Our love
ABM Aug 2015
Our love was like the desert.
Hot and intense.
It just went on forever and it'd be only us, for as far as the eye can see.
There wasn't much rain, but that doesn't mean there wasn't any storms.
Once a storm approached, it was harsh and dry. It could leave me blinded for days on end.
That's why I failed to realize that I was nothing but the sand.
You let me slip through your very fingers.
Fast poetry. Late night thinking.

I stay away from people,
Not because of a terrible past
Or a fear of commitment.

I stay away from people
Because of the uncertainty.

Alone.
ABM Aug 2015
"The eyes are the windows to the soul".
Hers? Hers were different.
So dark, often mistaken for black.
Her eyes showed reflections, of those around her, of the world.
She could make you question your very existence.
All that you are and perhaps, ever will be.
Drawing you in with uncertainty.
You'd beg to stay, to figure out the thoughts in which were hers.
Coming so close, only to come up short every time.
But she'll never give you the chance, always looking down.
Because she knows you're only in search of yourself.
Ten minute draft.

Those nights.
ABM Aug 2015
I remember those nights.
Emptiness lit by a screen
Fingers tapping rapidly
For fear you might fall asleep.

I held my breathe noticing,
The hours growing older
The buzzing by it's side.

As the world began to slow
And the restless became still,
My mind was still firing.
What did I --? Am I-- was it?

A million questions, a million thoughts
Flooding me, knowing I couldn't swim.
I slipped under, I couldn't breathe.
It was dark and I was scared.

But you never fell asleep.
