There was a time when people would build connections
As they built the railroads, one person in some way
Connected to another

This distinction is lost the further we move forward
As the boat is lost the further they drift from
The shrinking lighthouse on the coast

I look around and I see screens
Which reflect the mannequins which stare at them

Has the meaning of the term

Connection

Been forgotten?

I have a question for the universe
Just a yes or no will do
It’s not simple nor complex
But is one thing I ask of you

The answer is desired
The greatest wonder of time
Bit it is already known
In this cold, damp heart of mine

A lie would suffice
Keep me true and sane
Unless I won’t rise
Held down by this chain

Can’t breathe without belonging
Can’t feel so I bleed
Purpose is what drives me
and therefore I plead

Clouds of grey transpire
In the darkening sky of dusk
Rain begins to fall
Plummeting towards the earth

I spark within the mass
Extending further each time
A rumble following me
Answering back with its sound

I light the night sky
Illuminating the world before me
Brighter than the moon who hides away
As that of most

Broadening my teaches
Touching the ground with my glow
Concealing the brush beneath
In a fiery sheath

Witnessing the devastation
I retire to the covering of the clouds
Silencing the rumble
Whom accompanied me in solitude

Taking all it wants

Selfish and unforgiving

We bend to its rule
