A dark and gloomy morning
sits outside my window,
as my horizon awaits your smile
so another beautiful day can begin
Stephan Aug 2016

Mountain top wishes in echoing fashion
Whispers in sonnets afloat on the sky
Soothing this emptiness fraught with distraction
Sifting through clouded views wandering by

Northern horizons in tangerine ribbons
Sing in a melody sweet to the ears
Heavenly callings from far away places
Wrapping my shoulders and calming my fears

Painting a landscape of pure understanding
Inside the dark fades a much softer hue
Nature reduced to its tiniest fragments
Illumined, the feelings I hold here for you

Narrow the tree line of dreams comes to offer
Shadows beneath every beckoning star
Finding a moonbeam aglow in its wisdom
Reaching for love now where ever you are

What is it,
dripping from the skyline,
peach bloom worries,
those shiny petals twirling,
hypnotizing, creating that image,
the dark words, caustic phrases
they mimic because it sounds cool

Playing with minds waiting
for that next head way,
standing before a store front,
watching fuzzy televisions,
stealing what's new,
spitting on sidewalks and sticking
chewed gum under sills

They follow blindly
where they are led,
waving flags of faded glory denim,
ripped at the knees
from falling before guidance
that is off center at best

Still they praise,
in four letter monotone voices
demanding to know, what the...
receiving only laughter
and discarded job applications,
tossed in stainless steel bins
they have no business emptying

When they all come
crashing down,
will it be you who pulls me
from the rubble,
takes me by the hand
leading me to the light,
showing me the way,
saving my life
When they all come
crashing down,
will it be you?

Thick walls
encase me,
stationary disbelief
fogs my intentions,
straight line
foundations rise,
no windows
or doors to un-bar,
rafters feature ropes
hung in shameless
attempts
to persuade
escape, which
is not likely
because this prison
is self imposed,
and I am
the warden
as well as
the inmate
and no one
gets out
of here
alive

I asked the sun to shine on me,
“Maybe tomorrow, I’m busy right now,”
it answered in clouded chuckles,
spitting on me in dampened drips, then
screaming at me in thunderbolt rants
while hiding behind these gloomy charcoal
skies that seem constant above me

So I found a spot on a hill and waited
beneath a large evergreen tree
worried because it was always so dark,
when you appeared, sat down next to me,
put your arms around me and kissed me
and my world became instantly bright

Before long, the sun was asking me to shine on it

“Maybe tomorrow, I’m busy right now” I answered

When I call you beautiful,
does your world shine
because mine is enchanted
when I look at you?

Beauty breathes in tender sighs,
when yours appears before my eyes

When I call you beautiful,
does your heart skip a beat
because I am expressing
exactly what I see?

Perfection forms reality,
this beauty that you share with me

When I call you beautiful,
do you smile
because if you do,
I shall never stop?

Of sunny days and sights they bring,
your beauty outshines every thing

When I call you beautiful,
do you truly understand that you
are the most beautiful woman
I have ever seen?

*The world and all it does display,
your beauty in my heart shall stay
