Youth
Arik Fletcher Feb 2010
I see a child- so safe and sound,
with friends and family gathered round,
no worries for the life ahead,
no monsters underneath the bed.

I see a house where youth was spent,
a garden where the dog was sent,
a street where children laughed all day,
a school yard where they used to play.

I see a birthday- cake and all,
an accidental trip and fall,
a mother hugs the hurt away,
her kiss means more than words can say.

I see a car that travelled well,
the distance one could never tell,
a happiness in every face,
no need to rush nor up the pace.

I see a dance, a first love's kiss,
a time of hope and total bliss,
a child growing to a man,
a future set out to a plan.

I see a man, his glowing bride,
their families so full of pride,
so many friends are gathered 'round,
nothing but love and laughther found.

I see another place called home,
another child not yet grown,
another street where children play,
another life begins today.

my journey shown within these scenes,
my youth now lost but in these dreams,
the pictures end, the pages fold,
I close the book, this chapter told.

Chance
Arik Fletcher Feb 2010
If tomorrow were the end of this,
the end of pain, of happiness,
could you say that you lived it well?
and what great stories would you tell?

If all the world was set to fall,
no peace, no war, no law at all,
could you say that you'd made a mark?
and tell of how you used your spark?

If all of this were at an end,
no family, no foe or friend,
could you say that you'd lived it right?
Or will you make a change tonight?

All that you've said will be said tomorrow,
all that you have done will be done once more,
though your heart was once all mine to follow,
you needed more than my love could endure.

Nothing you can say to change tomorrow,
nothing you can do as the damage is done,
though you may find a new love to borrow,
nothing can stop that which first you begun.

All that is left can't save our tomorrow,
nothing to do but to start it again,
though you will cry it can't end the sorrow,
dragging my heart and soul far from your den.

All that you've said will be said tomorrow,
all that you have done will be done once more,
though your heart was once all mine to follow,
you needed more than my love could endure.

Nothing you can say to change tomorrow,

Glimpse the light of ancient lore,
read the signs to find the door,

free your mind from the profane,
seek the truth in the arcane,

know the light from the abyss,
keep your brother from re-miss,

walk the path that others seek,
see and hear but never speak.

The Path to Light
Arik Fletcher Feb 2010
The force that binds us, sets us free,
to see the light of destiny,
to build the temple walls again,
within the hearts and minds of men.

The truth is here for all to see,
the god that lives in you and me,
a heaven closer than we think,
the knowledge lost to make that link.

The force that made us, breaks us too,
until we find that path so true,
the world repeats this age old tale,
until we find the holy grail.

The secrets of our ancient kin,
are locked away within our skin,
to find them we must all believe,
atonement shall we thus receive.

Returnity
Arik Fletcher Feb 2010
How can i turn back the clock?
Reverse the endless tick and tock,
go back to that most precious start,
before this dark world broke my heart.

How can I take back the time?
The roll of days in quick decline,
go back to where i once was safe,
before this life destroyed my faith.

How can i regain the years?
Forget the pain and all the tears,
go back to where the lines were crossed
before my soul was truly lost.

a call to bring your armies forth,
the old, the young- so soon from birth,
they come from east, south, west and north,
from all across the distant earth,

a cry, a scream, such aweful sound,
the pain and death rage all around,
so many spread across the ground,
the battle lost- no glory found,

a hush so soft you almost cry,
it gives you wings so you can fly,
high up above all those who pry,
your head from neck in just one try,

the silence sings your soul to sleep,
and takes you from that ancient keep,
your mind from in this dream so deep,
into your waking life will creep.

Arik Fletcher Feb 2010
have faith in what you know can be,
hope not for what you cannot see,
hear all the words the choir sings,
hold close your heart when love begins,

hate not the thief or begging man,
he knows nothing of nature's plan,
heed all the cries of noble men,
here waits the chance to live again,

hark to the days of sacred life,
hide not your fear of satan's knife,
heal all your wounds within the fire,
hail not the gods nor man's desire.

Nekali Reborn
Arik Fletcher Feb 2010
When she was young her dreams were bright,
but time has slowly dimmed their light,

her final thought was cold and dark,
she saw no light, she felt no spark,

yet drifting into death's long rest,
she felt a warmth within her chest,

she dreamt of light, of happiness,
a glimpse of hope, an angel's kiss,

a dream she'd long thought lost to her,
a dream forgotten in life's blur,

she lies awake now, dazed but calm,
no sense of hate, no thoughts of harm,

a second shot, a fresh new start,
another chance to share her heart,

she leaves the ward, a world to see,
at last to meet her destiny.

Like sunshine burning in your eyes,
whilst staring up into the skies,

Like raindrops beating at your skin,
whilst waiting for the band to sing,

Like soil filtered through your hand,
whilst working on a plot of land,

Like autumn wind run through your hair,
whilst walking through the fog with care,

Love is like these little things,
it takes your breath when it begins,

You never know when it will come,
so often missed and seldom won.

