I loved her.
When she laughed, heartily,
Snuggled me up close and told me of the world,
One she never ceased to see,
Crinkles holding years of warmth,
Of the kind few can ever parade around,
Trophy of her kindred soul.
Yet no woman deserves to have her dreams robbed so young,
So naturally,
So...
Undefiantly.
For in the face of it we’ve made the steps,
But not far enough.
Strength in everything she was,
And the ones that saw her never forgot.
Never once,
Looked back and thought.
She was more.
And she could’ve been.
And yet.
The world could never rob her of the light in her eyes.
Defiant in the face of
The worst of heartless cold.
I loved her,
And love her still.
