I want to fall for you
like the old days,
insomniac teenagers counting stars.

I want to lose my breath,
my speech to stutter
when I lay my eyes on you.

I want late nights lost,
looking for you in the stars,
looking for you in my dreams.

I want love songs in my ear,
playing on repeat,
soft melodies I know by heart.

I want to sing songs
etched on my heart
to a picture of you
creased in my wallet.

———

I want you. I do.
As much as you do.

I want love of birds—
free in their flight.

I want to soar in your love,
love of freedom.

I want a promise
to always be one.

I want your faith that I could
fight the world and win.

I don’t want love of reason—
not love of ration, but passion.

I don’t want love with rules,
where ‘you should,’ and ‘I should.’

I want you,
always near.

I want you, beside me.

———

I want to fall for you
like the old days,
insomniac teenagers counting stars.

An ocean is not deeper than her eyes
Golden and blue
Enticing and true
Fresh, like our love, through and through

Her touch is the sun’s soft morning rise
Warm to the skin
Inviting within
Where dreams of us always begin

Monarchs scribe our memories
Deep and fragile
They charm and bedazzle
Their wings flutter, but crumble

Delicate like silk
The whisper of leaves is a prophecy
A young promise
Without compromise
But in autumn, lays every leaf’s demise

But until then, life is ours
Let autumn bring…
its worst! Who said it was king?
Winter buries it to birth a spring

— The End —
