I feel awake
my senses tingle
Every nerve of fire

One hurdle down
One more to go
Before everything else is complete

Dragon must rise
from the ashes of the past
Injured but will fly

Time ticks
Soon
the dragon
Takes to the sky once more

Soon

As the day draws near
My body shivers in the night
A chill settles in despite the blankets

Soon I will be taken.
Soon my life is no more my own
Soon I will be reborn

Every tick of a clock
It only reminds me of the time left
time left before the end

End before the beginning
Begging to end

Darkness to light
With a dragon soaring high
A protector of life to come

Almost Free

With the final keystroke
I was done with another semester
the final click of a mouse
showed it was finally over

A bittersweet ending
second to last down
final to start

and when it's done
life will take me where I belong
out of this town
and finally allowing me
to make a new life

One more semester
One more paper needed
One more sleepless night
One more goodbye

I'm almost free
and I am both terrified
and excited
for a new journey

to begin.

Ticking

Always moving
yet now its finally peaceful once more
a heart beating through the night
a survivor once more

Ticking by
one by one
breath by breath

air given to the one
who survived another battle
and made it to the other side

One more battle won
one more battle gone
in the war of Life

Dragon's Shadow

I count down the days
the days where you're etched into my skin
the beauty you will be

Forever on my skin
Forever on my heart
Forever my wings of strength

Soon two become one
a perfect balance of both
a symbol of walking flesh

Soon you will take me
over the hills
and through the stars

Soon I will fly with you once more
and together
we will soar high above

just as we did the years before

Isolation

Fights
Screams
silence

all fill the air

The air
shoving me away from everyone
making it clear
I don't belong

If that is true
then why
do I still try to fit in?

a wall almost
sometimes I receive a reply
but none are continued over a few words

Speechless
confused
frustrated

Now I wait
hoping time will let you speak
so I may know
what your plan for us is

because if I'm honest
my plan
is still us
