Empathy
Micheal Wolf Feb 2016
Sometimes
All that is there is the emptiness
Not darkness
Not cold
Just the void
You could try
I mean to explain it
That in itself has a problem
For my emptiness
Isn't your emptiness
How could it be?

Troubles
Micheal Wolf Apr 2016
I can't fix the world
I have tried
Made myself ill trying to fill the voids of poison relationship
Crossed boundaries I would never, to get an answer for a friend
But in the stillness of night the only thing left is nothing
For when you are alone, there is nothing that presents itself that bridges that gap
Loneliness is all and a harsh sorid mistress

The Bed
Micheal Wolf Apr 2014
It begins here. Life that is. Or a field or the backseat of a car. But let's keep the bed in mind. Be it sprung or foam modern or antique, we all start on one, are born on one, and if we are lucky leave on one. Today I bought a new one. Firm hard and good for me. Thats todays news

Silky *** she got the name not from me!
I have to say
It's easy though to see just why
When she walks away she kind of glides
Her mate thought I had a crush
Till she knew my age and then she blushed!
Now then now then would be the case
Or call me dad is what I said
But still she smiles and lights the day
As she shimys and walks away.

Questions
Micheal Wolf Jul 2013
How does the sun know of the moon?
Does winters cold court the summer sun?
Will autumns breeze compare to spring?
Do the falling leaves blow in the breeze?
Does a child see flowers and know a season?
Do the elderly see each season as their last?
Do you see my face and forget your past?
Does a warm embrace comfort you now?
You see I have no answers only questions many
I don't understand life, perhaps I'm not ready
I've cut off my nose to spite my face
So now I'm alone I'm lonely place.

Back from the brink (DRAFT)
Micheal Wolf Jun 2021
I'm a remnant of a past me.
Driven to the brink
Yet now a few steps back from the edge
Stoic in how I view life
Bereft of a need to just be
Longing to find peace
Together or alone it doesn't matter
Some days are unbearable
Others palatable
A few dire
But if your lucky there is a tomorrow
It may not be your tomorrow
But tomorrow none the less.

My head hit the pillow and I was gone
The days caught up on me
My mind had no time to dream I just slept
I awoke refreshed yet laboured
I wish I could edit the weekend
Just keep the good parts
But did the bad parts make the good parts good?
Is the measure of good benchmarked by it?
A long  week ahead. What will life bring?
Less bad I beg as I've seen enough for this life

I looked at stars in the night
I danced to dreams in my mind

Then all around me was dark
No one to hear my voice

Then I heard the music of life
Flooding my soul like light

Louder than I'd heard before
No one could hear my heart roar

Then, then it began to fade
All that was here was no more

All now around me was dark
No more to dance to now

Everything gone far away
So I must sleep once, again

Micheal Wolf Mar 2013
You know that little voice?
The one that says be bad
It tells you do all the things
Your mum and dad forbade

Well now your grown its still there
It's gone deeper as it's older
Now it's you who calls the tune
You do just what it told you

So wild night's out with drinks and mates
The voices got you going
Tomorrow when your throwing up
It doesn't sound as funny

Then later on the voice returns
But now it's kind of quiet
It whispers to your never again
I'm between each *****!

The Cycle of love
Micheal Wolf Feb 2017
In youth we never understand just how the smallest deeds are bound.
We look for a place that doesn't exist with Disney princess and horse drawn coaches.
Then as life lets us down in different ways we learn it's hard.
We learn to see those that care and those whos greed is all they're worth
Then as we come to lifes end we reflect upon all and try to understand
What was right and what was wrong and why we had to be alone

Now Islam comes you suddenly decide to give a ****.
You suddenly found one to give to the wrong cause.

