Persephone
She looked so sweet but she had black eyes
That charming little smile was surprisingly sly
An innocent act she continued to play
There was never a rumor, for there was nothing to say
She constantly, craftily, stole the upper hand
Guilefully cunning, appearing offhand
Triumphant she was when her deception succeeded
Prancing away from the hate that she seeded
Her friends were like puppets, their fate she controlled
A friend to no end, when she spoke she cajoled
She listened wide-eyed, and blinked in surprise
She was begged to help, and begged to chastise
So she fixed the stories in her own way
Discarding the remnants, displayed to decay
Contented and sprightly she talked very lightly
So sweetly and sightly she left ever brightly.

And now you know of the girl with black eyes
With that charming smile that's ever so sly
So don't be fooled by her false disposition
Otherwise, you will find
                                      yourself
                                                in a most
                                                            unfortunate
                                                                           position.
I have not written anything in a very long time but I'm glad I finally got around to it again. This poem is not really based off of anyone, but I did just read a short story about a girl with black eyes who played with deception a lot. It was sort of fun to write, and thank you for reading!

Too late for words, for lust, and for you.
No room for me.
Only room for this deepening blue
and I must wonder..
do you feel this too?

I sit here in this blinding dark
thinking that we might all feel this way.

That this just might be a very long,
very sad,
very glad,
bad day.

Never room for me
Never room for you.
Only this feeling of blue.

Soft and warm
Sealed with care
Sweet and kind
Will ever share
Brave and strong
Yet so fair
That is her
She's always there

Sensitive
to despair
Harkens to
others welfare
Delicate
she's elsewhere
Beautiful
beyond compare

If you meet her
Best Beware
She'll steal your heart
unaware
Her name is **
This I swear
There's none like her
anywhere

It's getting harder,
To not play the victim,
I feel my patience,
Is weakening to a dim.

Abandoned and lost,
And scared and angry,
Wallowing and pitiful,
And crazed with apathy.

Orphaned with no one around,
Forced to do it all with a frown.

You my dear,
You are the biggest fool.
Wake up you idiot,
Don't let him make you crawl!
He was my everything,
My everything and all.
He left and I had nothing,
Nothing at all.

He always had those eyes,
Those storm colored eyes I loved.
His brown hair was untamed,
Always a mess.

We used to spend all the hours together,
Never getting tired of each other.
Now we can’t,
Never again will we.

I said I would risk my life for him.
He promised me the same.
Little did I know,
That promise came true.

I used to wrap my arms around him,
My everything in my arms.
Now I wrap my arms around nothing,
Nothing at all.
Light the candle fast,
We will not live in obscurity.
Over the flame, we will think of times passed
Contemplating shadows thrown on purity.

We will not live in obscurity,
Burdened by clouds of hate
Living our lives void of security
Never knowing that it was too late –

Burdened by clouds of hate,
They step on through darkened streets
Assuming that it was only fate
That sorrow they would never defeat

They step on through darkened streets
While we admire the flickering light –
Comforted by its small heat,
We know that love is worth the fight.

While we admire the flickering light,
We see the shadows – accept their vacancy
And the others, they will miss the sight
As we dance, creating a new legacy –

We see the shadows – accept their vacancy
But we will live in the candle’s fire
Refusing to endure life separately,
And giving in to its desire

Light the candle fast –
We will not live in obscurity

Speechless.
Nothing more to say.
Let these waves take me away.
You smile as I kiss your lips,
I smile as you hold my hips.
A kiss,
A touch,
Nothing more.
Your lips on mine,
They make me soar.
Lets be adventurers,
I'm Finn,
You're Jake.
My love for you will never break.
As the sky's slowly darken,
And the light fades away,
There is one more thing I've got to say.
Goodbye, farewell,
They sound so wrong.
They just don't fit this song.
So goodnight, my love.
I will see you again,
In the morning,
when the waves come in.

nic
on the corner of conroy
and kirkman
a man who didn't look
a day past dirt
poured me a grin
as i poured out
my change for him.

an army green sack
draped over his back
drank the coins
while the old man's
gums roared
the kind of wisdom
that only comes
with age
and maybe an once
of crack *******.

he leaned into the
driver's side window
and said dear
DON'T BURN THE CHICKEN!

*shrugs
These are the life lessons you learn in Orlando. I am hoping he wasn't serious tho.

I want to fall in love
Sitting in a booth
Over a steaming cup of coffee
Thinking back on my youth
I want to look up
And see a pair of eyes
Eyes so beautiful
Angels start to cry
You'd smile back noticing
How alone I'd be sitting
And make your way over
You'd start by telling me your life
And some lucky 4-leaf clover
You'd say you'd found that day
"Oh" would be all I could say
For I'd be bewitched by you
(You'd be bewitched by me too)
Your voice would be smooth
Your touch would be strong
Eyes never having seen any wrong
It'd be like I was entranced
By a never ending song
And into your love I'd be strung along
(m.p.)
