Welcome Summer
4 June 2021

Quiet sounds of the ‘hood’ deft with the summer rain.
You are so welcome again.
Grateful praise for those warm days,
And nights when it’s hard to sleep.
Soon the rains will come soft and plain.
Somehow I missed the sheep.

Uncertain certainty

17 May 2021

Twisting left and right for place to stand,
When certain worlds seem shifting sand.
Truths soft in hardened hands,
Confusion near in distant lands.
Mortals search for friends and foe,
Which is witch no one knows.
Standing tall  falls, strong winds blow.
Opinion fast while facts stay slow.
Times fade as history passed,
Distortions brighten every class.
Keepers in that ivory  tower,
Waivers sweet our fruit to sour.
Careful in this war of strife,
Risky now our paths of life.
Honest used to be our goal,
Uncertain now certain takes its toll.

Grandpa's Complaint

18 May 2021

Being a grandpa, challenge the system,
Everyone expects with your age, you have wisdom.
It’s not simple, you remember that,
When you were younger, you were a brat.
Before you were ancient, and terribly old,
You never did, what you were told.

Always delighted when you heard of a scandal,
Something folks had trouble to handle.
Milkman too long at neighbor's door,
You knew that he was trying to score.
Kids don’t get it, shop at the store.

Much that we used to think was bad,
Now on TV easily had.
Sight of a garter or nylon or two,
Hardly raise any kind of “to do”.
Burlesque was a place for dance and song,
Now those places are all closed and gone.
Today it’s a striptease, too much to see,
Even a shock for an old guy like me.

Grandma’s gone to that heavenly place,
Here no one even says grace.
Seems we are putting gas stations away,
Fuel cards for places where rascals can play.
We used to go to the old drive-in show,
Our friends in the trunk, all in tow.

No one had cash except Mom in her purse ,
Now credit card trouble take first.
Birthdays are getting hard to take,
Too many Candle’s my birthday cake.
When kids come to visit they try hard to smile,
Don’t want to stay for a long while.

Stories of lore kept me true,
When we were young, we knew what to do.
Seems now no one knows a doodle,
Have to look it all up on Google.
Not sure what they’re learning in school,
Just hope it includes the golden rule.

Soon married with kids of their own,
Half living in faraway homes.
Most of us old folks learn how to text,
Passwords making us all total wrecks.
No one at all will cash a bank check.
Look at you crazy, an old geezer fella,
Check to see if your eyeballs are yella.
Course now some of us drink quite a bit,
Otherwise this world would give us a fit.

Fortunate now we have neighbors who too,
Happy to share their stories with you.
It’s getting harder to get around,
Taxis and buses cancelled in town.
Some shouldn’t drive, all squint and frown.
Hard to walk with those sore hips,
So keep driving,  parking lot hits.

One old lady, the other day,
Dented my fender at shopping way.
Wasn’t screaming or yelling took place.
Was handled with gentle grace.

Well time flying bye, my hair in long locks,
Everything closed by virus talk.
I think I’ll get up from my chair, take a walk,
Pick up my mail at the far away box.
Look to see if the pension has come,
Pay my bills, hope some left for fun.
Who knows, might even see someone.

They watched you go.
Time stopped, they wanted free.
Every dream stayed with me.
Every dream😲agony.
Tomorrow’s pain will show,
Moon and fire only know.

Sleep alone,  little ones.
Strife  is here with his guns.
Over there behind those trees.
Men die on broken knees.
Loved once, they hold their brave.
Soon they’ll sleep near tags in graves.

War forever holds their eyes.
Tomorrow time for all to cry.
Today I hear sweet good byes.
They stay here so you can fly,
Ignore the pain.
War comes to us again.

When You Can

25 August 2024 Fit Me In Once in a While

Fit me in once in a while, when you can,
Like a soft kiss in a fleeting span,
A stolen glance, a whispered word,
A secret smile that goes unheard.

In the moments between your busy days,
Where passion hides, and hearts obey,
Find a space, just a fleeting touch,
To fit me in, though it’s not much.

I don’t need long, just a tender embrace,
A shared laugh, a moment of grace,
To know that love still finds a way,
Even if it’s just for a day.

Fit me in once in a while, when you can,
In the quiet nights or the morning’s plan,
I’ll be waiting, patient and near,
For those brief moments when you’re here.

Snake hidden in the tree of my own thoughts,
Its coils around my knees constrict my steps.
Freedom falters,
And the bread of love turns bitter in my hands.
Each word I speak falls lifeless,
Like a wounded sparrow,
Plunging into silence.

Why do I cry?
Is it you who steals my freedom,
Or the shadows in my mind
That blur your face
And whisper doubt where trust once grew?

