I look at the face of the one I once knew
My beloved- a face so empty;
the face that once was filled with life;
that overflowed with passion-
I look at the face of the one I once knew,
and nothing is all I see.

A blank stare,
not a smile,
emotions: absent; gone into hiding
Nothing is all I see.

Nothing,
emptiness,
lifelessness,
Nothing.

But more than nothing,
you are something;
somebody;
alive and breathing.

Where have you gone, oh dear one?
Where have you gone, my love?
I do not know this spirit,
I do not know this heart.

Return to me, beloved.
I miss your shining light.
Come to my home,
there's a place for you.

Rest your head upon my shoulder,
dance with me, my dear.
The love you once gave
shall return;
Your face be made anew.

My love is never-ending,
come home, come home.
I have called you, called you;
yet no reply have I heard.

I still await the day you awaken,
Journey home to ever-after;
I anticipate the day we meet again,
face to face;
I keep your bed warm every night,
just in case.

The invitation is open,
Oh beloved, please come home.
For I have missed you greatly,
and I love you more than you know.

If your empty eyes still see,
See my love,
my perfect love.

If you can hear me calling you,
Come home, child.
Come home.
