The path of life
Through bloodshed came the answer
Through despair came the pain
Through conscience came absolution
A wanderer in the rain

Talk came very cheaply
Talk opened many doors
Talk picked me up and changed me
As a confidence flowed through my pores

Feelings crossed the boundaries
Feelings played with my heart
Feelings awoke my boarded up soul
And gave me a promising start

Love conquered my enemies
Love made me open up inside
Love was the leader I just followed
But now I'm thankful for the ride
You are in essence clearly to me
The ninth wonder of the world
Strong and bold
Unique and impressive
And nothing in this world
Gets anywhere close to being similar

A beacon of love created by the gods
My ninth wonder of the world
Beautiful and alluring
Fascinating and shining
If anything out there is the same
Then I’m yet to find it

Brought through space on the tail of comets
For me my ninth wonder of the world
Clever and funny
Warm and mysterious
If someone is found with the same perfection
I’ll accept it but doubt I’ll really believe it

Drunken ramble
A drunken ramble through the wilted trees
Of dark decay and windswept pleas
Across the paths of suffocating shadow
Upon the stillness of a sleepy meadow
I slump down like a tired child
Like a clumsy elephant blessed by the wild
My heartbeat races from toe to head
As my brain dreams back to a beautiful bed
Whilst the river is running fast and unrelenting
I am like the lost soul forever lamenting
Why am I here and what do I seek
A release of guilt or a peck on the cheek
Till soon the lights of suburbia will beckon
Where the weights that tangle are sure to reckon
Alone with ones thoughts is a mental gamble
On this late night sojourn to a drunken ramble

Freedom
I want to be a dolphin
Swimming in the clear blue seas
Escaping from a robust angry world
Before it brings me to my knees
Gliding through the fishes
And twirling in the reeds
Bouncing on the sponge of a jellyfish
Riding a wave until it recedes
The seagulls will call my name
Seahorses will wave hello
A million miles from my life
Amongst the aquatic flow
The salt will sting my mouth
But that won't bother me
I'll laugh at all my problems
Cause I'm finally going to be free

Smashed windows and ***** doors
Broken exhausts on uneven floors
Uncouth youth making a noise
A sorry reflection on decent boys
The Magpies stumble on straggly grass
Clever birds avoid the glass

Like woman in the office
About the weather
Or the zookeepers being late for their supper
And the new rhino that's arrived is discussed
Whilst the Penguins moan about the water
The camels have got the ****
A parrot gets a sore throat through talking
Lions have become vegetarians
Monkeys think swinging is beneath them
And the electric eels are shocked at what they see

And just to top it all off
The giraffes think their to small
Zoo talk don't you just love it

A walk in New York
The sun beats down on me
And I breath in the air
This is where I want to be
In Central Park without a care
I leave the greenery
And head back to my place
God I love the Big Apple scenery
It's a wonderful wonderful place
I buy a hotdog on the corner
Onions and mustard if you please
And spot gents come out the sauna
Into the warm summer breeze
In the book store near my apartment
The girl always has a smile
I hear sirens from the police department
But I just live in denial
Tonight I'm heading to Broadway
A couple of friends are coming around
It's always busy on a Saturday
But I just love the theatre sound
My treat will be a meal for afters
And maybe a late night drink
Where I'll shout loud up to the rafters
I love how New Yorkers think

The old woman of the Sea
She slowed her world weary old rowing boat
Over a sky blue cloudless sea
And pointed her bony finger into the depths
That solitude down under the ocean
Is where god really meant me to be

Voices echoed around me
And I heard harmonies transcending through the waves
You see them she croaked quite thoughtfully
They are calling up from their cold water graves

Come join us young tired and aching sir
You will be tranquil and peaceful and still
Come join us you handsome lost fool
We will cure you of all that's making you ill

Not you she screamed in anger
I am old and have nothing more
Those souls below are ****** and restless
They search for new blood away from the shore

And she fell into blackness and salt
I saw her slowly float away
The oars gently brushed my hands
So I seized them knowing I didn't need to stay