Always at her beckon call

Always wrong and never right
Never would apologise

Till the day it all went bang
Face first down stairs and a face slam

Sorry, sorry forgive me now

So don't be a mug and stay for love

Does the hummingbird listen to the sound of her wings as she dips for nectar all day long
Does the bumble bee fly in time to its buzz as the pollen gets heavy on his back legs
Do dragonflies compete at standing still while the wings move faster than I can see
What do they all think as they go on their way looking down at steel and concrete we made
Do seagulls think "That's a nice post" while waiting to dive for the tourists scraps
Do dogs prefer lamps to trees when cocking one leg for morning relief?
All of these thoughts swim in my head
I'm sure I should be somewhere instead

Micheal Wolf Aug 2012
You can't laugh all the time;
Nor everyday
But the one you miss should make you dream and smile.
The one your with should make you feel and be wanted.
The one you love should light your day.
The day can only be as long as the light that shines upon their face.
The night is as long as they hold you. The morning as sweet as their smile.
But you can't laugh all the time.
But you can carry a smile in your heart.

Blonde hair tousled
In wistful curls
You remembered her as a little girl
Her voice is soft as she says "Hi"
You'd love to answer but your tongue is tied
Although our voice is roaring inside

She wants you to just say hello
She will do the rest if you just show
You smile and turn and walk away
Like every time she comes your way

Neither knows how the other yearns
Hearts alone await their turn
Maybe tomorrow one will flinch
The fire will start and love released

It's never to late to fall in love
Just find the one and open up
Seize the day embrace the night
Live as one lovers entwined

Orphaned words
Micheal Wolf Jan 2017
I think my words simply became orphans
Much as I imagined they would be adopted or fostered in anothers mind, they simply driffted without patronage into the ether.
It never starts that way does it? I mean we comment on something or pass compliment not always knowing who reads or hears.
Nor do we expect in any great measure that our daily mumblings will be life changing.
Yet sometimes, after great thought or torn emotions, we let go to a few words we expect will make the ground shake beneath a soul.
Or close doors behind them we no longer want open.
Then sometimes they pass together.
Words so powerful and yet devastatingly silent.
I loved you, goodbye
Something I've kicked about for a while.

If you could feel the earth's heartbeat would you care more about her?
Do you not feel her breath and see the rivers of her tears?
Do you not feel her tremble when you hurt her?
Or was she always dead to you.
Did you not see how she protected you while you hurt her?
You cut her and she bleeds, yet still gives to you.
But like your real mother, mother earth is dying.
But you will not be able to mourn her death.

To some people we exist as a memory. Hopefully it brings a smile.
To others a constant. The one whose always there.
To many a number, just to have enough.
To several just a name, meaningless on a list.
To a few your existence is everything and you may never have known it. Which is such a shame.
And some, never heard of you but your life influenced all of their existence.
So when you wonder why you're here or what's the point. Someone out there knows, even if it's not you today.

It didn't feel wrong
As she went out shopping
But shopping for love

She knew what she wanted
The same that she had had
Just younger and attentive
Before he was a dad

Muscles and tanned
Not a care in the world
Just meat on the market
No one gets hurt

But a game of passion
A tryst of deciet
Lie to ones hart
Opens a rift

The stolen moments
More needy and often
Eat at the fabric
That holds her as one

The husband the father
The daddy the rock
Is now just a stranger
His soulmate is gone

Walls
Micheal Wolf Feb 2018
You see it was never about the dance.
That went on all around me no matter if I slept or was wide awake. Their busy life, their needs and expectations whilst yours simply ebbs away, forgotten.
Some days it was like swimming through a sea of souls all touching yours trying not to sink themsleves. Each one screaming for a different reason.
Then as the day ended I had reached the shore, now alone. Yet drowned in their needs, their fears. I was lost.
Some pick up others emotions without knowing. Their problems like sap from a tree. Sticky and eventually trapping like amber the very soul that was there to help, taking their life slowly.
So we build walls out of fear and protection to preserve what is left.
We arm ourselves with the fully  automatic "NO!" and "I Can't". Emotionally lethal from almost any angle. But not love proof. Shooting down any careing or passion of any kind. But for those tricky situations where the wall is breached or they find a window and see the you inside, you hid and camouflaged with confidence and bravado, there is the bomb.
The it's not you it's me bomb. Once deployed you implode and the outer shell sends a blast wave purging the emotional landscape. Anyone who dared to approach now simply a shadow to you.
Written some months ago. Never happy with it but doesn't seem to matter now.

