I want to travel with you

Italy, Paris, Rome
Wherever we can go

I want to hold your hand

It wouldn’t matter if people stared
As far as I’m concerned we’re the only two to exist

I want to make you laugh

Your laughter is beautiful
I would give anything to be the culprit behind it

I want to hold you

Can’t we just lay in bed together for a day?
I would hold you until we’re old & grey

You have no idea how soft I am for you

How I want to spend my time making sure your life is filled with love

Every time the weather is bad for you, I want to make a pillow & blanket fort for you. We could lay in there together watching movies & just hide away from the storms

I wish I could tell you all of these things, but I can’t

I can’t project my feelings onto you because it just wouldn’t be fair

So I give you my heart in secret & hope that whomever gets to have your’s in turn cherishes it the way I do

I’m Fine
Ami Jul 2019
I sit on the precipice of life
Staring into the vastness of space

My mouth is moving, but I’m only met with silence

I sit there on the edge
Only the stars to keep me company

A tear escapes and makes it’s way down my cheek

I’m fighting to get a sound out
This vacuum of empty space is deafening

My cheeks are stained, my dress drenched, the tears won’t stop

Why can’t you see?
Why won’t you hear?

I’m gasping for air, but there’s none to be found

In the end, we both know I’ll say I’m fine

Time for wine
To unwind
Rewind
Let the world fall behind
Keep the stress of the day at bay
While I let my words lay
Dim the lights
Give up the work without a fight
End this lyrical rhyme?

They were beautiful
Ami Jul 2019
They were beautiful they were. There was none who compare.

Eyes brown, lips soft & pink as a Spring grown rose, & skin that had been kissed by the Summer sun.

They were beautiful they were. My heart longed for them the way the waves yearn for the moon.

The softness of their voice. A voice that could tame any beast.

Oh how I loved their presence all the more.

The grandeur of their life was unattainable from the modest one I led. Though my heart only desired to be beside them, I’m afraid it was something I would never procure.

They were beautiful they were. A beauty I could not obtain.

Emotions
Ami Jul 2019
It’s human nature to break down
Emotions can make you feel like you could drown

It’s ok to let them loose
Free yourself from their noose
Let them flow
Heaven knows you take a heavy blow
Each time a thought explodes
Your mind does not have to be your number one foe

Let them out
Let go of all that negative doubt
This is what being human is about
Do something that eases your mind
Take the time to rewind

Go for a walk
Take time to talk
Dance
Sing
Do anything

Just don’t let them consume you, fool you, or undo you

She
Ami Jul 2019
She
She unravels herself only for the sun

The only light she loves apart from her own

He drapes her in his color, shaping her form like no other can

Gentle touches, fleeting kisses, & breathy sighs, only he can give her what she needs

Even if it is only in passing

His light is the only light she loves

Apart from her own

Time
Ami Oct 2018
Time wilts the flower
Ages the wine

It is both a blessing & a curse

It gives us the chance to be with those we love, but takes them away from us when it ends

With time we are granted two choices:
You can spend it wisely
or
you can waste it

One thing I know for sure is:
Time is rarely on our side

What Are We?
Ami Sep 2018
What are we, but a simple vessel?

A stopping place for something bigger than we could ever know.

You see the flesh and hear the sound of my heart, but do you feel the passion that burns within?

We live with borrowed time, time that slips away if one is not careful.

Will you stand out in the rain or let the snow fall upon your face?

Can you understand the maps of the stars or how the moon cannot live without the sun?

Do we truly understand what we are, when there are galaxies and worlds unexplored?

How complex is the human mind, when even the vast oceans are left un-examined?

When thinking of everything there is yet to understand, will we ever know what we are?
This may not make any sense, but it's something on my mind and something I have felt the need to share.

There are so many questions in the world and some I'm afraid will never have answers brought to light.

Imagination
Ami Sep 2018
The day you stop letting your imagination have even an inkling of freedom, is the day you stop living and simply begin to exist.
Ami Sep 2018
Poetry and writing are more than just putting words to paper.

They flow from my heart.

My soul.

From deep within.

For me it's not just a passion, but my entire existence.

The greats that came before me, oh how they have been etched into every fiber of my being.