The Coliseum
Stumbling onto the hot dusty floor
The cruel sand stops my pace
As I turn to see my adversary
The gladiator without a face
He raises his sword swiftly
My eyes blink at the sun fuelled sky
I roll away from the ****** of air
The blade lands but I don't die
Jumping to my feet with gusto
And running away from my foe
I can his heart is struggling
The armour is making him slow
Looking down from the stands
Are the pagan emperor and his son
They want my blood to spill
But they know I've already won
The gladiator slumps to the ground
He's tired and lies down for a rest
So I carefully take his sword
And ram it through his chest
The gates of the arena open
My hand is lifted above my head
Freedom is now the prize
To the slave who should be dead

Cloud trouble
Are the clouds getting lower
And is it true their getting slower
Will they circle us and engulf
Then devour us like a wolf
Is the sky going to fall down
Making the clouds hit the ground
Will we tuck ourselves in for the night
Only to wake up in a world made of white
Be prepared for a mighty shock
When the clouds come and run amok

Mississippi Queen
On the banks of the Mississippi
She shelters from the rain
Her cardboard made fortress
Is protecting her again
Destitute for years
Magnolia grows on the sides
Steamboats sail the river
The ones she imagines she rides
Counting the reeds by the hour
Talking to her bourbon bottled friend
Relieving a thousand memories
That all went wrong in the end
Dressed in her mite infested clothes
Clutching a ***** bag
A childhood full of love
It's adulthood that's the drag
Evicted from her home
Left to perish by the state
She dream't of being a singer
But now it's all to late

Places she wished she'd been
Never going to happen now though

The Citadel
I run through the courtyard
Sweat dripping from my brow
Gaining a strong momentum
For the here and the now
My mother and my father have gone
Through love and trivial means
I am left alone with no one
Just the worldly possession of five soya beans
A guard stops me in haste
Why do you run so fast?
His bitterness I can taste
The heart has dropped half mast
My parentage has eloped into the night
To find a new place to be
They detested me at first sight
My release has set them free
And now I'm scared of the walls
I have no abode to dwell
Please let me sleep under the stalls

Daveys rocket
Davey built himself a rocket
He wanted to fly to Mars
Made from sticky tape and apple seeds
To mingle amongst the stars
From the launch pad in his garden
His rocket was set to fly
Dressed in full astronauts outfit
Time to soar through the sky
Earth felt like a memory now
As a smile spread across his face
Past the Moon he cruised
To the outskirts of deepest space
But all of a sudden he wasn't alone
As alien police pulled him to the side
Sorry my Earthling friend they said
But this is the end of your cosmic ride
You haven't got a permit
To enter past our glittering stars
Daley reluctantly turned his rocket
Sad he didn't get to Mars

That's my hearts not decided it's dead
Rehearsing at five this evening
I'll throw the ladies out then
Then go and see the wife at home
She has a bad taste in men
My father has left me a message
Telling me I'm such a disgrace
Well wait till we have a hit again
Wipe that smile of his fat ugly face
Pastor James Jackson what a lovely man
Hypocrite on the quiet
The things I could tell about him
Would cause the press to start a riot
I remember when I came down for breakfast
And he held my mothers head in the sink
Told me to leave the room

I'm depressed thinking about it now
Last years bike crash was a near miss
But today I might just end it all
And then give my lovely mother a kiss

Interview with Jesus
I shook his hand respectfully on a warm sunny day
And thanked him for coming along
With the formalities out of the way
We prayed and he sang a song
Then I asked him a series of questions
Which I believed were important to me
And he gave me a variety of suggestions
‘These will help you’ were his words ‘you just wait and see’
I asked him about natural disasters
And priests that had done such wrong
He replied that man is damaging what it masters
And in his fathers eyes those people don't belong.
I asked why terrorists are killing the masses
And will their minds ever be free
He said we’re getting wiser as everyday passes
And their fanaticism will soon cease to be.
Then finally I had one more issue
And his answer was clear and plain
I wiped my eyes with a tissue
When he told me ‘yes, one day I will rise again’.

