The sun is rising in the sky,
her tiny voice emits a cry,
her first look at the world around,
her mother's voice the only sound.

The sun is higher in the sky,
her little legs find strength to try,
her first steps in this magic world,
her wonder at this life unfurled.

The sun is further in the sky,
her sleep brings dreams where she can fly,
her mind learns what her heart can do,
her heart learns all that can be true.

The sun moves on across the sky,
her heart is pure but often shy,
her hopes are in each parent's hand,
her future waits for her to stand.

Lying there
never so comfortable

The smoking girls
walking towards the car

Holding my left arm
way above my head

I rolled out of the hedge
looking up at long legs

"There's petrol"
I told their thighs

Limping arm aloft, the beetle
also ended wrong-way up.

A wheel span, I dragged
the driver and his girl out

Through window and petrol
to stagger arm aloft to heaven

Those long legged girls
talked me out of my hedge

Again at there feet
paying homage

Operated on,  I am
in a bed without thorns

At night the young nurse
tells me of her Indian life

Girls, now friends visit
telling me about another

They want ***, their
friends want ***

Nightly, a new life
is put-in-hand.

Recovered, whole
I don't make love

Dreaming of thorns
not of girls thighs

There is only ***
with long legged girls

let's go back, you an me
dance with me, i'll twirl with the dust mop
and you'll laugh and pick dust out of my hair and say i'll never be old

let's go back, you an me
record me stealthily when i sing obscenely-loud songs in the shower
and play them over and over and over as i blush different shades of fire

let's go back, you an me
tickle me while i'm tryin' to play hopscotch
as i beg for mercy between gasps and giggles and threaten to wet my pants

let's go back, you an me
take me for never-ending piggy back rides, pretendin' i'm flyin'
then dump me on the dewy grass, make me laugh because you're laughing

let's go back, you an me
i'll push you in the fountain and you'll grin
and pull me in with you, we'll float on our backs
ignorin' the stares
and watch night fall in little pieces, here and here
except for in your eyes, which blind me

let's go back, you an me
paint sloppy, clumsy kisses on my cheeks
and make stupid looking necklaces out of sparkly plastic beads you know ill never wear

let's go back, you an me
whisper in my ear forever
so that now i can hear you in my head
and smile smiles that don't reach my eyes
and dance with the dust mop pretendin' that it's you
A different style, yet again; comments, suggestions, and criticisms all appreciated. Thanks for reading! (:
