Misunderstood
Onica Oct 2018
never did I think that I am able to read the truth from your eyes
though you utter words of endearment hoping they comfort me but your eyes sold you out
your eyes are telling me that in the core of your heart written are the words of your judgement unsaid criticism
that when time allows they come gushing like a raging sea
and if I could hear those I would drown
these streets are painted with false prophecies of proclaimed profanity against decisions that were made in solitude
don't you ever wonder why
before you crucify me with scrutiny
before you sentence me
realise that these constitute my vulnerability

Look up
Onica Oct 2018
She always had her gaze fixed on the ground
like she's having a conversation with it
with eyes that are able to read the soul
with her you can never be sure
I'm starting to wonder
does she see more to these footprints than we actually do
or is she encoding this path to the books of her mind
I'm starting to wonder
what does she know about the ground that we don't
all I know is that she's the girl that always looked down
look up just for a minute
look up and find me cause I'm lost
I feel like only you can see the truth hidden by my smile
ressurect the soul from this grave of brokenness
your eyes bear a river of redemption
should you decide to look up
I'll dive deep and find serenity
look up and see the trails of these broken hearts
caused by this broken soul
find my pieces and put me together
sanctify my soul with your sanity
proclaim revival against this calamity in the abyss of distress
should I decide to look up
my eyes will scar you for life
leaving a mark in your heart that no one can erase
during the day they'll be your sunshine
at night they'll be your moon
when your inner strength disappoints you
they'll be the fire that revives your being
should I decide to mould you
I'll be selfish with you
you won't be able to let go
I'll be fixing you for myself
so tell me boy, are you ready for me to look up?

Facing my fears
Onica Oct 2018
For the longest time I've believed it would remain a dream
An image that only appeared when I closed my eyes
One that I couldn't even share,
was it too ambitious of me
maybe I've always feared to face reality,
my insecurities always take charge towards my confidence
threatening it, shaming it and stripping it naked.
But look what reality has brought me,
It swept you into my life as guidance.
it took my dream and brought it to life
stopped me from hiding what I truly desired, what I've always wanted and needed
It stopped me from hiding who I really am
in a pursuit to please.
Reality has brought me this gift
It's only a matter of time until I know if reality made a right decision,
but from my observation,
I choose reality
I choose to face my fears
And I choose you!
