Neither black or white
But a color in pencils
The feelings that people feel
When seen on shirts

But clouds have this color
On dark no energy nights
The clouds make a dark stormy feature
When they crawl to the sky

As the earth is asleep
And mix with the darkness
That falls from space
Where you can see neither black nor white
But grey

Not black or white
but something in between

Not happy or sad
a neutral human being

Not light or dark
a neutral day and time

Not rich or poor
but I have my money fine

Not one side or the other
I'm just the middle man

Not a diamond in the rough
just another grain of sand

Books are like people,
Bent,
Broken,
and folded in places,

They're judged by their covers,
What they look like,
How they act,
Their name,

So the older, uglier ones get thrown away,
Just because they are not perfect anymore?
And the shiny, newer ones replace them,
Just because they look better and never have been torn?

But there's a special place beneath all this misery,
Somewhere hidden deep beneath the covers,
Where a true story develops,

They may look boring from the outside,
But when you really get to know them,
Read their pages,
Learn their story,

You'll find the truth,
And the truth is beautiful.

Him
I love everything about him
His brown hair that match
his eyes
In his arms
I'm safe and protected
His little half smile
before the shows his white teeth
His is the the love of my life
He means the world to me.

I always found a way to lose something
I lost my papers
I lost my book
I lost a friends number
I lost my daily stuff to play around on.

At first they think your losing habit would change
But after a while they start to think you lie or not care
I lost my grades
I lost my job
I lost my respect
I lost my friends

But at times when your stress out or think it's the end
There's some stuff you can never really lose

What I want is
Enough money

To have what I want
What I want is

What I wish is
Enough stars

To have what I wish
What I wish is

What I need is
Enough time

To have what I need
What I need is

All I want is something I wish
Enough time

To have what I want
What I need is

To believe in myself

Alone,

But not really alone.

Insanity,

breathes down her neck.

Insanity,

“I will win! I always do!”

Crying,

“No you won’t you can’t win!”

Chuckles,

“I always win. I’m winning right now you see.”

Denial,

Insanity can’t win!

Brave,

“Everyone has to win and it is your turn!”

Insanity,

“I’ve already won. Look around and tell me where you are.”

Looking,

She didn’t know where she was.

She had lost after all.

I think of you
As I travel far
Wondering where you are
What youre doing
And hows your day

I think of you
When I'm by myself
Lonely
Cold
And afraid

I think of you
As I wonder
When I'll get
To see
You again

I think of you.

All of life

Silently watching over the sleeping village
he works
inspired by the dreaming villagers
he is motivated
to tinker
to invent
all he wants is the joy
and wonderment from them
he got what he wanted
he lives of it

But that's not enough
hunger building inside
he needs real food
meat

When the hunger is unbearable
he lurks through the shadows
he takes the villagers
one by one
eating them
then moving on
to repeat the process
for an eternity

Through her eyes
Watches as her soul dies
Looking towards an endless abyss
Searching for a needed bliss
Graves to her left and right
Showing no signs of fright
Reaching outwards
Known only as cowards
Begging and pleading
Shouting that her path was misleading
She continues forward, this girl
Her hair shade of a pearl
Behind her, past so bent
This is Jane's Lament.

Jealousy
Ripples through me
Why can’t you see
That you and I are meant to be
And we could live so happily
If you could just fight through all my misery
I will make sure to treat you gingerly
Because you are for now and forever my baby.

Growing up is like driving down a curvy dirt road.
Sometimes you get a flat tire and have to stop.
We always take a step back and remember its not the end of the world.

Life is like homework. We try to erase the mistakes but it’s always faintly there.
Sometimes you lose important papers, it fills us with regret.
We all need to start over sometimes.

Finding love is like looking for a pin in a pitch black room.
Sometimes we think we have it, only to realize it’s not there.
We will always keep looking, even when we feel like giving up.

Dreaming is like getting a present.
Sometimes it can be perfect, others can be disappointing.
We all have that hope that maybe someday it will come true.

The playful wisps of dreams
Soon churn into something sinister
The once pleasant palace
Is now a looming spire
The bright blooming flowers
Are now grey and listless

I must live in this nightmare
Driven by fear
Unable to wake up

Reaching for safety,
Wanting help,
Waiting,
Wanting,
Needing,
Safety from,
The fears of an unknown world.

Waiting,
Wanting,
Needing,
Someone to face
This unknown world.
Prepared to be the hero
Or to fail.

Waiting,
Wanting,
Needing,
The next hero
To walk into this new world
And overtake it
With courage and grace.

Waiting,
Wanting,
Needing,
Someone to
Leave their own safety,
Take risks,
And live.

The words fell off of my lips,
Like a **** had been broken in my mind,
Every single thought,
Being transferred onto paper.

Struggling to keep up,
With all the words I never said,
The crumpled up ***** of paper,
Lying motionless next to my bed.

All empty thought,
And things that didn’t come out right,
Never going to sleep,
Staying up in lamp light.

It felt like I was drowning,
Begging for sleep to finally pull me under,
To put my thoughts to rest,
And make me stop having all the “what-if’s” scraping around in my skull.

So many things were left unsaid,
Since the day we met.

But now I’m writing everything down,
In one massive wave,
And I can only hope and pray,
That you feel the same.

To lose someone close to you is hard enough
But losing the love of your life
That's tragic

She never knew what happened
Never said good-bye
Never imagined this
It was like a book with no conclusion

Hearing the words
Not knowing how to react
Time frozen
for a split second
Then the tears fall

The emptiness now in her soul
No room for happiness
Now feeling all alone

The feeling of shock
through out her body
Her daughter too
Sitting there at the police station
Knowing that her husband is now gone.

