Morning rain and mist
Red Cardinal sings among
Forsythia buds

The moon spread her wings
Then danced across the night sky
Anticipation

We lie together
Longing for another night
Wishing for more time

Summer closes down
Linden trees shed their color
One last chance to swim

We wake at first light
Naked in our bed of dreams
Scent of wild Orchids

Sun on the hillside
You take my hand as we walk
Fingers intertwine

Sunrise reflection
Poised on vacant waterway
Hawk soars overhead

Pools of rainwater
Reflect yellow Goldfinches
On shadow lined streets

You do not know me
You are far away from me
Yet still I love you
What is the purpose of this?
This question has no answer

We must ask ourselves
Is the sun moving closer
Or are we just dumb

On a cloudy day
One might find a sense of peace
In a simple poem

I find myself weak
Grown thin by my lack of self
I rush to the edge

We lie together
Longing for another night
Shifting sands of time
