Despite the whole bunch of sad poetry
Wondering why that boy ghosted me
I’m  relatively happy
Content and living free
And even though I want to say
“Don’t pay any attention to me”
Doing so would be
An oxymoron to the whole point
Of poetry

Action speaks louder than words
But inaction

Silently

This is the little bug
Named Krista

She’s pretty easy to ignore
She’s caught in a sea of billions of bugs
More now, than ever before
And sometimes she almost gets squashed
Under the heel of a boot
But ****, that little sucker
Sure does know to scoot
Blink and you miss her
That little bug
Self-preservation is her goal
She’d be so much better off
With more armor and less soul

The internet is broken
Surely
Otherwise he would have been
Paying attention to me
It cannot possibly be
That he just doesn’t care to see
So obviously
The internet is broken
Only for me

The swimming pool that’s only two feet deep
The alarm clock going off when you just fell asleep
The shower with only five minutes of hot water
Desperate for a son, but you get a daughter
The beautiful flower that smells like ****
The fly that just landed in your soup
The day at the beach when it starts to rain
Your beautiful white dress that just got a stain
A bunch of sand on your fingers with your nails still wet
Losing what you were positive was a sure bet
A scratch across your brand new glasses
A highway that doesn’t allow any passes
A baseball game with excessive delays
A guy who tells you he loves you and disappears for days
A fan that only blows hot air
Just sitting down someone takes your chair
A nice stack of pancakes
But you ran out of syrup
Meeting a cute guy just when you burp
Gum on the rug
No rain for your ark
An uninterested shrug
A day that is dark
A weekend you have to work overtime
When your pants won’t zip up and your shoes won’t shine
Boring as traffic when you went for a good time
Trying to keep up, but falling behind
Finding the bathroom you NEED, but with a long line
A date without any wine or dine
Just saying hello, and now saying goodbye
A **** disappointment
But everything’s fine
I’m heading over to the back of the line
I’ll catch you on the flip side
I can see what I would have had in store
I don’t have the confidence to be ignored
I’m also lacking patience too
But it was wonderful
While it lasted
Knowing you
Thank you for that
And I mean it
You beautiful, beautiful man

Plenty of things to write about
There’s a crisis almost everywhere
Lots of things that are unfair
Which stars make a pretty pair
Colors, numbers, nature, too
Man made stuff
To name a few
Oceans, forests, vegetables
Planets, stars and moons
Movies, tv shows
Bugs Bunny cartoons
(**** THE WABBIT!!)  
Current events, the weather
****, I can write about whatever
So that’s what I am gonna do
Because
I can no longer write love about you

It’s really the most one can hope for
When it comes to relationships

No regrets

Only respect

A little torn up
From neglect
But what the heck
It was better than perfect
My dear
That whole couple of days a week you’d be here

And that’s all I have to say about that.

It doesn’t exist
Anymore
It never really did
I built it up
Too much in my mind

He was just being kind

At least I’ve grown and matured
And this time I picked a great guy to catch feelings for

I wonder what it’s like to write a poem that trends
For weeks and weeks on end
People rolling their eyes
Thinking “this again!”
“Why in the heck does that poem still trend?”
And then, of course
It becomes a pain
For even the author
To try to justify
Why this poem keeps trending so high  
As much as it’s cool to be recognized
I don’t think I’d like it
Sustained
Nobody wants to stick around so long
That they become a pain

There’s a man on my street
Who’s obsessed with his yard
Meanwhile he’s ignoring
His wife falling apart
Maybe it’s just a cause and effect
One of them must have started the neglect
She doesn’t even put her shoes on
Anymore
When she goes to the store
He’s out with his hedge clippers
And his women is wandering
Around in slippers
And a frown

But they got the neatest lawn in town

At some point
I must accept
Against my will
That he finds me
Resistible

I wanna laugh so hard til my belly hurts
I wanna order a sundae complete with the works
I wanna get tan lines on every inch of my skin
I surely wanna dance and sing
I wanna run to the top of the hill
And proclaim “I AM KING”
But since I’m a girl
I can’t do everything

My grandson might grow up to be a lawyer
He had a day that is bad
I said to him “why are you so angry?”
He replied, “I’m not angry, I’m just only mad”

I wonder where you go when you’re gone
I hope it’s somewhere you want to be
But that thought is so silly for me
You’re not the type to be wasting your
Precious time
Doing something begrudgingly
Wherever you go  
The people around you are very lucky