He asked a girl at work out and promptly got the sack
She then got promoted after saying he touched her ***
But Juliet now 50 can't get a steady man
No ****** trusts her as she's played with all of them
Chivalry isn't dead, not knights of old
The armour isn't worth it and the white horse has been sold.
So keep showing all that anger and screeming "I'm oppressed!"
Then wonder why you're alone each night as you undress.

Who walked who?
Micheal Wolf Feb 2018
Eyes wide open
the adventure begins
kicking sand and crushing shells, hunting for starfish with his new friend.

Laughter and shouts fills the air as they run with the dog without a care.

Then back to the car to move up the coast and a chance for a moment to thaw themselves out.

Skipping like fools all holding hands watched by his mother as she laughs out loud.

Then calls to come as the day is done, their faces cold as they've looked in rockpools.

Mummy look! Here are the fishes as the time flies by and the wind is bitter.

Blue in their cheeks it was time to go, so shoulder rides to cross over the rocks.

Almost there as the cold wind bites, but always time for a pitstop for Ice cream.

Then home as they laugh and start to warm up, their memories made with pockets of shells and a stone for a friend.

A winter's day so windy and cold?
Couldn't see it myself, inside all were warm.

Would you?
Micheal Wolf Jan 2019
One day you realise you love someone. You just know. That's it, no warning sign, no guide, just BOOM! A feeling that turns your whole world inside out and upside down. Fire from your belly that won't be calmed. Like Mother Earths polarity changing ends. They become your North and South. A friend becomes a lover and in that magical moment the way you see the world has changed. Because you share their vision. Then in a flash they have the keys to your soul and can walk through its corridors as though it is their own home. Use or abuse it as a trespasser.
In that moment you have no more armour no chainmail. No mask to hide behind. They hold your secrets and all your vulnerabilities. You gave them away like candy. You place your trust in an asassin that has your very soul to nurture or destroy.
For some they will spend a lifetime there and help you grow and heal, love and laugh.
Others simply use it as a space to rent then destroy everything that you built together on leaving.
They take more than they ever gave. Trust, love, light and more.
All they leave is desolation and fear. Damage that often can't be repaired and a hopelessness that builds walls and shuts out love like it is a poison.

Why would anyone try love again?

Tell me
Why does our imagination, always run away with  us?
Because after a time no one else could?
Are are dreams make believe, and a thrill in the night.
Is laughter loves energy we store up inside?

Oh tell me oh tell me! Is this all life is.
The knocks and the pain that, everyday brings.
Oh tell me oh tell me there has to be more,
cos I cant take this hurt anymore

When we cry in the rain why do tears sting  much more?
When we love, or we fall, why do our hearts feel torn?
Do our fears from the past. Overlap to today
Are we better alone, and that’s how we stay

Oh tell me oh tell me! Is this all life is.
The knocks and the pain that, everyday brings.
Oh tell me oh tell me there has to be more,
cos I cant take this pain anymore

Many nights at the station I missed the last train.
Lonely and lost, imaginations left me again.
So I stand here before you the shell of a man.
I'm doing each day the best that I can.

Oh tell me oh tell me! Is this all life is.
The knocks and the pain that, everyday brings.
Oh tell me oh tell me there has to be more,
cos I can’t take this life anymore

Well I've made mistakes, hell I've made a lot.
So don't try to tell me that none of you have.
It’s a one way journey from cradle to grave
When  I’m leaving I’m screaming “I ain’t finished yet!”

So tell me oh tell me! Is this all life is.
The knocks and the pain that, everyday brings.
Oh tell me oh tell me there has to be more,
cos I can’t take this ***** anymore

Oh tell me please tell me there is more than this....
Please rescue me now, with your kiss
Let me sleep tonight and wake in your arms….
Oh tell me oh tell me that im not alone
