I watched as each second on the clock ticked
Each second passing as the next arrived
I wondered
Who made this clock
The life they lived
The adventures they’ve faced
The people they’ve met
All of which led to one moment
The final gear which expertly met the rest
And it started
That inevitable click
It neither invented time nor started it
But it could not be stopped
The same with all the others
I wondered
Would time eventually stop
I watched as each second on the clock ticked
I sit
And with a dismal sigh
And eyes wandering
Wondering of such days to come
Days of glory
Days of beauty
Days that we live to see
And still I sit
Waiting for those days
Watching each opportunity pass
The next person stands and one takes their place
But surely they all stand and travel on
All while I remain
In this dark abyss
My time
My time will come
Surely it must
Until then
I sit

— The End —
