Loves Tattoo
Allen Robinson Jan 2017
You've marked my heart
tattooed with your name

I am eternally yours always
deeply connected as one

Shared thoughts & feelings
together we explore life

Meant to be despite claims
and obstacles to break us

Uplifted through years of
all inspired love we survive

Uncommon is what we have
never doubting our faith.

RELEASE THE HOUNDS
Allen Robinson Nov 2016
A Friday night and young
  men and women are on
     the prowl
Discovering temporary love
or whatever it means to all
     who crave and lust
RELEASE THE HOUNDS
  they cry out, a mantra
     of the times
A clash of body and mindless
  stoke the passions of flesh
     revealing self
A blend of lies and truths
  are sprinkled about to
     deflect what's real
Pride is taken and guilt is
  shamed as an awakening
     forms to clear conscience.

CLOUDS
Allen Robinson Jul 2016
I see in your greatness
looking on up high

I notice your shapes
your pillow appearance

Faces in the crowd and
a beauty that is boundless

I've flown through you
and walked amongst you

Set against an azure blue
background, you pop

You fluffy and pillow-like
fragile water vapor mass

Silver lined and transparent
I see you for who you are.

UNKOWN POVERTY
Allen Robinson Jul 2016
My mind swims
with distress
and empathy
given my many
blessing bestowed
Am I deserved
Am I genuine
Encountering life
as it passes by
do I see homelessness
do I see poverty
I spy the man
clutching the
tattered cardboard
sign willing to
work for food
How has he fallen
and can I lift him
To be without
shelter
food
water
clothing
companionship
in an
UNKNOWN
POVERTY
for most
Compromised
and
possibly broken
minus
creature comforts
we take for granted
To be exposed
to swelling heat
driving rain
and extreme cold
is cruel at best
Albeit home grown
or third world
in nature, the means
is available to
annihilate this
convoluted
condition of
mankind.

AFTERNOON RECESS
Allen Robinson Jul 2016
Back in the day
   we all looked forward
      to AFTERNOON RECESS
at time to play
    with friends outside
        in the old school yard
games of tag, duck duck goose,
red light green light and my
        favorite  of all... dodge ball
grass stained knees & brush burns
     covered our little bodies and
we never cared as a spray
of bactine or merthiolate cured all
     soaring on swing sets
         playing marbles and trading
cards was always on the list
     throwing a football, baseball
        or frisbee was common
We were allowed to play
     unencumbered and just
          be plain old kids.

Perched prone on a beach bed
with my feet dangling in the
pristine white sandy beach

Sea Gulls sing to me as they
search for their morning meal
as a cool breeze moves about

As I face towards the east and
catch the SUNRISE & SAND
as heaven and earth personified

Colors so brilliant and too bright
to view without my favorite shades
heat penetrates my pores and I glow
