Sadness is like a well
A secret place where all your fears hide
A place where there is nowhere to hide
A place where it floods with tears

Sadness is like a well
As you cry
Contain it inside
The well fills up

Sadness is like a well
You only bring a few tears to the surface
But for the most part
You keep it all in on purpose

Sadness is like a well
A storage for all your pain
Sorrow
And tears like the rain

Sadness is like a well
Don't let people see
The person who you ought to be
Keep them locked up

Sadness is like a well
Only open it to add to it
Don't go grief in it
But what can I say, I do the same

As I sat there
I watched her suffer
She couldn't breathe
She couldn't move
She couldn't speak

As I sat there
She was still
Giving me a camera
Giving me a photo album
Giving me a glare

A couple of weeks
And she will be released
So she can tell us more stories
More jokes
And make us happy

But then she stopped breathing
Just out of nowhere
She gave one final breath
Before it was all over
It seems just like yesterday

The preacher said let's be happy for her
She's in a better place
She's with her husband
And the Lord
But what he didn't say was how hard it's gonna be without you

Stepping in the rain
Soothes the soul and clears the brain
As it falls slowly

Hate when people always lie
Thinking they can get away like a fly
Never getting caught
Friendships fake they only bought
When people lie they destroy peoples lives.

Racism a really bad thing, everyone should feel the same
Being a black man is this culture is insane, Why throw dirt on his name?
It’s not like he was looking for fame
He did a service, Mayella reversed it
Interracial relationships are against the code
Unfortunately, we know this, yet this is how things seem to go
No longer a secret, Tom *****?
Yet no one can keep the story straight

To **** A Mockingbird, the book was great
Told from first person, Scout’s point of view
Everything is not new, retelling the story
Scouting it out, it’s not gory
Paying attention to details in the story
TKAM Journals, a different story, Mrs. Dietz
Got us all working on an allegory

Racism a really bad thing, everyone should feel the same
Being a black man is this culture is insane, Why throw dirt on his name?
It’s not like he was looking for fame
He did a service, Mayella reversed it
Interracial relationships are against the code
Unfortunately, we know this, yet this is how things seem to go
No longer a secret, Tom *****?
Yet no one can keep the story straight

Tom only had one job, he managed to do it
With only one arm, everyone knew he didn’t do it
Forced into court, Atticus was judged and criticized in all sorts
Atticus showed the obvious innocence of Tom
When all in court, Mayella's story broke down
She's crying about all the secrets that Atticus has found
Bob Ewell, his secrets found, looked at them with a frown
If this jury wasn’t fake their verdict would have been sound
And, unfortunately, we all already know...Tom, a dog sent to the pound

I got a letter
Inside it contains
A series of fears
Running through my veins.

I got a letter
Inside it held
A storm of sadness
Just like a well.

I got a letter
From my soul
Telling me to
Just let go.

I got a letter
Chained up inside
My dark life
Coming alive.

I got a letter
Todays is different
Today I run
Today I send it.

I sent the letter
Back to my soul
Excepting the invitation
To just let go.
