fox News guest
And regularly attack all the rest
It’s easy enough to read the tea
Cuz the whole wide world can see
He’s a liar and that is key
He chopped down the cherry tree

Now that his impeachment is alive
The question for Number 45
Is whether or not he’ll survive?
And continue to seemingly thrive
What do you hope to prove
That the President can’t be removed
Even though it is behooved
And the waters willl never be smoothed

Given all of this, you say nevertheless
You have to do your very best
To account for him I guess
And you seem to be passing the test
So you present your alternate facts
And provide what the story lacks
Like before you so did countless hacks
Who proudly call themselves flacks

You csn’t stand up to the give and take
Cuz you would be exposed as a fake
Or someone clearly on the make
So you won’t give the press a break
We’ll see you on the campaign stump
Out there shilling for Dona;d Trump
Who’ll play you for a chump
Before you land in the trash dump

Brother just because
You’re willing and able
To accept the crumbs
From your master’s table
Doesn’t mean that
Your position’s stable
Or that you won’t receive
An Uncle Tom’s label

Sistah because you reside
In the master’s house
Don’t confuse yourself
With his spouse
Although he may give you
Her very used blouse
You’re still poorer
Than the average church mouse

Don’t look down at us
Still in the fields
Because we don’t get
The same kind of meals
If you have no idea
Just how it feels
Be careful of what
Your attitude reveals

Some of you don’t mind
That you’re being used
And Some of you, simply put
Are just confused
And some of you are Toms
Just as you’re accused
And some of you are
Damaged goods who got bruised

Send us your tired,
Your weak and your poor
Though they're not welcomed here
Anymore
For the nightmare
They'll find in store
Once ICE catches 'em
On an American shore

It doesn't make
Any sense
For a nation
Of immigrants
To put others
Behind a fence
Housed in haphazardly
Erected tents

What has this nation
Become
That only is welcoming
To some
Under the sound of
A repressive drum
Ain't it enough
To make you numb

Who or what
Do we wanna be
In the annals of history
Will remain
A big mystery
As long as it's
This blistery

From your golden fountain
I’ll take a drink
Am I really that thirsty
What do you think
Cuz I’m over anxious
To see your pink
So give it to me
And let’s make a link

You think I’m nasty
I know that you do
But I’m only nasty
When I’m with you

Don’t know what you heard
Or what you might have read
But I’m the best in town
At giving head
You can check my references
Heard what I said
And my wooden soldier’s
A long way from dead

You think I’m nasty
I know that you do
But I’m only nasty
When I’m with you

So am I a freak
Just because
I’m prepared to eat
Everything that’s yours
A moment of silence
Put that thought on pause
While I get busy
Removing you drawers

I’ll toss your salad
Like a vegan chef
And eat it all up
Until nothing is left
But fair exchange
Is never a theft
So let’s get it on
That’s my request

You think I’m nasty
I know that you do
But I’m only nasty
When I’m with you
I’m only nasty
When I’m with you

We could see it
In his eyes
What we all feared
We realized
Was getting nearer
Every day
Pretty soon
He’d go away

He let his art
Be his voice
What he shared
Was quite by choice
Beyond his veil
Of mystery
He wrote it down
For us to see

Ever changing
As he went
His creative energy
Was well spent
Because he chose
Not to relent
When he shared
A sentiment

Ziggy Stardust
And Major Tom
Were alter egos
Endowed with charm
Cathartic renderings
Made to disarm
An errant critic’s
False alarm
