Walking by
Giving me a suspicious eye
I cannot imagine what he sees
Or if he even looks at me
Really
My mister he may be
But I am not his lady

I don’t think you recognize yourself in my
Poems
In that they are written for you
Of course, many will see themselves
As poetry is known to do
But you
The one who I’m actually talking to
I don’t think
You recognize you

It’s moving on
But not really
I’m looking back
If you called
I’d be there in a flash
Gotta sorta give up
Little by little
Will it ever be gone?
I’ll probably always answer your song
But you’ve  known that all along
Just another groupie
Battle scarred hoopdee
Halfway gone to loopy
Tryna sparkle in the crowd
Teeny light held up to blazing sun
Glowing maybe differently
But the sun cannot notice me
Either by design, or willingly
It is a possibility
To sparkle invisibly
And apparently
The kind of magic to get noticed
By you  
Is not in my ability

Can you feel it
When you're on my mind
Is there a ringing in your ear?
Persistent probably,
Sometimes
Or maybe it's always there

You must think it haughty of me
To speak of you so intimately
I pretend to know you
Or really think I do
Some kinda non existent way
To everyone else but me
It’s crazy
So really
Here I be
Trying to be haughty
And I’m really crazy

Sheer boredom
For a start
And where it go could be off
Uninspired offerings
Of what use can they be?
Spark may come
With the attempt
Art loves effort
“Try”
Art says
See what comes of it
“Caress me”
Art says
“Dance upon my canvas
Please”
Art begs
I give it my most fervent attempt
And maybe sometimes
I do it justice  
Art

You know when you get the perfect boogar
Long and wet
Pulling it through
Tickles your nose to your brain
That's you
Until I realize there's a huge issue
Because I don't have access to a tissue
Yeah, it felt great at first
But figuring where to wipe you off is
The worst.

Do I have your permission
To continue using you
As my muse?
It’s selfish of me
Maybe
To use you
Good and bad, too
My own ends
Nothing in it for you

Please don’t love me more than anything
I don’t need that kind of pressure
Love me like you love pizza
Or maybe your favorite sweater
I don’t want to be the one you worship
It’s too high of a pedestal
From which to fall
If you’re going to love me too much
I’d rather you not love me
At all

What is it that holds you back?
Mistrust?
Probably.
Not sure if your doubt
Is placed in you or me
Truth be told
I’m not ready
So maybe the thing
Holding you back
Might be me

It is a quirk
Of art
That it is most appreciated
After the artist
Is dead
Quirks are usually cute
This one is just
Inevitable
Which probably means
It can't be a quirk
But it's not inevitable
Either
Maybe I'm the quirky one

I can tell you want to be offended
I'd rather not oblige
But you seem insistent
That I've wronged you
In your eyes
I suppose I'll walk away
But you probably won't notice
If you go by your eyes
There's lots of things you miss

We dance in public
Yet alone
With the music we make in our minds
You and I
Sometimes from across the room
Using only our eyes

I am the invisible girl
Wishing to be seen
But left alone
Impossible
Dreams

You jumped to conclusions
And landed in delusions
And there you stay
Sinking in deep
I don’t think you’ve even
Accepted the **** your standing in
You don’t look before
Or after
You leap

I can’t wait until
I’m popular enough
To attract the haters
Who come along
And downvote
Every compliment

You talk like you're the expert
On almost everything
Once you make your statement
You act like it came from King
And all of us should bow down
To the wisdom that you bring
But a genuis is smart enough to know
They don't really know
Anything

When your profile pic is of your dog
I can't figure if you're the most
Unfortunate soul
Or the luckiest

It ain’t what it used to be
It’s never been what it could
Hinged upon what almost would
It’s still good
Though

A brittle thread
Holds you to me
Not at all
What it used to be
The more I look
The more I see
Most of it is
Imaginary

Thirsty for you
And the perfect way that you come through
Maybe lust
Maybe more
Surely something good in store
You got the vibe
Of just the right guy
Heading in slowly
And smart, you and I
Could be flirtation
Could be ride or die
You are worth giving whatever a try

Sometimes there is only the long way
It’s a magic road that sets me back,
The second I take a shortcut
And the road is already impossibly long
It is worth going
If you are there
And if you are not
There have been sunny days
And enthralling breezes
It was worth going
Either way

I see in you
The beautiful moment
A person finds their passion
The flame has been lit
And I got to witness it

Boundaries may be
Nonexistent
When it comes to you and me
Goalposts moving constantly
Down or up
Never near
Coach calling plays
I cannot hear
Defensive line so clear

