Don't let your heart rule your head
Don't let your head lose your soul
Just Me R Apr 2016
Don't let yesterday's scars
Affect tomorrow...

How can you trust
When those who should protect you
Misplace it?

How can you trust
When you put your faith in the palms of their hands?

How can you trust
When they shattered your dreams?

How can you trust
When they broke your heart leaving shards of pieces that no longer fit?

How can you trust
When your body is on the floor and you cannot get up?

How can you trust
When you no longer trust yourself?

I brought her home
This tiny ball of fur
I gave my oath
To always protect her

She gave so much joy
Bounding around the place
Like a little wind up toy
She lite up a dark space

When done with her play
And she wanted to sleep
My lap she would lay
Comforted in my keep.

Then one day my heart died
The pain was a burning heat
She stayed right by my side
It was she who protected me.

Love you S. X

Little flower, little flower
So delicate and slight
Your petals so perfect
As they look to the light

Little flower, little flower
You stand your own ground
Graceful and bold
Your colours astound

Little flower, little flower
The bees kiss you gently
Memorised by your scent
They reprint you perfectly

Little flower, little flower
The beauty that you are
Those who want you captured
Plucked and put in a jar

You cower under the bedding
Darkness all round
Your restless rapid breathing
Is the only sound

Your eyes are wide open
Though you cannot see a thing
Pupils dialated and your hoping
A light the morning will bring

Sharp intake of breath
What was that you hear?
Is that death?
Who may suddenly appear

Oh morning bring your light
Bring birds and morning dew
The only monster that comes at night
Is the monster who lives within you.

A memory left my eye
One tear rolled down my cheek
I didn't even know it had got by
My walls of brick and steel

I felt the hot pain sear
The shock of why it fell
As I brushed away the tear
I deleted the memory as well.
