if fears could speak
mine would be screaming,
desperately clinging to life
demanding vengeance
demanding attention

perhaps if happiness was attainable
life would be different
i would not fear entering this distraught-stricken
war-zone
i would not fear the enemies
i would not fear the arduous, inevitable
fights over petty
little
things

if tomorrows didn’t come,
i wouldn’t know what to do
stuck in this constant purgatory;
no escape.

they say family is genuine,
family is adoration,
family is hope.
i have never heard so many lies;
family is isolation,
family is loathing,
family is segregation.