A storm brews in my spirit,
Paranoia’s tree taking root,
Its branches thick with imagined truths.
Am I the snake?
Is it my hand that tarnishes love,
Leaving only fragments of what once sustained us?

Still, I cry—
For love, for trust, for clarity.
For the sparrow’s flight,
For the bread unbroken,
For freedom to feel whole again

The tides of love over the cold.
The press of life, passion.
Touching. Our dance.
Rhythm infinite, kisses unending.
Smooth, sweet like apple wine.
Knowing the ends of time, space.
Sensing all that, your gift, your grace.
Bending in the winds.
Embracing.
Soft as silk.

Souls Within My Souls
10 June 2021.

To the furthest horizon they bring light and life,
Strength I need as I weaken by time and age.
Each holds the flame and memory that I loved and cherished.
None flicker in the gales and storms of torments eternal.
They will pass with me, tender quiet and peace of acceptance.

Each priceless treasure in the home I held.
Foundations on which I grew and sustain before my passing.
I will drip their wax on the tables of heaven.
For soon they will fade and turn cold.
Only their memory will you hold.

Cry not for their loss as others grow to show the way.
They knew of this day.
Perhaps I can be one of yours caressing you.
I wish it so. I wish it so.

Your mouth became your ears,
Your life filled up with fears.
Love well ran bone dry.
No longer summer skies.
All you see is pain.
Days filled with coldest rain.
Struggle every day.
How did you lose the way?
Never been a better day!
News from profit racks,
Off the cheapest track..
Passion of potato sacks.
Never got you back.
How did you lose the way?
Always a bitter day.

When you hear a cry for help.
When you hold a loving heart.
When you question your firm belief.
When you help one ride the street.
When you take the pain of others.
When you accept a lie to cover.
When you are hungry and still share.
When your partner makes you dare.
When a child holds tight your hand.
When you eat sand right grand.
When you trust an enemy right.
When you forgive the one who fights.
When you see poet stars of blue.
When poetry stars see you.
When you love without condition.
When you live love song’s rendition.
When you share your home and table.

The Returning
13 May 2025

There is a hush beneath the stars,
A pull not forward—but back.
Not to undo, not to forget—
But to arrive where we began.

We scatter like seeds on wind-blown hills,
Chasing wonder, chasing will.
But always, always something calls—
A whisper older than the fall.

It isn’t youth we seek again,
Nor glory, nor the roar of men—
But balance in the turning tides,
The place the river meets the sky.

The trees remember. The rocks still hum.
The quiet knows where we are from.
And love—unchanging, yet undone—
Draws every soul back to the One.

So let me walk this last long mile
Not with regret, but with a smile.
For what I am has always been
Held in the arms of the returning.

In the quiet meadow lay a tiny child.
Murmuring softly, left here in the wild.
She has no name, no one to call her own.
Here in the meadow, she has her only home.
Shadowed by the brush and grass,
Life will never last..

Somewhere in the valley, stands a mother free,
Her child has passed, buried by that tree.
Emptied by pain and loss, we all can bemoan.
Such a hunger, when you are alone.

Soul’s Echo
by Siros

There is a place the body cannot follow—
a hush between heartbeats
where memory lingers after the voice is gone.
That is where you live now.

Not in the photos I can barely touch.
Not in the places we once stood,
but in the silence that knows your shape.

I called your name once,
long after the world said I should stop.
It didn’t answer back—
not with sound.
But the trees leaned in,
and the wind moved like you did
when you entered a room without trying.

Sorrow doesn’t scream.
It whispers.
And in that whisper, I heard
your laugh,
your sigh,
the moment you forgave me without saying so.
Grief made me echo,
but love gave the echo a rhythm.
Now, when I fall quiet,
it’s not to forget,
but to feel the trace
of who you were
still alive in the spaceleft behind.

A soul does not vanish.
It reverberates.

And I listen

Open Love, Open Lover
Aug 29 2025

Love, unlatched, flows wild and free,
A tide swell
eternally.
No walls, no bounds, no narrow gate,
It greets each soul, disarms all hate.

A lover stands, both near and far,
A mirror, a flame, a guiding star.
Not just one face, but countless found,
In whispers soft, in earth profound.

Love is the echo, love is the call,
The rise, the stumble, the grace in fall.
It grows and moments shared and still,
A force beyond fleeting will.

Oh, lover, come hands unclosed,
Let fear dissolve, let hearts expose,
For open love, no chains tether

A union fierce, yet light feather
Through time, through joy, , through joy untold,
In open love, we were young, we are old.
Not mine, not yours, but ever ours,
A sky unending, full of stars.
