Ghazal
In a land where the sun will shine
Softly on our bare skins,
The cool, calm water will flow over
Our feet dipped in-
Sparkling, soothing, tickling,
While we’ll both lazily lie,
Arms spread out, time stretched out,
Truths and worries left behind,
Where the only possible distraction
From each other’s sight could be
That of a butterfly fluttering by,
We'll track, over lilacs and yellows, its flight,
Then suddenly we’ll catch each other’s eyes,
And once again forget the presence of all life,
Just soaking in the profoundness,
Of being side by side.
And my fingers, freed from
All shackles of wrong and right,
Will slowly move over soft, wet grass,
Eliminating whatever distance before us lies,
I’ll touch for a moment, your fingertips,
And I’ll test you, wait for your reaction,
I’ll see it on your smiling lips,
And at last with your heavenly fingers,
Mine will entwine,
To finally fill that love-shaped void in our hearts,
For the union of our souls to never grow apart.

Wait for me in that land, my dear,
Wait for me; I’ll meet you there.

Always Ally
The words flow through me
Like a river stream
Passing over pebbles
Leading me to my next dream

Past a meadow
With tall flowing grass
Wind in trees
At peace, at last

The sun warming the top of my skin
Filling me with sunshine
All from within

The words remind me
All of life
Can be full of happiness
Or great strife

So I'll remember at the darkest of times
To be glad of what I have
All that's mine

While I could be complaining about life
Someone is struggling for theirs
I want to let them know
Somebody in this world cares

The words can help
The words can hurt
Help you feel safe
Or keep you alert

Words are just words
But can mean so much.
Pitter patter of tiny feet
Running up and down the street
Sounds of laughter, sounds of screams
Will come haunt me in my dreams
The children meet in stocking feet
Their night clothes blow across concrete
They join hands and sing a song
In all our hearts we sing along
They drop hands and turn around
And scatter back throughout the town
In their homes they go to sleep
And pray The Lord their soul to keep

Angels swirl across the skies
Echoing their sweet goodbyes

Glass Girl

Q
The girl who was glass
with her heart torn in two
was afraid she would shatter
if she just dared to choose.

She cried till she slept--
it was all that she did,
until the day came along--
until she ran and she hid.

Her choice never made,
her mind still in thought.
As the townspeople worried,
she was found and then caught.

'Your fight has been fought,
your battle is done,'
the townspeople called
as the banged on their drums.

She wept and she moaned
as they yelled in her ears.
They told her to choose
but it would bring out her fears.

She said one single name
just one single word.
The townspeople gasped
and then came the birds.

They pecked at her eyes
and cracked her glass skin.
Then she knew that her fears
would finally win.

The girl who was glass
with her heart torn in two
was afraid she would shatter
if she just dared to choose.