He is what I like to call "interesting"
His head is too big for his body
His breath smells like peanut butter and
He is always tired
But he is all mine

Many would call him "cute" or "adorable" but
They don't know him like I do
He is Tonto- 95 pounds of pure love
He will always stick by your side but
There are times when he will hide

He can make me mad when he chews my shoes but
He can cheer me when I'm sad
Even when I'm down he can turn my frown upside down
He is a true joy to be around and
That's what best friends are

I can always tell when he's in the wrong because
His head sinks like a fish in the pond
Then his eyes slowly rise as if he is surprised
The big browns just give me a look
That say "I'm sorry and I know I've been naughty"

No matter what I always forgive
I owe it to him and he owes it to me
He knows were a true match meant to be
So our friendship will forever last
My baby Tonto and me

A moment you were once sure would stay with you forever
be it your first day of school or a spur of the moment beach trip
the once crisp, vivid memory
fades away
piece by piece being chipped of of the master plan
losing information once vital
until one day you wake and its completely gone
replaced by newer more relevant memories
that too will one day be forgotten forever.

I realize that I treated you wrong,
You thought about all your possibilities,
And apparently I pushed you out.
If I had one more chance,
I would’ve done it right.

Rain drips down this window,
Like tears down my cheeks,
But I know even if I let you go,
The scars will continue to show.

Your love left me broken and defeated,
Unable to stand,
I still love you,
Even though you changed along the way.
Why is it I love you,
When all you do,
Is hate everything you’ve become.

My world continues to crumble,
At the sound of your voice,
Just know when I say,
It’s not my choice.

We walk as strangers,
In our now separate lives,
I’ll keep fighting,
But I’ll never win.

I’m so far away from you,
But I’ll live for right now,
With no difference between right,
And wrong.
Just know,
If I had one more chance...

...I would've done it right

What is music,
Is it just something we hear and feel better too because we can relate,
Or is it the memories it brings to us that we like,

Maybe its the fact that when we are listening to that one song,
It makes the world seem so small,
But around us we are still there,

Living in the light of day,
breathing heavily and smiling because we are thinking,
Thinking of the one day we meet you,

The water from the sky

The drops of water’s ping
Having no clue why

I do not know; the water pings
The water’s song

Sky is sharing, the water sings
To me the water does no harm

Brings to me, a brand new song
The wind, the water

Can do no wrong

We see this world in an ever turning spiral
To be or not to be is our quest
We build our lives upon trust and goodwill

Our lives our like planes
Sometimes they fly
Other days they can come crashing down

Although they are planes
They’re still in a box
Sheltered from all sides

The box will protect us
The box will no sooner guide us than betray us
The box is a friend and a foe

These are our lives
We build them and we destroy them
That is our lives in a box

Lies are a human spiderweb
we weave them without a second thought
justifying our falsehoods,
easing our pain by creating false realities
many go to escape from life’s burdens
the false freedom seems intoxicating
in actuality it is a trap composed of your own twisted web
one misstep and the delicate structure will snap
leaving you with nothing

Always selfish only thinking of our own pain,
no matter how minute
caging the truth like some sort of exotic creature
it too must be set free

The pain by telling the truth is soon healed and forgotten
whereas the toll of a lie is never ending

For the bottle that I bottle my feelings into has exploded,
And I am left alone,
So I fill up the glass and drown my sorrows,

I get a can of black spray paint and do as you say,
Paint the black hole blacker,
So now I am,

But this time I am inside the hole,
And you are painting over me,
I am intoxicated with the fumes,

That you are spaying on me,
But I embrace the black hole killing me,
For I have already been ****** so far into it I'm already gone.

The sky may be blue,
With white clouds floating overhead,

The grass may be green,
With dewdrops that spread,

Flowers may be blooming,
With a lacey petals on the edge,

But all you can see is,

A dark gray sky,
With storm clouds overhead,

Hard, brown grass,
That's dried up and dead,

Flowers that are wilted,
Drooping with dread,

The day may seem perfect to me,
But to you its something else.

Writing this poem
It reminds me of home
Quiet time, I think is cool.

Those times were fun
I just might write a poem on that
Some were fun and but now they're done

So here, now writing this next line
My peers will watch, they'll watch me write
For soon in time
I'll say goodnight.

Eleven drops
Twelve

It falls cold, and wet, to the ground

Fifteen drops

Oh how much the rain did miss me

Eighteen drops
Nineteen drops
Twenty

Dark
And full of rain
My tears streamed down my face and smashed onto the concrete floor...

As each of her petals fell off...one by one
I sat in the bed next to her,

"On summer nights the world
moves within earshot
on the interstate with its swish
and growl, an occasional siren
that sends chills through us."

On winter nights the world
rests within earshot
on the country roads with its bumps
and houses, an occasional patter
that sends warmth through us.

On fall nights the world
sneaks within earshot
in the neighborhoods with their friends
and monsters, an occasional growl
that sends fear through us.

On spring nights the world
blossoms within earshot
on the growing trees with their buds
and flowers, an occasional buzz
that sends joy through us.

Black little figure,
The same shape as me,
Copying my every move,
Like we’re the same person.

When I’m lonely,
You’re my closest friend.

But you hold my deepest fears,
The thoughts from my younger years,
Fear of the dark,
Something I can’t escape.

Yet I console in you with my deepest secrets,
Something they could never understand,
The people in the real world.

My Shadow,
Tied to me with strings,
Unbreakable bonds,
I just wish,
I could cut you loose.
