Matches on fire
Oh why do I watch
My brother the liar
Swirling his crotch
To inspecting girls
Beautiful faces
Perfected curls
All dresses and laces
You for me
And you for him
How good it will be
A promise so slim
I don’t want cast offs
Or my brothers choosing
Smart *** toffs
I’m already loosing
But carry on he will
Flirting and petting
It all makes me ill
My picked one is fretting
My brother is a fool
So now I’m going home
This isn’t cool
I’m not in Rome
Where you do as they do
I life my own life
I’m thinking *******
As I spot his wife
Where did I go
When I ate my breakfast this morning
Where did I go
When I got myself dressed
Where did I go
As I looked in the mirror
Where did I go
That man I used to know
My hair looks very different
And a beard covers my face
My eyes seem all puffy
And my hair is out of place
My skin is showing wrinkles
And my nose now has hairs
My face is faint and thin
Like a stranger just moved in
Where did I go
When I closed eyes after forty
Where did I go
When my body started to change
Where did I go
When I struggled with my clothes
Where did I go
Is the age just starting to show
I passed a man in the lobby
He was as silent as the midnight hour
His face was as white as Christmas snow
And his demeanour was dull and dour

I passed the man again that day
Not one word left his lips
It was like the world around me stopped
As a coldness passed through my hips

I never saw the man again
He disappeared into the night air
The most unusual feeling was left with me
When normally I wouldn’t really care

Who was the man I’d only seen twice
And why did he have to go
Without the simplest flash of a smile
Or the courtesy of saying hello

And then I saw the painting
Hung like a memory on the wall
Of the man who passed me quietly
As I wandered down the hall

His face was all tired and grey
Looking like a chap of deception
He must be someone of importance
As he overlooked the hotel reception

I enquired to the desk clerk
Who is the gent up above
That is the owner of the hotel
Mr Henry J Love

Then I was hit by thunder
As my heart beat with dread
He won’t be with us tonight though sir
The mans been thirty years dead
The ageing old factory told a tale
Staff have plenty of stories to tell
Of a nasty ghost simply named William
A blackness in a supernatural shell
On the allotment near the river
His horse could be heard at night
Hoofs ride eerily along the grass
Audible in clarity but rarely seen by sight
Myself and a friend believe we saw him
Stood between the factory walls
We only noticed he had a transparent body
After he refused to answer our calls
He just lifted his arm and pointed
And it chilled us to the bones
That night is etched in my memory
When us and him crossed through timezones
The children painted a mural
On a building next to the bowling green
He was pointing like he did to us two
Its the most chilling thing I've ever seen
Hoot she goes
The watcher in the night
Nestled on a roof top
Expertly out of sight
Eyes like saucers
Seeking out prey
A little mouse in the grass
Is lunch for this one today
Wingspan opens like a flytrap
As she stealthy sets sail
Swooping down onto the victim
Who runs but to no avail
Talons grip like vices
The poor squealing foe
Up up and away she soars
Out of sight she will go
A mission done so successful
An assassination in cold blood
Nobody knows of this killer
Lying shadowed in the wood
I put my heart into a box
Then wrapped the box with ribbon
Your address was then wrote on it
And to the post office it was given

It boarded a van in Manchester
Then on an aeroplane it went for a ride
Along with a clear instruction
This parcel is fragile inside

You opened it on your birthday
And tears flowed from your eyes
You may be thousands of miles away
But love just never dies
Open your mail
Open your heart
The contents inside
Are sad from the start
Read the words
Read the truth
Jotted down lines
Reveal the prove
Cry from your eyes
Cry from your soul
Oh how this letter
Has taken its toll
It’s the end of the beginning
It’s the beginning of the end
You’ve lost your love
My dear old friend
I know you’ll yearn
I know you’ll miss
That needed last letter
Sealed with a kiss
He died as a hero
He died strong and tall
But the kind words you say
In truth mean nothing at all
Wrapped up in winter
They all found her dead
Death came so peacefully
As it crept through her bed
Face as white as ivory
Her eyes as wide as chasms
Thankfully no more pain
And those dreaded morning spasms
A life that created many
The legacy left behind
Courtesy of this wonderful woman
Forever warm and kind
Write me a letter
About your day
Mention all the problems
That stood in your way
Show me I’m human
And it’s not just me
Who has the same worries
Over a cup of tea
An offspring argument
Or a neighbours row
Show me you have the same
And share it with me now
Thank you!
Page completely empty
Waste bin completely full
Nothing is coming through
No magic can I pull
Standing and walking around
Sipping lemon tea
Why can’t I put down a line
Why is this happening to me
Talk to me oh brain
Give just one solitary thought
Just a little bit of a tale
Instead of endless nought
I think I need to escape the house
Somewhere I can take stock
I’ll take a stroll to the local pub
And try and cure my writers block
X
X
Aren’t they beautiful
The fields full of flies
Buzzing and nuzzling
Into the yellow
And the red
Flowers
And the green
And the serene
Grass
Isn’t it beautiful
The sea
The clear blue sea
Shimmering
Glimmering
Under a tinge of orange
They call the sun
Floating on the ripples
Of the waves as they crash
Isn’t it wonderful
The chorus of nature
Bouncing of the trees
Rising from the earth
A voice
A channel
The orchestral hum
That will come
With its existence
Isn’t it shear delight
Mankind working
Friendships blooming
Kindness looming
Solidarity in full song
The place we all belong
Like the dreams
The world shares
And now we’re there
I now awake
And cough
In a land of the pope
And the place of liberty
Where Columbus sat
And many others follow
I believe inside
There’s hope
I miss them
Mother and father
Sister and sister and another sister
Nephews and nieces
All the bits and pieces
That make up my tree
Friends and their folk
People I often see
They mean the world to me
Yes I miss them
I hope to see them soon
Face to face
Not on a phone
Or technical interface
To give them a hug
Or to just say hello
Remind them Im here
In case they didn’t know
Yes I miss them
I’m counting down the hours
Ticking off the days
Even though it’s not clear
How this story plays
And I can finally see their faces
I can finally touch their skin
We can laugh and we can cry
Releasing the love we’ve all kept in
Yes I miss them
Yeti my friend why are you there
Hiding in the trees like you care
Yeti my pal what do you want
With me

Yeti my friend I am not hairy
Large in size and equally scary
Yeti my pal I can see you
In the trees

Yeti my friend do you talk
About disco music and colourful chalk
Yeti my pal it’s rude to stare
From behind dust bins

Yeti my friend are you a thinker
Do you scout for bits and have a good tinker
Yeti my pal please be quiet
Your waking up the dogs

Yeti my friend where did you go
Back to the alps and the silly snow
Yeti my pal please come again
Next time I’ll show you YouTube
They talk all the time
Like woman in the office
About the weather
Or the zookeepers being late for their supper
And the new rhino that's arrived is discussed
Whilst the Penguins moan about the water
The camels have got the ****
A parrot gets a sore throat through talking
Lions have become vegetarians
Monkeys think swinging is beneath them
And the electric eels are shocked at what they see
Zebras have an identity crisis
The elephants want nose jobs
And just to top it all off
The giraffes think their to small
Zoo talk don't you just love it
