On mind and soul
You’ll never know
Just how much this
Takes a toll

You can lead as many lives as you want
But you only die once
Who’s the memory left to?
Those in mourning
Or your spirit
Now free and meandering?
Because thoughts in passing
Are nothing more than
The passing of thoughts
That build a greater shared experience

Don’t mourn a loss
Gain closure in solace
Doves can fly too close to the sun
But passion fuels strength and notion

Skeletons in your closet
Are tearing ligaments
On tectonic plates
Now we’re in balance
Just don’t dance on the tightrope
Asking questions walking on coals
1000 degrees and rising

Mists of porcelain
Tides of clay
High cynicism
Forecasted today

Ebb and Flow
Have a great marriage
But you’ll never catch them
in a carriage
Fated fading ecstasy
find their rings returned to Saturn
Yet she remains blue
Her orbit remains in tact
Despite feeling unglued

Her lips hymn hymns of beauty
Your knees become weak
made of porcelain
You shatter in awe
Excuse me miss
Says you
Muffled are your words
Stay a while
I’ll buy you a drink

She agrees with you softly
Her shyness unarmed you
She says

“ what are you trying to do”
“ Nothing”
“*******”
She kisses you

“I don’t tease”
She says
I hold my breath

“Lady
Your hair shines like a picturesque twilight
To what do I owe the honor
May I charm you tonight?”

“ sure, my name is Amber
My blue eyes don’t damper
For I know my tears are
Drowned in the bottle”

“ But in you i sense a companion, a lover and a mate, please pay my check
We must go it’s late”

“ Amber...”

“ mustn’t you worry angel”

I close my eyes to only awaken from
This dream

If I
tell you what I want
Isn’t *** and I’m earnest
Will you still brush me aside?
If I told
That I’m a romantic
Would you run and hide

I’ll keep searching until I find you
Invisible, Elusive one
In the meantime
I’ll work on myself
So that when we finally talk
You’ll stay a while

I will not
Hide my shame
I cannot
Mend your scars
I will not
Actively ignore
Or discard

My hatred
For what we’ve become
Give me the gun
I’ll shoot the flag in half
And sew it back together

We can
Not blame the hate
On the other side
If we
Don’t look at ourselves
(And) Realize
That we’re all to blame
(We’re all to blame)
No ones
A special snowflake

Flames of the end shine endlessly
We’re all to blame to blame

I hate
Everyone equally
It’s not about gender or race
I hate myself too
At times I feel like

We romanticize the hell we create
No ones
accepting responsibility
Blame left, blame right
We never looked inward
To realize  that we’re part of the issue

Ours isn’t ours
Mine isn’t yours
Theirs isn’t I’s
And everybodies a victim of themselves
Grow the **** up
And accept the fate
Of the world has pre determined
We live and grow
Die and appreciated for the memories we leave behind
My generation is one swine
Lead on by the parents
Who draw incorrect and far fetched parallels of Peeceived ****** or Socialism

Only we the people
Can make America great again
Turn inward
And realize that by voting
We actively contribute to our perpetual demise
Lawyer, businessman, and politicians don’t fix anything

We’ve done this to ourselves
John Dewberry Dec 2019
The angels congregate
Enforcing policy
Under a crimson horizon
Where devils cry
In glee

wherever roaming
Takes us, we’ll find
Peace
Where the dusk may sleep