No one asks anymore

By everyone but you
Your past must have been painful
For you to have to go through
One day, when you’re ready
If you ever are
Walk with me on the beach
Under that daytime star
And wash your insides out
Empty them to me
Use and abuse my ear
Spit it out in screams and swears
Purge that **** right onto me
Demand to us both that you are free
Confessions made to the sea

I do not deserve my confidence
Some people think
I am a sinner
According to them
My unbowed head
Unabashed by your rules
Is all the more enraging

So you interject yourself
Writing line after line
To explain to me
That I am not worth your time

The rebellion at the chicken farm
Started with Harley Hen
When she noticed any bird that left
Never returned again
Plus
The **** covering the floor
Air all choked with funk
Out there
Harley imagined
There must be no gunk
Farmer Dave came through
And before he closed the door
The chickens were all upon him
Ready to settle the score
Pecking, clawing, cackling such
Farmer Dave has lost his touch
Covering his eyes and head
Farmer Dave
Posed no threat
Chickens out into fresh air
Running round from here to there
Every direction
All over town
Farmer Dave's chickens
Bullying everyone around
Then the humans
Formed their battle plan
Rounding up chickens
And frying pans
All those uppity chickens
Will surely boil
They'll become stew for sure
But every chicken just
Disappeared
Seen again never more
Of course, this started rumors
Of the spooky
Scary town
In which the local chickens
Ran the humans down

Once upon a time
I waited for you
Anticipation
For when you’d come through
Sometimes often
Often sometimes
No way to predict
Waiting for unreliability
Gets old really quickly
Now, I hardly notice
But sometimes I still check to see
I am past it,
Mostly

Overlooked
Most are
Hard not to take it personally
When it happens to
Everybody

Nothing to report
Yet
Everything
To anyone
Interested enough
To know
And interesting enough
To make me wanna tell

How dare life go on
So brazenly
Time passing for others
So weightlessly
Smiles and laughter
And pure joy
I see
So many people
Living so weightlessly
I bear this load
My whole family
It’s more of a burden
Than I can carry
And then I remember
That I am me
And there is no load
I cannot carry
Alongside my family

I planted a lot of seeds
In this here
Outkast orchard
Watered them
Too
Hopefully
The fruit will be
Eaten by you

I wish you didn’t
Look so beautiful
I wish your eyes didn’t speak to me
I wish the language didn’t
Sing so beautifully
I wish I could hear another’s song
And it sound as so supreme
I wish I could meet you
And you aren’t like you seem
I don’t want to care
I can’t make myself not
But that’s a lie I tell myself
To justify putting real life on the shelf
Sitting far off
Collecting dust
Never ever gets wound up

There are things about you that are so beautiful
Like when you let your sensitive side show
Sometimes reluctantly
It always was a thrill to see
You used to routinely give me
The best compliments of my life
Completely accidentally
You just said what you happened to
Feel
And it was real
Nothing was contrived
For a while
And then everything was
You are my
"If only" guy

Sometimes the **** hitting the fan
Comes in disguise as a bath in champagne
Long awaited acid rain
That immediately quenches your thirst
Blessings and cursings come in disguise
To tired, hopeful, thirsty eyes

Overly interested observer
Looking for a reason to feel
Better
Than anyone you don't understand
Never been a parent
Barely even a babysitter
Yet you know
Better
Than her mother

I think it’s cool you got groupies
And even cooler that you would never refer to them as groupies
But there are groupies
Chilling around you
Which is cool
You’re like The Fonze of poetry
Gotta be the coolest guy I ever did see

Days like today
No rhyme or reason
To days when poetry flows
So easily
One more oxymoron
We don’t know we see

Sometimes
The dust never settles

You want to be his savior
And thus you want him to
Fail
So you can swoosh in

And prove to him, with you he is blessed
But if it really were
There would be no need for the test
And you could win him at his best

But words are free

If you throw that penny in the wishing well

How many wishes do come true

For cursing you

Curse fest
And curse this curse fest too

You are my biggest "fan"
You seem to love my poetry
And since you're so amazing
I like what that says about me

It’s not easy to admit
When we’ve gotten too into it
Addiction
Whether it be drugs, a person, or anything
The temptation is too strong
Keep us chasing it all day long
Bend our lives around it’s demands
Become a mere shell of a man
Eat us from the inside out
Crave it, love it, chase it about
Obsession drives our every move
Skipping record
Defective grooves
Steals sleep, money, ruins mood
All the damage it can do
Life will make you play the fool
And the addict doesn’t even have to be you

Are you sure of what you said?
Maybe the opposite is true
The most you can attest
Is that you’re sure of it
For you

Some days
You live in my mind rent free
All free
Yet  
Priceless commodity
Thoughts of you
Seducing me
To write all this poetry
Beautiful muse
Feeding my mind
Free for both you and me
