Federico García Lorca (1898-1936) was a Spanish poet, dramatist and theatre director. He acheived international recognition as an emblematic member of the Generation of '27. He was executed by Nationalist forces during the Spanish Civil War; no human remains have been found.
He is most well known for his three tragedies: Blood Wedding (Bodas de Sangre), Yerma and The House of Bernarda Alba (La casa de Bernarda Alba)
He was noted for being close friends with fellow Generation of '27 members, painter Salvador Dalí and director Luis Buñuel.
