God is our father,
God is our shepherd,
Prayer is sure to make everything better.

There's no need to worry,
God loves you a lot,
There's places in heaven and he'll save you a spot.

God made you perfect,
but child you must resist,
Give in to the crude parts of your humanity and you'll get a slap on the wrist.

But don't worry or stress,
there's time to repent,
He'll offer you salvation without a penny spent.

Just say your hail Mary's,
Go to mass too,
Devote yourself to the church to find your rescue.

But don't ask where, or why, or how,
For God can hear you,
Right here,
Right now,
And God doesn't like you to question his presence,
So sit,
Be quiet,
And trust his benevolence!

Strength
Rebecca Hunter Oct 2015
You could say i was weak for telling the truth,
Or naive for letting myself love you.
You could say i was silly to not play it cool,
Or completely pathetic for admitting my weakness was you.

But in the age where being heartless is romanticised,
I wont let my vulnerable honesty be capsized.
For it is exactly what this world needs,
Understanding that unrequited love doesnt have to bring you to your knees.

Don't become calculated like the ones who hurt you before,
For in love it will never last if you have to keep score.
Dont let heartbreak rob you of your openness,
Here lies youre upmost innocence.

Ive always had a feeling
A halt of clarity in the golden times
When i realise that it cant last for ever.

And ill try to guess what it will be
When it will greet me
I find myself the same in times of trial
Wondering when the golden will greet me again
What will greet me.

You see, Thats the nature of life beautiful or cruel
We must learn to be comforted by change.

Bereavement
Rebecca Hunter Jan 2015
A sailors widow waits at the shore for a ship that will never come,
A teenage girl sobs into her pillow till shes exasperatedly numb.

What is worse, being left by choice or with no choice at all?

Just a dream
Rebecca Hunter Jan 2015
I feel you coming back to me
Without punishment Without apology,
But what is a girl without helpless curiosity,
Slipping through the curls of my curtains with the breeze at night,
Your mistakes you try so easily to overwrite.

And when as the sun aches my sockets and the birds signal daybreak,
I realise I no longer have the choice to give you a second chance because now I am awake.

"Everything has an equal and opposite reaction"

Your absence spites my lungs
Her beauty subverts my patience
Your side-effect undermines his charm

But your pain doesn't equate mine

Regardless
Rebecca Hunter Jan 2015
When all is said and done did it ever even matter?
Did it matter that you had the upperhand,
Did it matter that you were my first and i your fourth,
Did it matter that i was the first girl you loved,
Did it matter that i couldn't breathe,
Did it matter that i made a mistake,
Does it matter that i still love you?
