Equivalence
Tita Halaman Apr 2021
One stage, time may thought it halted
Skipped the beat, missed the pocket
Cut the groove, tried to reset
Sat and stood, yet will never forget
The love it poured, behind these wires
In every word, in every line
Who sees, who saw? both sides can rhyme

Diving deep, then whirling to the unknown
Lovely is she and her tired eyes,

Come, tell me lovely

Lou
Tita Halaman Jan 2021
Lou
coffee stains
bordering her purple lips
next to her umber cheeks
I’m so obsessed
that I can’t move
my soul’s so full
can’t eat my food
oh God, i need some help

oh Lou, I never thought, I never knew
you’ll leave me, but I’ll go find you
you’ll leave me but I’ll find...

the map you changed
the clouds you rearranged
the sky, you made it rain
and my cider spilled just like the truth
still,  you’ll go swerve, you’ll change your route
oh God, I need some help

oh Lou, I never thought, I never knew
you’ll leave me, but I’ll go find you
Don’t leave me Lou I’m meant for you oh oh

I never thought, I never knew
I’m never getting over you
Don’t leave me if you love me too

oh God I need
oh God I need
oh God I need
oh God I need
oh God, how come that we’re innocent?
if love’s an obvious evidence?
A song I wrote today
Tita Halaman Nov 2022
Maybe home is nothing but a body pressed against you
Maybe, arms holding you so tight
Even at your worst

Why never did I fret?
Why never did I shiver?
Why did your worst times,
Only made me tear up, stumble?
Then, made me come back,
Made me turn back,
Home...

What would we be?
If only we’ll forget
Limits, we used to set
Limits, the mind coined threat
A win or die trying
I’d lift my body soaring
For I and I, who made myself suffer
Would fly one day, steering together
My tears, my sweat as a dreamer
Tastes like water, feeds my brain
Eyes on the prize, numb on the pain
How wild, how mad, life’s truly a game

“In Time”
Tita Halaman Oct 2022
Our different lives, our different views
She’d pack her bags and lace her shoes
I’d clean the brush, I’d squeeze the tubes
Oceans away,
She’d set up, I’d do interviews

As waves roll over
My nights grow shorter
Yet I’ll always stand on my cold feet
Sleep my nights sober
Tell and mean I so love her
Day by day, until forever
Taking steps, being better
In years, we’ll move closer
In time...
Tita Halaman Dec 2021
Amidst mismatch, I’ll go rearrange
Go stumble, go flourish
Go groove when it rains

Though lights are off, It’ll never stop
It’ll flow, It’ll grow
If you choose to, it will
No matter what
A poem for a painting

There, go carve your thoughts to fit in
Go groove in an ever changing
Go weigh the flow, play the games
Adapt to grow, endure the chains
For one day you’ll see
What a seasoned traveler could be
A well rounded shrewd who knows to listen
A wise who can soar, fly and link in
Tita Halaman Oct 2021
How pretty, isn’t it?
Gazing back to mornings
Skin’s vivid beneath sunbeams
Crying courage, bleeding faith
I snog risks,  swallow pain
I, who grew up the hard way

Tita Halaman Dec 2021
One shot for life, one shot for death
Been thrown down under, deep sea bed
Lonely and shaking, yet I swam instead

Limbs are heavy, yet I’ll fight the undertow
Little do they know, I just cried then I’ll glow
Like the bright gold dancing ray of sunshine
A loud talking rainbow among the clouds

“To be Here”
Tita Halaman Jan 2022
To be here,
Bathing under sunbeams
Stirring hues aloft our dreams

To be here,
With a cup of courage, a cup of care
A cup of warmth, we both can share

Years and years, smiles and tears
To be here,
Always
A poem for a painting
Tita Halaman Jun 2022
Lighting up as she puffs the haze
To soothe the grief through her magic ways
How come do you need? While I don’t
Your killer glow stick, your healing zone?

The hurt that lives, between your lips
The smoke that bursts, in your mouth, I’d kiss
Truly some things fetching are beyond control
Go share me pain, go build your wall
To smash and break, then and there
To suffer is an option, we’re both aware
So I’ll pause, I’ll hear, I’ll stare
And I’ll move on
Tita Halaman Sep 2021
Bet myself should award me
As the most protective and trustworthy
For I can never fully trust anyone, but myself
Go ignite flames, It still won’t melt
Nothing to lose, nothing to prove
Walls are high, sturdy as it should
Who hurt me? They ask
A poem for my painting inspired by “Rest Energy”, the 1980 performance art piece by Ulay and Marina Abramović, which is about complete and total trust. “No Longer Depending Her Happiness to Anyone” portrays a woman holding an arrow on the weight of her body pointing to herself/her own reflection instead. It emphasizes the saying “the only person you can fully trust is yourself”

No pressure, no diamonds
Glittering out of hard work

A snake eating its own tail
She’ll be swimming in the wildfires with her hand-made wings

Me and the Building
Tita Halaman Dec 2020
Flashing lights:
a car that has never been,
to a place that won’t let me in,
to the heights of a mournful dream

Reddish white:
a face staring,
at the rear-view mirror
See? Crying has never been this ugly
Go have yourself some pity
Why won’t you drive back home and let it be?
Go close your eyes and let it dry
One day, it’ll open
Once more, you’ll try

I’ll be back, I swear
Don’t leave, I’ll find you

With dripping flames they swallowed
With sharp yet tired eyes and feet

That I’d die to live

Tita Halaman Mar 2022
Step by step, you’ll hear
Music, of smiles, and tears
Your footsteps, in rhythm with mine
Vivid, valiant, and divine

Not to think alike, but to think together
They said, a tiring walk, of two forgivers
Who fell by chance, who can stay by choice
Yet, a lifetime with you is the greatest glory,
I’ll always rejoice

Tita Halaman Jul 2023
On the grounds of this, it’ll endlessly summon
Some worn out knees, forcefully bent to bloom
Brutally folded, to spring out crisp and sharp
Yes, yesterdays did think they killed a body
Yet, yesterdays just crushed it into tiny pretty things
No limb will truly collapse til she gets lucky

A deaf space to hands ticking,
A pause, to the overwhelming

To replan, to rewrite the words
To recline, is to rekindle in solace
Here, we’ll rest and we’ll bloom again

Never not Moving
Tita Halaman Nov 2022
Strokes of hues laid here beneath,
Scream the sound a crowd can read
Every me, lives in a never-ending staircase
Head go dim and lit as the world spins wild
Here, lucky isn’t the famous child
Nor the baby born on a higher step
For lucky, is the mind with power
Fortune favors the mind with peace
What for are the stairs bordered with sturdy shoulders?
When one’s trained to focus gazing up
No matter how slow, no matter how little
If you’ll move and move, you’ll get there

never did I bloom
stirred by a fork,

I’ve never been finite, never been limited
I outstretch, I outreach and I know I’ll win it
Yet, like me,
She’s crying behind locked doors too
Letting tears, help her get through

Then I’ll wonder how pretty? I’ll wonder how fiery?