I saw your poem about how you hadn’t posted in a while
Because you were waiting until you wrote something worthwhile
And I wanted to tell you
Something that’s true
Or, at least, it’s true for me
Of all the critics in the world there could possibly be
I am the WORST critic of my own poetry
I’ll think something is great
And it just sits there, ignored, in unloved fate
While the stuff I just put up because it was there,
Corny and ugly and reader beware
Seems to be my work to which people respond
There’s really no way to tell
Which of your poems will hit who and how many
So put them up!
And put them up plenty
Give us torrents
Give yourself the release
Share all that beautiful poetry
And don’t stress yourself over what you think people want to see
The worst they can do is ignore it
But that happens to everybody

Her apologies are really thinly veiled guilt trips
Aimed at you
How can someone say sorry
While still blaming you?
Denying the truth
That’s what you do
You call it
“Keeping the peace”

I want to smack the back of your head
To knock into it some sense that’s common
But you’ve got yourself in so deep
Common sense is something you no longer keep

There is an old man in the yard next door
Who often comes out to feed the birds
And he wears a long nightshirt
Like most men used to do
But my little grandkids don’t know that rule
So when the old man comes out
And they’re talking about
“She is outside feeding the birds,”
And though I’m pretty sure he heard those words
He doesn’t correct them
And neither do I
Because as much as he looks like a very old guy
I cannot be positive
He’s not a she
And so I continue to let it be

I wrote two poems about how much I missed you
And you’ve only been gone for a day
I posted
Reconsidered
Deleted
I was scared to come off that way
I didn’t want to appear needy
Or make you feel you couldn’t go away
Too much overthinking
Or maybe too much truth
I have to admit to myself
That I need you
And now, I’m here
Admitting it
To you
I feel your absence right into my chest
Awaiting you with bated breath
And I deleted those poems
I was too shy to show
And I thought to myself
If I’m scared to tell you
It’s probably something you should know
So this is the new,  undeleted poem
Putting my weakness for you
Right on show

In matters of the heart
One day
Can be
An eternity

I would think different and even, as one thinks they feel like a child they feel way too small under I think she believes.  They I would have.

I’ve noticed I talk about lollipops a lot
In my poetry
Mostly when I’m talking about a man who is special to me
For some reason
I can’t figure out
It must be his sweetness that reminds me about
Those tasty delights, sticky and wet
He reminds me of a lollipop
But I haven’t figured out why, yet

He is most Beatles’ songs
He is Chaka Khan
He is that feeling you get on the swing, when you go so high and your
stomach takes a second to spin
He is homemade pizza cooked by a man named Nunzio
He is the perfect blue cheese dressing on fresh tomatoes
He is the warmth that starts in your heart, and winds up in your toes
He is the sneeze you been waiting for with a tingly nose
He is, finding your kid in the kitchen washing dishes unasked
He is the fresh air you get, when you finally take off your mask
He is the clean taste in your mouth after you brush your teeth
He is the end of the day, when you put up your feet
He is the smooth on your legs, directly after you shave
He is, the blissful feeling of the couch after a long day
He is finding your house clean, with no idea how it got that way
He is the sun
And the rain
Depending upon the day
He is the moon at night
He is also dawn’s first light
He is the reason women pray
He is brand new car smell that never goes away
He is the house that gives full candy bars on Halloween
If you happen to drop your lollipop
He is the only place that is clean
He is a surprise rainbow when you thought it would be cloudy all day
I’ll share this, but I’ll probably have to edit
Because I can tell you right now
I’m not giving him enough credit

I don’t want to brag
Especially in the
Company
Of so many who are wonderful at poetry
But you can search far, wide, cold places,
And hot
And you won’t find a better muse
Than the one I got  
My poetry isn’t really good enough for him
He deserves Maya Angelou
Someone good enough to be known
So the entire world can see
Just how perfect a muse/poet team can be
That incredible human being
Who should be praised
Throughout history
Surely deserves a better poet than me

I been watching those children all day

Instead, I try to look exhausted

Is loving words and their fluidity
I can say the same thing
In ten different ways
Make up new words
Go into a craze
As long as it’s something
Others might feel
Those beloved words become real

The ocean shore is my comfort place
The sounds
The smells
Looking at the same scene
Different every second
Yet predictable
My stress melts away
As soon as my bare feet hit sand
It’s as close as I can get to walking on water
While never leaving land

He is my amnesia boyfriend
C’mon
You know that guy
You know you used to love him
But you can’t remember why

You don’t like to share your stories
No one asks anymore
History forgotten.

By everyone but you
Your past must have been painful
For you to have to go through
One day, when you’re ready
If you ever are
Walk with me on the beach
Under that daytime star
And wash your insides out
Empty them to me
Use and abuse my ear
Spit it out in screams and swears
Purge that **** right onto me
Demand to us both that you are free
Confessions made to the sea

You’re not perfect
But you know that
Which makes you more perfect than most

But reason and sanity say it must be true