This burning pain within my chest,
the demon screams and will not rest,
he craves that which i cannot give,
the root of life so he can live,

This draining force within my veins,
the creature feeds and yet refrains,
he punishes to make me bend,
to give him life, this evil friend,

This stabbing pain within my head,
the monster turns my vision red,
he hungers for that taste so sweet,
in trade for life beyond defeat,

This yearning deep within my skin,
the ****** begs my soul to sin,
release him from this cage inside,
to quench his thirst and join his side.

When she was young her heart was whole,
its strength and depth at her control,
to share it with those all around,
or save it for one to be found.

Then as a child her heart was split,
the pieces pulled with no remit,
mishapen, warped, beyond repair,
surrounded with self-centered 'care'.

This girl grew up a shy recluse,
her soul a slave to dark abuse,
ignored by most, a friend to few,
in need of love, but one so true,

no trust or friendship in her life,
save for the cold kiss of her knife,
she drifts through life devoid of light,
a wraith, a shadow in the night,

her memories hint of happy times,
though life reminds her of its crimes,
no love without a price to pay,
no knight to take her far away,

when she was young her heart was pure,
her mind was set, her stance was sure,
no thoughts of hate lived in her mind,
no fear of love left far behind,

this child now grown, alone and scared,
a life from which she'll not be spared,
her dreams of love forgotten now,
as darkness takes its final bow.

Torrid lies in horrid dreams,
ruthless acts bring dreadful screams,
hopeless lives in empty bliss,
deathly wish through serpent's kiss,

questions lost to answers found,
secrets sold the world around,
dark and cold encompass light,
grounded souls in search of flight,

strong defended by the weak,
gods abandoned by the meek,
all to have but none to give,
long of life but not to live.

The Hunt
Arik Fletcher Feb 2010
See shadows drift through open doors,
feel heavy boots on wooden floors,

Let panic take on full control,
as fear consumes both heart and soul,

Hear metal scrape on plastered walls,
as foot steps echo through the halls,

Deep in the dark the nightmares wait,
with thoughts of death, that sense of fate,

The act is quick and without pain,
the spine soon severed from the brain,

Now take the knife, assume the form,
the killer lives, their soul reborn.

Let me show you what i see,
each time I put a verse to rhyme,
all that i feel, and think and do,
is written here, safe for all time.

Let me take you to the edge,
right to the end of every line,
a place where pain and pleasure meet,
a place where thoughts and dreams combine.

Let me build a world for you,
from all that I have felt and done,
my secret wants, my deadly sins,
the web of truth and lies unspun.

Let me tell you who i am,
the boy i was, the man i'll be,
the truth is here, no lie or sham,
within these words you will find me.

A chorus less a single voice,
an angel taken from our lives,
her song cut short without a choice,
these thoughts of her all that survives,

An empty space where once was light,
a hole that cannot be refilled,

a life that we must now rebuild,

a treasure lost but for her worth,
a soul reclaimed before her time,
to rest in peace within the earth,

a simple life for you and me,
where every son of man is free.

I see the way to make it right,
the way to turn from dark to light,
a simple plan to end this blight,
to bring a close to every fight.

I see our place in time and space,
the times we all must surely face,
a simple way to end the chase,
to make us one; a human race.

I see all this, and so do you,

the simple things we all can do,
to save us from 'the mighty few'.

hearts combined before their birth,

the lines are drawn against their qualms.

disaster brings the gift of strife,
as chaos reigns upon their life,
yet even in those darkest hours,
neither shrinks away or cowers.

a universe of hate and pain,

As the tuna swim by,

hear the sound of the mer-maiden's wail,

When the turtle looks out,
from its shell at the spout,
of the ship with the white shredded sail,

In the eye of the shark,
there's a smile in the dark,
at the glint of the mer-maiden's tail,

As the lobster ***** scuttle,
'cross a broken glass bottle,
the weakened girl surely must fail,

The hunter now gone,
like the mer-maiden's song,
and the turtle returns to the sail.

lost in pointless task and deed,
wounded planet left to bleed,

die is cast by dark desire,
destined for eternal fire,
hellish flame engulfs us all,
man and beast together fall,

sunset with atomic dawn,
empty lands of hope forlorn,
blackened soil of absent trees,
silent world no birds or bees,

wonders lost before their time,
man the cause of epic crime,
savage man of modern days,

Visions
Arik Fletcher Feb 2010
Shadows of forgotten times,
silent thoughts in sacred minds,

Happy moments brief in time,
hours lost in dreams sublime,

Shadows taint the hallowed ground,
loved ones lost and never found,

Hopeless dreams in darkness dwell,
soon to leave this mortal shell.

This Shade of Me
Arik Fletcher Feb 2010
This tired mind with broken heart;
this shattered man of tortured art;

This shadow place of evil dreams;
this house of hope with broken beams;

This ray of light with setting sun;
this crippled soul that cannot run.

Descent
Arik Fletcher Feb 2010
Desolation, cold despair;
emptiness, my soul is bare;

Solitude; the silence reigns;
isolated; heart in chains;

Rescue me, my love for trade;
escape me; my love betrayed.
