What's rendered me an impotent of life,
while others live a life with vibrant hum?
A curse that's hedged me by a wall of strife!

While other lives with fine success are rife,
my own's deplete, a curse has sure become
what's rendered me an impotent of life!

Through failure to provide I've lost a wife!
Though I believe, there are those doubts in some,
a curse that's hedged me by a wall of strife

cannot exist, they say, I'm a midwife
to all my troubles, I am who has done
what's rendered me an impotent of life!

Or maybe I've insulted a spaewife,
who cast, to love and money make me dumb,
a curse that's hedged me by a wall of strife.

I've searched from North Recife to Tenerife,
and failed to find a way to make undone
what's rendered me an impotent of life,
a curse that's hedged me by a wall of strife!

when they cover me
White sheet on face
Earth burying box

dance on my grave.

i want every child
at my funeral
to dig their hands
into my soil

take a part of me again
broken so you can live
let me hold you

love me like
The fall
when it comes

i am the roots
you are the leaves

People are like flowers
Blooming when they're ready
Showing off all their beauty
People are like stars
They glow brighter and brighter
Boasting all their power
People are like books
Sharing their story to all who listen
Hiding all their secrets
People are like love
They have their ups and downs
But they always prosper in the end

Waves crash, and safety is on the mind
How could I save you? If safety is so hard to find
I hold on to you, while you hold on to me, just two people drifting unwillingly through time
But all we do is we fall together, and as our souls hit the surface we produce a chime
A certain sound we produce gives us power to pick ourselves up again
Fall again
Reach the surface again
Until one day we both become split in half, and our struggles are no longer true
For if I am not safe, how could I save you?
And we realize that we cannot continue lying to each other, and we realize that at last…
So we look up to the gardens, Ow the gardens are so vast
Each depart with kisses and hugs that will always patch our wounds and wipe our tears
With hopes and ambitions that will **** our fears
With memories and photographic imagination that will bring back the cheers
For one day, in another life, we shall find ourselves back again
Fall again
Reach the surface again
Silently in space, for no sounds shall we produce, because in another life, we won't have to carry ourselves back again, we can just lie down
Enjoy the skies pink and the grounds no longer brown
Enjoy the vicinity of timelessness and the insecurities not found
Enjoy our hearts in eternities for a rush of our eternal bound
Step back and imagine…because this is our future…this is our end
This is the message; tombstones are trying to send…
if you could hold me in
like burning dawn
on the tips of fall mornings
i would scratch our names
into my bark

i would lean over children
that looked like you, baby
sew my leaves to their jackets
so they would always smell
like fresh dew on a misty morning

water my roots and trim
the thorn bushes i've collected
a dress swathing hips
that are barer than deserts

and if i sing this song now
would you come to me in honest
or like schoolyard jokes
will you kiss my fingers only in jest
i'm a simple plant i need only
sunshine and damp dirt

bare bones lapping up nutrients
a stolen kiss over dinner
a bath that is not lonely
a hand to be held
on afternoons in the city
two people staring in rapture at each other
in the black subway windows

( To the tune of Jailhouse Rock )

Party night came to the hp site
Singing and dancing till late at night
Friends dropping by said count us in
Man you shoulda seen them poets swing
     Let's rock
     Everybody let's rock
They all got together in a flock
     Rockin at the hp hop
Well I didn't know you played the saxophone
Frank Zappa Davis on the slide trombone
Along came Embers with a whole brass band
Man that thing was getting out of hand
       Let's rock
       Everybody let's rock
We were rockin and we couldn't stop
        Boppin at the hp hop
Music getting louder as the night wore on
Hands clap feet tap sing that song
Grab hold o' somethin just to play a tune
If you don't play the piano play the wooden spoon
          Let's rock
          Everybody let's rock
We were givin it all we'd got
          Boppin at the hp hop
Someone made a speech, said we're all friends here
We all shed a happy little single tear
Then she said oh for goodness sakes
I love everybody in the whole **** place
            Let's rock
            Everybody let's rock
Keep it up y'all don't stop
            Boppin at the hp hop

In order to write, you must have a soul.
You must heat that soul in emotion.
Until it bubbles, bright white hot.
You must then pour the emotion into an endless string of words.
And watch as they harden into history.