The Intruders
I'm sat on my ranch, shotgun in hand
Swinging on the bench
I know they're coming tonight
The intruders and their dreadful stench
They've terrorised my family
And made me a paranoid man
Well now I'm making a stand
Cause now I know I can
The air starts getting colder
And the shadows slowly appear
They are very far away at present
But soon they will be near
I hear the snarl of the biggest one
The little ones start to growl
Tonight their in for a shock
I'm not going to throw in the towel
With a stern and angry voice
I shout to them loud and clear
'You'll never hurt us again'
Gone is all my fear
Now they are in my sights
And I lift my shotgun to aim
Slowly then bang bang
I put an end to their game
The yelping hurts my ears
And the moans carry in the air
But the big still keeps coming
With a wild and dangerous stare
Again I take my aim
Bang and I watch it drop
I go back indoors
Finally I've made it stop
Early the next morning
I set out to burn each one
But its me who gets the shock
As their bodies have all now gone

Have you ever seen the flowers
That grow in Gods garden
The embodiment of each and all of us
Some grow strong and beautiful
Others grow weak and ugly
And the nasty ones lurk around
As they wrap around other stems
Then hurt with cruelty and anger
God keeps a watchful eye
Ending their callous nature
They don't belong in my display
He says as he removes them
And throws them to the bowels below
To the wasteland of fire called hell
Keep them down there Satan
Only good grows here
Not your disturbing disciples
And then he tends to the flowers
That grow in his garden

The Empty house
I snook through the window and settled on the floor
A cold icy draft floated under the door
Footsteps walked above me and voices talked in the night
Fear became my ally as I anticipated a fright
I edged to the stairs and climbed them one by one
It appeared the ghosts of yesterday wanted me gone
On a dark landing a light shone up ahead
The reality of seeing spooks was filling me with dread
I creaked open the door and the light illuminated my eyes
Rumours say unhappiness means the spirit never dies
The room was cold and empty as dust hung in the air
These phantoms were playing games and I was trapped in their lair
Walking to the stairs my chest began to feel tight
At the bottom of the stairwell stood a girl all in white
I woke on the garden lawn wriggling in pain
From that day onwards I was never the same again
Forget the sharp black horns
Or the points of the blood red fork
The frightening red skinned monster

Generated by his wicked untruth

I'll just keep my thoughts of happiness
And sit around till I'm 41 and 42

I ran to my window
When I heard his steps
And watched him wander away
He whistled a sweet gentle tune
When War summoned him that day
We read his letters
Then laughed at his jokes
As he penned his tales of the world
He saw pyramids and lions in winter
And monkeys with tails that curled
But the nights seemed to get longer
Whilst the days started to drag
As we hid from enemy flyers
Everyday would always be the same
Waking to bricks and smoking fires
Then one day in the summer

All motionless and very still
They said be thankful he's back
As his coffin rolled over the hill
He was a fine man a courageous man

Said his sergeant with the minimum of fuss
But I know he died unhappy
Cause he didn't serve with us

Can I get you a comfy chair
Said the lady wearing glittering gold
No I said I'll just stand

Why have you come to this station
She uttered with a pendant for charm
It's quite possibly the worst in the land

My sister is ill and lonely
So I'm boarding a train
Replied I with honesty intact

You look old and tired
In need of some rest
I was struggling and that was a fact

Please sit yourself down
In this old comfy chair
I'll get you by your sisters side

But without a sleep
And something to eat
Your body will act like it died

Such a lovely person
With a charming face
An angel in my hour of need

Lie back carefully
And I'll find a place
For food so you can feed

A wonderful dream
She had had the previous night

Where as a young lady
In Aldwych station
She helped an old man in his plight

I could see his suffering
Feel his pain
And I wanted him to be free

A tear welled up
In my baggy old eyes
When I realised that man was me

Idyllic and in utter calm
The bitter cold nibbled our lips

A stumble onto the floor
And a tear rolled down my face
Don't cry my little brother

It was then you became my amulet
From all the things that are bad
Security shone like a ray of light
And I felt oh so glad
Then I heard the sound
Of a crack spreading on the ice
You pushed me away in desperation
This game suddenly wasn't nice
Down you fell into the water
And silence covered my tiny ears
As your porcelain face floated beneath me
Confirming the worst of my fears
I sat and waited for hours
To see you emerge from the depths below
But ofcourse it never did happen
You saved me and that's all I'll ever know

