 Feb 2013 Sub Rosa
Jason Myers
Your eyes closed softly and you slept
As headlights crossed your eyes
Awaking slowly your gaze met
Mine as I sat beside
I saw a smile across your face
That lead me to believe
"I'm starting to enjoy this life"
Were words just meant for me
Do not stand at my grave and weep..
I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awake in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft star-shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry..
I am not there. I did not die.
We smoked a cigarette in the snow
As little flakes swept in with the wind flow
And clung to your hair
It was pretty, the way your eyes
Contrasted with the white sky
I could get lost in them

I looked at you and let out a sigh
As I embraced my faded high
And anticipated your departure
It was uncanny, the way your smile
Made me feel so comfortable
I am strangely into you

Maybe the stars will align
Into perfect patterns with time
And things will fall into place
