I hear the rhythm strumming deep within your soul
When I dance, you command every dip, step and swirl
If none had the patience to hear it, I blame an absence of spirit
Yet I chose to wait in silence for our song to unfurl
Why ask to be pinched if our lives are merely dreams?
I return each night and each day. With a flick of my hand,
the wheel turned once again. I waited for youth's swift end
while my future lay dormant in some faraway land
Through time and separation, strong hearts stay stirring
Promising to lie still as the Earth keeps turning. My web is spun.
I am here to remain, my love. Watch the clouds part from above
No more waiting.
Let us dance in the warmth of the sun.

I've always liked rhythms that stroke my sullen spirit,
and now I hear the Blues rain down from the ceiling,
Ah, I remember! Timeless love songs, of which
oh--
it seems I have forgotten the meaning.
That is quite all right. We make our own,
don't we?
My life was not meant for me.
Do you feel the rain droplets tickle your forehead?
I'm thirsty: Serve me a glass of your finest words
Or let them fall on the tawny sill and the window pane
My mouth is open,
either way.

We laugh with the aches of soft, lovelorn children
I couldn't have imagined a pain so sweet,
I let go of my reins
to let the world spin
I forgot to say anything, but I knew you could see
So I gazed up at the sky and watched as it opened
Can we wade in this fountain of youth forever?
The bed creaked, "Why"?
Hours fade, but seconds last a lifetime
Put my palms on your shoulders
and push back the curtains
Presence is the only thing certain.

Petals of lilies and roses, scattered
upon bed sheets and open hands
Peace spoke to me in a dream
and whispered, solemnly
“Have we met? I could have sworn
I have seen your face before.”
My body has been buried in sand
until the sun kissed my lips
and invited me to dance
You lay with me as we waited
For the dust to blow from our eyes.
I decided, then
to welcome the morning dew
inside my arid skin and open mouth.

Ink and vines climb down our spines
Silence–
I wait.
To be touched by sound, and felt by feeling
With hands guided by breath and meaning
Hands shaped to bend someone’s mind,
To a mold not made, but known,
before they knew my own
Forge my breath, reach closely inside
Listen–
Hidden hills and valleys await our song
The writing on the wall spells,
“There is no god.”
Sensation can be both a distraction and a guide
Do you remember the words the sea spoke?
Don’t ask me.
“Take a look inside.”

You had fallen content with talking to the walls
I knew when I left, you wouldn't notice at all
The moment the door opened I'd forgotten your face
The wind blew furiously, disrobing my lace
I now stand naked in the cold, a discomfort
So comfortable, I no longer feel pain.
I am free, unbound, alone, but not afraid

The fruit that lies before me
is neither above nor beneath.
Wasting thought on fruitless worry,
existing for the pursuance of grief.
wasting your love by craving more,
accomplishing nothing but a heart
being torn.

jasmine is known to be
sweet and delicate
her life a never ending poem
and as she reads,
she slowly forgets.
jasmine devotes her life
to finding where she belongs
but she finds herself circling,
chasing her tail
forgetting that love was inside her
all along.
you see, jasmine's a traveler at heart
yet always confused on where to go
trying to create a perfect world
when her happiness can only be found
through word.

lily tells me she’s a lover at heart
i’d love to love her, but every time I try
she places her hand on my mouth
and looks up at the sky.
“I just don’t get it.
I can’t understand why
no one wants to love me.”
I reply,
“don't you ever think, just maybe
love is all around you
and you refuse to see?”
she frowns and furrows her brow
lily says she has an open mind
but she doesn’t want to listen
to what others have to say
maybe if she learned how
she’d let herself be loved
before she could run away

I wish a meteor struck as you held me close
and we're cradled by ash, molded by stone
thousands of years later
when they uncover our bones
they'll say,
"behold, a love that has died
to live 'til the end of time
two souls that will never
be alone."