Their words, their works, & the movement they started for us all, it's the very reason I strive to express myself.

Words have become my master and I a willing slave to them.

They mold me.

They break me.

Yet they make me whole all at the same time.

I will never be able to convey how much words mean to me.

I hope to be able to move others with my work, just as my work has moved me.
I'm feeling rather passionate tonight about writing. It has always meant so much to me and I will never be able to express just how much. It will always be a part of me and I hope that I will always be able to convey the passion I have in every stroke of a pen or every tap from my computer keyboard.

Words are meant to be beautiful and are meant to move. Never to hurt, destroy, nor tear anyone down.

Maybe I'm a dreamer, but is being a dreamer really all that bad?

Love & Hate
Ami Sep 2018
As the saying goes: There is a very thin line between love and hate.

They are two of the more powerful emotions.

Where hate drives one to ****, the other drives one to die for those they love.

Before US
Ami Sep 2018
The generations before us have brought forth so much.

The chance to have a voice, to have a dream, and to have a right among those who operate on small minds.

Before us were those who stood up and demanded to be heard, demanded to be seen, and demanded to be taken seriously.

The world today has come so far because of those before us.

I cannot sit idly by and let my words be left unspoken.

I cannot let my wants and desires in life just be dreams left to wither away.

Those before us have paved the way for those of us who are tired of seeing people being mistreated because of their race, age, ****** orientation, or beliefs.

The world was not mean to be powered by hate and those before us made sure to set in motion the uprising for those who are tired of seeing destruction on every face.

What you do with your time here on earth is entirely up to you, but for me, I aspire to be amongst those before us.

The Woods
Ami Sep 2018
I hear the wind blow through broken trees

As amber lit bulbs sway to the side

Whispers carried softly by

While time races against the night

I will not wonder in the woods nearby

I will not listen to their sweet lullaby

Gazing listlessly up at the starlit sky

How can the heavens afford such beauty?

I will not wonder in the woods nearby

I will not be taken by their lullaby

Hate
Ami Sep 2018
Hate, you see it out on the streets throbbing, thriving, electrifying the ugliness of misunderstanding

To speak candid about it is alarming

People pull up arms to defend their lack of empathy when someone else's race is being treated with such disgrace

Holy is the place where people can come together and speak with intellectual taste and put to face how the world has fallen from grace

Blessed are the movers and shakers who want to see people untied and undivided in the ethnic battle

To those who tattle and try to rattle the movements brought forth by the uncompromising of your headset ways

You wear disgrace, your mind's misplaced

I can't relate to the distaste that's trying to spread all over the place

If all you see is the color of skin, you're living in sin and I cannot even begin to describe the time you've wasted on the poison of  hate

The destroyer of man

The one that always brings a violent end

In your eyes I see the stirring of galaxies that have yet to be explored.

Depths unknown.

If only I had the chance to delve into them, I would wonder there for all eternity.

What Moves You?
Ami Sep 2018
In the time and place we are in with the world today, what moves you?

Where do your passions lie?
Where is your heart for the people?

How will you let this change effect you?
How will you let the world perceive you?

What is your dream for the future?
What does it all mean to you?

We live in a time where voices can be heard thanks to the movers and shakers of the past.

We can all stand united and keep the darkness of the world from driving us to being divided.

We live in a time where we have the power to stand up and make our voices be heard.

Our opinions are well deserved to be heard above the crowds of those who hate and discriminate against those they refuse to relate.

They speak in distaste, they're actions trying to displace all the love and grace, we as the human race are meant to facilitate.

I can't relate to all the anger and hate felt by those who think there's only one powerful race when the world is meant to be celebrated and cherished for the insurmountable cultures found in every different place worldwide.

We are not meant to be born into hate, but love and kindness that should come from our mother's face.

When and why they let that all be replaced by the poison that craves nothing but destruction and annihilation of all that they don't understand, is the saddest question known to man.

I will ask again as I near this end:

What moves you?
Forgive me if this is not the best. I tend to write what is on my heart and atm this is what is screaming in my head.

I crave a world where people can be who they are, love who they love, and not have to fear for their lives because their face is different from others.
