i am me
 Dec 2020 Hafsa
Madisen Kuhn
i am
monday nights filled with
candlelit journal entries
and sipping hot tea while
watching rain bounce off
the roof and open windows
in autumn and messy hand-
written letters and white
tees and cuffed jeans and
pb&j; with the crust cut
off and folded origami
cranes and watching the
sun rise while everyone
else is tucked away in
their beds and midnight
car rides and candid smiles
and lists written in blue
ink and wildflowers and
mountains and birds singing
and books and movies that
make you cry and nicknames
and flannels in the winter
and soft music and loud
music and moments recorded
only by memory and pumpkin
pie and forever stamps
i am all the little things
and if you don’t make an
effort to understand why i
love all the things i love
you will never understand
me
written on 10/1/13
Tomorrow may not come
and if it has any sense
it won't,
it'll run away as fast
as it can
that's my plan too,
to disappear from here
to be
free from this toxic situation,
to make a reservation on
some desert isle,
and living alone for awhile
recharges the batteries,
she's
always saying that.
I'm out there in the ocean
And I'm  sailing on the blue
I'm not really worried
Where I'm heading too.
The storms can be very fierce
And the waves they can rise high
I'm not all that bothered
And I'll tell you the reason why.
Because I'm out there in the ocean
And I'm  sailing on the blue
It's really so amazing
What the imagination it can do.
I have a fascination with the ocean and tiny islands
This poem is my imaginary boat across the sea
In reality I have a fear of the sea I'm happier on land..