Failure what a word
Such a pitiful feeling
It’s really quite absurd
But failure
It’s real
I have the prove you see
Cause lately I’ve been believing
That the term failure
Relates to me
I can’t seem to do things
Everything turns out wrong
Even when Lady Luck sings
The devils brings her down with his prongs
Failure it’s real
And I can tell you why
Because no matter how hard I work
No matter how hard I try
I bring a problem in
Which makes me start to cry
Failure yes I believe it
It’s just creeping around the wall
Waiting to drop its net on me
To make me feel small
But I guess somebody’s got to be
I guess nobody’s great
I’ll just carry it on my shoulders some more
I’ll just carry the weight
Of being a failure

You just have to look and marvel
As what nature is giving to us

Flight with an Angel
I fly through the clouds
Clinging to the Angels wings
She says I'm perfectly safe
This is what paranoia brings
We've just flown over Russia
And now we're in the heart of France
I can see the delights of Paris
A place of love and real romance
As we skirt over Big Ben
This Angel picks up the pace
The icon of the monarchs realm
A Gothic structure with a clock face
Below me is the goddess of the free
And I see a light swirling ahead
Deposited onto Staten Island
The returning Angel says I'm not dead
The time just isn't right
See your children see your wife
We believe in good people
Now go and enjoy your life

Boats on a Hong Kong sea
When I was young
My parents had a painting
It hung beautifully on the chimney breast wall
The strokes captured the image
Of many sailing boats
Floating on a green Hong Kong sea
The sky was dark with a last tint of sun
And the boats were lit up
By tiny orange flamed lanterns
You could see the tiny fishermen
Casting their nets
Under pale clouds and the slow emerging moon
Like a lightbulb it illuminated the water
I would stand for hours
And gaze into its colours
Longing to be there
Catching fish on one of those boats
Then it went
Put in the loft
A treasure stored up high
But I still see it now
And I wonder if it's the same
The painting of boats on a Hong Kong sea

Fathers Secret room
The room stayed locked for nigh on thirty years
But I could hear the bubbling inside
A smell like meat rotting
Wafted along the hall
I would listen as he tip-toed
Along the floorboards to the door
Then it would creak open
And I see him dressed the next morning
Clean shaven and wearing his suit
With not a crease insight
Like the room didn't even exist
Of course we knew it did though
I asked Mother one cold winters morning
What does daddy do in that room
And she told me it was a secret room
Little boys weren't to know
Now thirty years on he's past
And finally I have a key
I slowly unlock the door and take a breath
Inside are animals of all different sizes
Stuffed and looking grand
Father was a taxidermist
Nothing unnatural all along
I go in through the gaping mouth
And nestle on the smooth pink tongue
But the cold shower splashes me about
You didn't let me settle for very long
I flow down a lumpy pipe
And land in the odour filled gullet
That's not a nice way to treat me
Fired out like a pistols bullet
Then I feel the corrosion
It breaks me in two
Then three, four and a thousand
What have I ever done to you?
Well I hope it helps your dilemma
With luck it will make you ill
I'm innocent and stand by my word
No respect at all for this pill
I'll go now to narcotic heaven
Where I'll be welcomed with open arms
Might even bump into Anadin and Paracetamol
We'll cause havoc with our healing charms

The Instructions
Don't touch the paint
That drips down the walls
I want it to be nice
And leave my cake
You can't help yourself
Not even to a slice
Leave the plants seated
On the window sill
Cause the sun likes to entice
And finally just leave me alone
Don't enter my room
I'm not going to tell you twice

A day of change
Well we're out
So what happens now
Problems will arise
In the South their kings
In the North we're things
We must move on somehow
Fat cats have saved a life
One of their many nine
I guess we have to see
In the North it's delight
In the South it's white
Cause caution floats in the sea
A flurry of movement
Questions remain
In the pool of Political water
The South is a culture
The North is a vulture
We're a target to austerity slaughter
Show us the change
Let's see it work
And then the grumbling wil drop
The South are never poor
The North I'm not sure
Is the country about to stop
